Normally I'm a big fan of Applebee's. They really turned things around with some of the food offerings and happy hour half off appetizers, so I was excited to see this ne latest offer! ALL YOU CAN EAT, Riblets, fried shrimp or boneless wings along with endless fries, all for just $15.99! I remember a long time ago Applebee's offering this all you can eat riblets deal and I remember it wasn't that good, mostly because the service was so bad at limiting the ribs you got by making the refilling process so slow. I'm hoping with the improvements made in the last year, this all you can eat experience might be better. I'm with my crew traveling up the 5 towards Portland and I see there's an Applebee's location coming up here in Albany. These guys are ready for some all you can eat ribs (lets). [[HIGHLIGHT]]We get seated fine and drinks orders taken. The inside looks pretty much like a lot of Applebee's.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We all get the $15.99 riblets deal. It takes awhile for the first round to arrive. Each person gets 4 smallish slabs of riblets. I dunno which part of the pig these come off of, but I'd say they basically are the trimmings off the ribs to make the more popular cuts, like the St. Louis cuts. The bones are pretty small so watch out biting in. We all polish off that first order and we order refills. The second order takes some time again and is just 2 little pieces of riblets. Geeze at this rate, it's gonna take a long time to get filled up! I guess they hope you get filled up on the fries! Rating the riblets, I'd say skip them, they're not that good to wanna come back and go through the frustration of the slow ordering and you know, these ribs had a weird chemical taste, I think it's the artifical smoke flavoring they use. This whole "lunch" took almost 2 hours to get our fill. We all agreed skip this new deal, and stick with the $9.99 Bacon Cheeseburger deal! read more

The people here are the best! The food comes quick and hot and is delicious. I split the O-M-Cheeseburger with my mom and my dad had the fiesta lime chicken from the 2 for $25 menu. On their busier nights, you get to wait for seating, wait for food, and then consume something that will keep you alive for another day. I used to love coming here as a kid, and either this location has decreased in food quality over the last decade (plus some), or my palette has become more refined since I was 8. My most recent visit was with 4 friends, and started with a 25 minute wait at the door. Not too bad considering the amount of people trying to get seated. We waited around an hour for our food, which included room temperature chicken wings, severely overcooked pasta, and a steak that was supposed to be medium rare, but came out looking more like medium raw. We then had two different waiters (neither of them our original waiter) try to serve a chicken sandwich with tomato to a person with severe tomato allergies. Due to the fact that our waiter had clarified with us and seemingly wrote down that this sandwich must not contain tomato, I would venture to place the blame for this mistake on the people who think pasta is supposed to be so soft that it can hardly touch a fork without ripping. To be fair though, the person that ordered and ate the sandwich said it was good. While getting into my car to leave, I saw two kitchen staff outside arguing. I couldn't help but feel bad for whoever was still in the kitchen working. The best part about this place is the people you bring. Absolutely the worst dining experience I've had in my 27 years on planet earth. My wife and I sat down for 15 minutes before we even ordered a drink. Then another 15 before we had our orders taken. Whilst sitting there I opened my utensils to a dirty fork ( I literally scraped food off with my fingernail) not a big deal as I ordered a burger. At 1 hour we received our food and finished it in 15 minutes. I have never left a food review in my life and usually don't care but I had say something. Also why is the waiter asking if my wife isn't drinking alcohol. Just take the order. I wanna see some hustle.. some execution.. I need better execution!!! read more

Dinner eventually arrives but only for me, the failed to make my wife's food. My steak is severely undercooked I ordered my steak medium, it's rare, borderline blue. They come to the table multiple times with excuses for why my wife's food is missing, I eat so slow my food gets cold but I still finished my dinner before hers even arrives. When it finally does come she just gets a to go box for it and wants to leave so that's what we do. They cut her meal in half which is literally the least they could do, I will never return to this Applebees we need a steakhouse in this town. read more

