My experience was not great at all. I feel terrible for my server because all the guests could hear was a manager/ a female staff member disrespectfully yelling "I need a runner" every 5 seconds from the kitchen. Even heard a male staff member simply tell her no as that's all she was yelling. It would be faster at that point to pick up the slack and run a table yourself. Clearly your servers are busy helping customers. Every time I saw my server she had plenty of drinks, plates or even to go boxes. She was quite busy as she had multiple tables in her section. I went in with a small headache, came out with a bigger one. If you're wanting a nice dining experience without a ton of yelling boarder line screaming go elsewhere. read more

How about seating customers when there is obviously tables/booths available whether the serving staff is busy or not, And not having Manger hiding out in the kitchen doorway not supporting the staff or customers, while staff is expressing dissatisfation with being overwhelmed with how many table they have and not acting as a team in front of customers. read more

I am so grateful for the amazing service here! I'm from out of town and ordered a meal online for my dad. I didn't notice that the restaurant I ordered from was in Nebraska, not Iowa. Major oops! I replied via the app that I had arrived and waited about 10 minutes. When the food didn't arrive, I went in and asked the bartender. She was so sweet and said she didn't see an order come through. The manager came out and was so kind and helpful. Offered to get an order started right away and offered me a free beverage while I waited. She also suggested I call the restaurant in NE and let them know to see if I could get a refund. I called and that manager was also super sweet and without hesitation refunded me. Do not waste your time stopping here. They are short on help BUT the help they have here doesn't want to work. When we were seated there were only 2other booths. Total 4 people. 2 were already eating. We sat down was told we could download the menu it our waitress could bring us one 5 min later no one looked at us or came our way. Bartender was on deep conversation with another women. A man who looked like he was guarding the kitchen just stood there. We did see a waitress going into kitchen. We came Thursday night, around 8:55pm, they close at 10. They told us it was gonna be a 35 min wait, we were fine with that. We gave them our number in order to be in the wait line. It's 9:30pm, still never been contacted by them. So we went back to the restaurant and the host told us that they were closing and couldn't serve us. We came back the next day Friday. My husband and I only wanted to get their chocolate cake and get some cocktails. So we called in advice asking about the line, we were told there was no wait and we could come right in. We get there in 5 minutes, and we walk in and the door host tells us that it's gonna be a 20 minute wait. We were a little upset because we were told there wasn't gonna be a wait. So we go sit in our car, 25 minutes later we finally were able to get a table. We wait about 10 minutes sitting at our table, till our server finally comes to get our drink order. We order the cake and cocktail and ask to pay the bill now so we didn't have to rely on a waiter. Another 10 minutes later I finally get the cake but still no cocktail. Then I realized they never gave us silverware. So after finally tracking someone down, I wait another 10 minutes without a fork. By the time I finally got my fork, my ice cream was melted and my cake was cold. And then I got my frozen cocktail after that and it was all melted because it was sitting at the bar for awhile. We managed to talk to two employees that stated they were gonna quit the next day. So Applebees if your employees are ready to just quit, then you should do better with staffing and making sure you have enough coverage and silverware. This was one of the worse experiences we as a family have had at a so called restaurant. We waited 3 to 5 minutes to be greeted at the door. Which I could understand if they were busy, but the television in the bar was more important than us. When she did come to seat us, no smiling welcome she was dressed like she was at home relaxing. We used to enjoy Applebee's in Ft Dodge back in 1999. The place was always packed and the food was good. You didn't mind a bit of a wait. Over the years, the food has gotten worse and the wait times are ridiculous. We have tried at least once a year to see if things have changed for the better. Nope. YUMMY YUMM YUMM... ate those.. food shows up.. all it well and good.. now we are stuffed... now.. waiting for bill.. where is the waiter? wait.. he passes by going real fast I yell TICKET.. he heard me.... brought our bills.. separated as requested.. good... but.. after looking at it... THEY CHARGED US FOR THE FREE NACHOS... GRRRRR... He came back for the money... I said.. fix this please... also on the bill was 50 cents for XTRA TARTAR SAUCE.. nobody ordered any fish and we never got a normal amount of tartar sauce, let alone xtra tartar sauce.. so he come back with the 'fixed' bill.... ok.. nachos are gone, but the xtra tartar sauce is still there.. We just ate at the Ft. Dodge Applebee's for a belated Valentine's Day meal. We both ordered the Steak, mushrooms, and red potato weight watcher's approved meal. Both of our Steaks were very flavorful taste wise. But, both steaks were stringy and tough to chew. While the flavor was good, we will probably not return again. Service was great, almost too good. The waitress nearly bothered us. She asked if our meal was good before we even took the first bite. I hate to say we won't be back, but for that much money, we won't. read more

Ate here a couple times in the last two weeks. Staff is friendly, but tends to mess around a lot when the manager is there. They need to learn to remove the private, inappropriate conversations to their days off. Waitresses tend to be very flirty while on the clock. Food isn't bad though I did have to send my steak back the second time I ordered it for being slightly under cooked, but good flavors, good selection and always has seats available. They are so slow. Their servers are slow and always seem to be around the bar talking rather than helping their tables. The service was about the best thing they had there. I used to love the fiesta lime chicken and the quesdallia burger. I ordered the quesadilla burger the other night and I was very disappointed because the burgers have shrank. There was more tortilla than there was a burger or even toppings. The taste was that great either. The time before that I ordered the fista lime chicken and let me tell you that was the smallest piece of chicken I have seen on a dinner plate and there was a very small portion of rice. The last time I order this dinner the chicken was decent size and had a decent size of rice, it felt like I was eating a kids meal for the price of an adult. I hate to say this but I probably will not be back to this applebees in a very long and will not recommend it to any of my friends because who would want to pay 12 dollars or so for kids size meal.
