Applebees isn't my favorite restaurant but this one has its good points. The food is great and served promptly and the bar is well maintained with good drink selections. Being that Kentucky is a basketball state, this Applebees gets good business on game night. With Food City in the same lot, it's very convenient to do some shopping after dinner. While visiting family in eastern Kentucky we stopped at the Applebee's in Hazard. Instantly greeted as we entered with immediate seating. Our server was at our table immediately, she took our drink orders and suggested appetizers. We passed on the apps...that was difficult because Applebee's has great onion rings! Our server returned with our drinks and took our orders. Our salads came out first, fresh and cold! The food that followed was outstanding, hot burger fresh buns cooked perfectly. I don't think I've ever given a 1 star before. Sheesh! I arrived at 6:44pm, just happened to look at my phone and noticed it. Took another 4 mins till someone came by and noticed no waitress or waiter had stopped by and asked if I would Jesus a drink. Another 3 mins till my Pepsi showed up. Waitress finally came over after another 4 mins. Now, 4 mins may not seem too long. But, there were quite a few empty tables and I noticed one waitress not doing anything. Turns out almost all the customers had been seated in my waitress's area. Ordered a chipotle chicken wrap and fries. Fries were like warm and rubbery. Wrap was warm, after eating half I opened up the remains half to find only about 10 little 1/4" cubes of what I hope was chicken. It was then getting busier, so rather than Boyce my concerns , I decided to cut my losses and pay my bill and go. Took another 4 mins (yeh, I know, another 4?) till the host walked by and I asked for my check. When the waitress came (only 2 mins this time!) she had to go back and deduct my 10% off as I was a guest at a neighboring hotel. Took her another FIVE minutes to recalculate the bill. My wife decided to get her dinner to go from our local Applebee's. She called it in we stopped by to pick it up. She ordered chicken platters, fries and coke slaw. With an appetizer of cheese sticks. After a longer wait than I anticipated for the number of customers at the restaurant. Our mistake we didn't bother opening her food to see what it looked like before we drove 30-minutes home. When we arrived home my wife first tried the cole slaw she said it tasted as if weren't outdated or as we like to say ruined. She tried then tried the chicken platters. They were fried up floor with very little chicken in them, very disappointing. No amount of honey mustard could make them eatable. The cheese sticks were the only totally oil soaked thing that could be eaten. Twenty-two dollars for food I might now want to feed to my dogs. The food has been getting worse with each visit. Along with a YELP review I tried to actually include a review on their home Applebee's web-site but no way to do that. read more

We all know Applebees microwaves most of its food, it's real simple cooking and appetizers you pretty much know what you're going to get when you sit down, but Hazards location has HORRIBLE draft beer. It's been this way for a few years and every time I come back I'm reminded of how you cannot get a good crisp, cold beer here. I don't know if bartenders can't pour or if it's something with the system, but it needs to be addressed. read more

Typical Applebee's menu and service...nothing spectacular, but works in a pinch. With limited options nearby this is my go to place when I'm in town and staying at the hotel next door. The service is fine but probably shouldn't go here if you are in a rush. Otherwise it's a decent meal with good drink prices. read more

When I called them later that night, halfway across the state, they were amazingly nice! They even offered to overnight my credit card to my next stop! This applebees has its ups and it's downs. There are very limited places to eat in hazard and so this is a pretty good place to stop in at if you have a group who likes a lot of different types of foods. I usually end up with some type of steak or Fiesta lime chicken. Gladly I can't ever remember receiving a steak here that wasn't cooked properly. However when I've got the Fiesta lime chicken a few times the choice has been over cooked and a bit scorched. Overall if your desperate and need somewhere to stop in you have about a 50/50% chance to end up with a good or bad meal. read more

Sometimes it's really good, sometimes not. Either way, it's overpriced for what you get. Save your $$ and hit up one of the Mexican restaurants in town. The food is good, sometimes, a lot of times it's cold/under cooked, same thing goes for the service, sometimes it's good, but most of the times it's bad. Wait times can be ridiculously long sometimes for your food, and the waiters/waitresses are over worked and it's hard to catch their attention. Most of the time the only thing on TV's is a crime show or game show, even when there are big games in between big name teams, and they won't change channels to accommodate customer preference. Ok so based on reviews I expected little and it IS applebys so not exactly haute cuisine. But it was next to my hotel and close. I was pleasantly surprised.