Ok I'm giving them a 4, because this is my Granddaughters favorite restaurant. I don't find their food particularly good. But my granddaughter love it! I have to say though, the staff is awesome! They always cater to my granddaughter and make her feel like a princess. I have food restrictions and they always try to accommodate me.i greatly appreciate that.the atmosphere it good. So last Friday a few people went to eat here for our works lunch break. 4 all together. So two ordered the 8oz steak and 2 where bourbon burger. Now it give it a 2 stars in the sense that the two bourbon burgers where good and the customer service was good but my two coworkers didn't quite get the steaks the way they ordered them. Rare to a medium rare and both where well done and very chewy. Making there time there complaining and well not satisfied. ( not busy at that time neither ). So maybe check your food before the waitress/hostess leaves the table or call her or him back to see if you can get the order the way you ordered it. Expensive and 2 not to satisfied. This Applebee's was fantastic on the night we came in. We were in town on business and had a pretty big lunch, so just kind of felt like something small and simple for dinner. Our waitress, Maria, was super sweet and professional and very attentive. We ordered one of the sweet blended bacardi drinks, called flamingo crush. Totally worth $5, it was like an alcoholic slurpee. Yum! Our orders of Chinese chicken salad, and the riblet's and fries was great, as was the appetizer of boneless wings. I came here for lunch with a friend. Ordered French Onion Soup and a Cesar Salad. I found croutons in my cupboard from 2008 that were less stale than those on my salad. The French Onion Soup had been sealed with cheese so the Croutons on it had been pressed down into what soup there was and sealed in while the cheese was melted under the salamander. By the time I broke the cheese off the top it was mush. No soup left to drink or even try to spoon out. There was food stuck on the table. The service was non-existent until we asked for the manger. It was silly, We had to seat ourselves after being ignored by the greeter; then after some time, had to get up and ask for menus. The whole restaurant was only at 25% capacity and the service was severely lacking. We had to ask for silverware when our food arrived. The server was fairly prompt and the dining experience was adequate; the food was decent. Did not see our server after the food was served. We finished and waited for over 10 mins before we were forced to ask for our check. Finally, a different manager approached to apologize again and to let us know our check was coming. Almost 10 mins more and I'm feeling like a hostage. The second manger finally shows up with the check but then attempted to solicit us for a donation. Oh, Applebee's; you used to be a safe bet, but now you seem to be struggling. I've had 3 star, even 4 star experiences with you, but last night was appalling. We visited the Albany location last night with a group of seven, including two children (ages 7 & 10). I ordered the "Blackened Tilapia", which has the following description, "Lightly rubbed in Cajun spices, grilled and drizzled with garlic and thyme sauce. Served with fried red potatoes and seasonal vegetables." I wanted just a small side salad to go with it, but they wanted $3.49 extra, so I decided to pass. First off, the "cajun spices" were almost completely absent, and it just seemed to be grilled tilapia -- no sign of blackening whatsoever. The "garlic and thyme sauce" drizzles were more in the form of blobs with the consistency of apple sauce. And those were *red* potatoes? Really? They were so dry and charred it was hard to tell -- seemed more like breakfast home fries to me. Overall the food was OK, but just not up to what was being sold on the menu. Wasn't really worth the $12.49 to me. My wife ordered the "Lemon Parmesan Shrimp", which in the picture, looked like it would be half a plate of shrimp, and half a plate of rice. The actual end product was a very small portion of shrimp and the rice smushed out onto the plate so that it took up 3/4 of it. Again, the taste was OK, but seriously -- are you struggling that bad that you need to short people on the shrimp? A few minor complaints: Ketchup bottle at our table was empty, and we were not given enough silverware for our table. Not a big deal, but a little annoying considering how slow the place was when we got there. One of the biggest annoyances of the evening was that our server brought the check out without even asking if any of us wanted dessert or coffee -- and then she completely disappeared. It really felt like they were trying to rush us out of there so they could turn the table and get it ready for the later crowd that was starting to trickle in as we were leaving. After quite a while of visiting at the table, we finally tracked down the hostess and asked her to get our server so we could start another tab for desserts and coffee. The desserts were good, but not good enough to pull this experience above 2 stars -- especially compared to Applebee's experiences I've had in the past. The flavor of the food may have been 3 to 4 stars, but the poor execution pulls it down for me. I'm not likely to return to this one... I'd rather head down the block to Red Robin. read more

