I happened across this place by accident and it turned out to be the best restaurant experience I've had in months! Firehouse decor and fire fighter gear adorn the walls. A massive bar with selections too numerous to list here. The staff was outgoing and helpful. You got your money's worth and then some with the entrees and the atmosphere was fun and inviting. The menu ranged from $9 burgers to $20 sandwiches. Appetizers looked tempting. The servings were generous. What more could you ask for? Big screens throughout the restaurant featuring sports events and the jukebox was playing rock and roll classics. The crowd was a nice mix of young and old. This would be a great place to catch a Kentucky game with your friends. I had the Firehouse Club sandwich with fries and I was blown away. My wife had cheese quesadillas and was equally impressed. Halligans has an authentic vibe! I typically come here when they partner with The Return of R&B, doing trivia and cultivating a black experience in Lexington. However, the food is always excellent. I have had the burger, wings, and a chicken sandwich (not my favorite, 7.5/10). The staff is great and always present. They keep the restaurant and your area clean with continuous traffic. We planned our lunch stop to pair with a cider tasting next door. Came by on a Sunday afternoon, but it wasn't too crowded. We ordered at the bar and chose our table. Food came out quickly. We'd ordered a club sandwich and fries to share. It was definitely enough for two or one very hungry single person. Ambiance was sports-bar vibe with firefighter homage. Service was relaxed and friendly enough. The club sandwich was fine, but not my favorite rendition of the classic sandwich. It was prepared with sliced lunch meat type ham and turkey. It was accurate to menu description, I just prefer club sandwiches with turkey and bacon. Sandwich also included American cheese which I removed. We came to the Distillery district thinking it was bigger and would have lot of options....we wanted a late dinner and by the time we were ready to eat, EVERYTHING had closed their kitchens. We walked and finally found this spot with their kitchen still open, and we were ready to eat anywhere at that point. WHAT A TREAT. It was definitely unexpected. They were SUPER nice first of all, and got our orders in quickly. The food came out super quick too. They also had great beer and drink options. We got the Mozzalunas, nachos, and loaded fries and omg everything was SO GOOD. Everything was loaded down with toppings it was awesome. I bet their dinner would be awesome. Me & my boyfriend went here for lunch today (Friday). There was a few people sitting at the bar and some sitting at a table. With the amount of people coming in and out of the Distillery District, I thought that this bar was going to be busy! It wasn't and in my opinion, it should be! Food: We ordered the Mozzarella Lunas and a Pulled Pork Sandwich with Onion Rings. The Lunas were sooooo good! The cheese pull was very satisfying. The Pork Sandwich was good but, wasn't the best one I have ever had. The Onion Rings were also crunchy and tasted fresh. Service: As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a super sweet bartender. She told us that it was open seating and we order at the bar. Each time I needed something such as a box, the bartender was immediately on it and didn't make it seem like I was bothering her. Ambiance: It had such an amazing atmosphere. It was super laid back and chill. The music was very relaxing and went with the vibe. In conclusion, give this place a try! I had the dry rubbed traditional wings and they were DELICIOUS! I ordered this garlic sauce for dipping and if you love garlic, you will love this sauce. When I got home to eat my leftover wings, the I had forgotten my garlic sauce!! The service was great and the bartender, Devon, was very knowledgeable! While there the owners arrived and seemed to greet every customer. After that, both jumped right in to work. This is the very first bar that focuses on first responders. Last evening there was a retirement party for a retiring fireman. If there is any place in town I feel safe, it's there...first responders are constantly there! A good firefighter pub in the Distillery district, it's got solid food options and frankly one of the better club sandwiches in town. If it weren't for the location being quite strenuous to get to on weekends, it'd be more awesome (one side of the lot is always full for other businesses and the other requires payment to park because terrible people (who are not part of this restaurant, they just actively discourage locals from wanting to be around this area). Good spot, need to try and get it more often. read more

This is my first time at Halligans. I had passed by it on the way to Goodfellas many times and never paid it any mind. This time, my friend and I decided to take a chance on this place when we could smell the food from the road.