Many people tend to bag on this place, and I am not really sure why. This is not the upper crust food store, and it never will be. However it is predictable and decent, and when one does not want to cook and have something that four very different eaters can all find something to eat, it is the place to go. I am appreciative of the light side menu for those of us, who still like the taste of food, but where it in our thighs or ass. As with everything these days, the prices are going higher and higher very quickly, yet the quality of the end product has remained the same. This is more a commentary of our government than of Applebee's. We stopped the other day for happy hour....Just a warning Happy Hour drinks are WEAK! I had to send back my sour apple martini, it tasted like water and looked like water! We had the most amazing bartender who busted her butt and was taking care of everything. My girlfriend and I have both worked in the restaurant business and had noticed a lady who only hung out at one table that we later found out was the managers who allowed this woman to just hang out and not help her coworker bus, sit, take orders ect.. I think this restaurant needs to look at what management is doing first and foremost then you can question why a good hard working bartender is leaving the company and not moving up. Hard enough to find good employees and here you have a really hard working one with no support and seeing her managers allowing the others to not help. I say HORRIBLE!!! This is not due to the service, the servers are really to good for this place. I was completely BLINDSIDED when I ordered a club sandwich for MY CHILD and I to share. With no warning or choice, it came with bbq sauce all over it?!?! Never, EVER is a club sandwich served with bbq sauce! That kind of thing should be a choice, especially because a club sandwich all across the United States of America does not include BBQ SAUCE! I do not put bbq sauce on any kind of sandwich I eat and I would have never ever ordered this one had I known. My child went hungry and I forced my self to eat half, though there was no joy in it, because they refused to make it right and forced us to pay for it. They did not offer to make us AN ACTUAL CLUB SANDWICH or offer to give us a refund on the awful bbq slop they forced on us. I am so disappointed and I really feel that this experience was a waste of time and money. It seems no matter what Applebee's I go to, I leave disappointed. First off the restaurant is MAYBE 1/4 full, yet theres a waitlist to get in. Second, even with that few of people you are waiting on food for an hour min. First time Ive ever had a steak that someone tried to cook frozen. I ordered medium rare like any sane steak eater would... what i got was just not right. Bloody, frothy, raw meat. If you have ever tried to sear a frozen steak you'll know what im talking about. I had them take it back. The next one i got was only slightly better. I asked if it was frozen and not room temp before it was cooked. "Yes, they were frozen... we are having a meat vendor problem." Not sure why they dont defrost their meat before they cook it but id be careful about ordering chicken. The manager was nice though and apologized. Owning up to the restaurants fail gives me a two start rating instead of one. read more

My family and I ate at this Applebee's restaurant in the summer of 2016 and we thought it was great... We ate there again on January 9th, 2017 on my birthday thinking that we would repeat the great summer experience. I ordered a full rack of baby back ribs with baked potato and broccoli. When the dinner arrived, the ribs were dry and somewhat tough... They appeared to have been cooked the day before then microwaved to warm them up. Succulent is NOT a word one could describe them with. I complained and was served another order with exactly the same results. I am no stranger to good ribs and these guys did NOT qualify in any respect... The broccoli was served plain, steamed and not toppiing not even butter. The baked potato was reasonable but not outstanding. My wifes dish was overly spicy and she had specifically questioned the waitress as to weather it was a spicy dish and told that it was mildly spicy... Not true, too hot for my wife to eat so they offered her another food choice... She ordered a hamburger and it came with patty, two buns and cheese... NOTHING else in it at all. I was happy with the waitress and even the manager but the cook or the food were lacking. I don't feel that we will be returning there anytime soon. Either the cook has changed or else he failed the McDonalds 'reheat and serve again' classes. To set the tone, none of the meals were served with any garnishment or plate appeal. This is all contrary to our visit earlier the previous summer. Applebee's is supposed to be a upperend bar/restaurant chain but this experience has certainly left a foul taste in our mouths. It is my hope that this review might inspire the management to take a close look at the meals served and consider putting forth an order that LOOKS as well as Tastes appealing. read more
