The food was decently good. Was not expecting too much, and it tasted fine. The service was sad to say the least. They might be understaffed but the server was busy talking and we had to ask another server for refills. The service was good and the food was fine but the facility was appalling. The method of cleaning the restrooms was to snake a hose from the bar area through the facility and hose the restrooms down with a slippery soapy solution leaving standing water. The hose was then left where it happened to end up. The last time we were there was the same situation. Took pictures that may be of interest to osha etc read more

On occasion I enjoy stopping at Applebee's because I think they have a fantastic French Onion soup. And because I'm a creature of habit my order never really strays. I enjoyed a cup of French Onion and a Chicken Caesar Salad, both being fairly simplistic dishes. I always ask for my soup without the bread and 7/10 times it's brought to the table with bread. And then I send it back. And then it comes back to me, same cup of soup with the bread and cheese removed, so there's really no way to win when you ask for no bread. It happens so often that I've came to the conclusion that my server enters it correctly and the kitchen does as they please. It's annoying but not the end of the world. It's Applebee's so I wasn't expecting much, but we were running errands all day and wanted something quick to eat. I got an order of boneless wings with side of fries with bleu cheese... it (bleu chz) came out (I kid you not) frozen. No big deal, we got another one and it wasn't frozen. I used that one and asked for another, and it was once again frozen. I told the server and she seemed to be new or just kind of out of it. She legit said okay. Like what? I don't know if she was having an off night or what but it was honestly some of the worst and slowest services we have had. Sucks because we don't eat out often and when we do we like to take care of our server with a great tip, at least $30 no matter how small the bill is. :/ won't be back. read more

I went tonight with my family and I finally left after my family got their food and ate theirs and my "corrected meal" came out wrong too. I asked for no mushrooms but got mushrooms so the "fixed" meal they brought it with no mushrooms but added shrimp - really didn't ask for shrimp. My husband got a soup it came with his meal and was cold they redid it and it was like warm. So I ate mozzarella sticks and drank 2 Pepsi's and left. My boyfriend and I chose against our better judgement to attempt to eat here last month. We were seated slowly even thought the restaurant was almost empty. We then proceeded to sit and wait for our server to come take our drink order for 20 minutes. The waitress walked past our table at least 3 times without even looking at us then went to sit with the hostess and talk. After the 20 minutes we decided to leave and walked out of the restaurant. Came in to order their "new" specialty steak dish, and it's not available! Asked about the happy hour appetizers and the server was reluctant to verify that it was offered! Finally after waiting another 20 mins to order. We order 3 appetizers (quesadilla) and asked if we can add extra cheese. Everything is a up charge! Ordered fountain drinks with NO ice! Got loaded with ICE!!! Notice the bartender and 2 servers (including ours) eating at the back table in between serving guest!!! And NOT washing their hands!!!!! We waited over 30 mins to get our food! Notice them playing on their cell phones for over 15 min straight not even paying any attention to the few guest (4 tables) in the restaurant! ordered curbside to go. husband arrived 5 mins early and was fully prepared to wait. when he called to say he arrived they said the food was not really and waited 15 mins. when he drove home, a whole 5 mins away, all the food was cold. we obviously don't expect things to be piping hot, but nothing was even warm. missing mashed potatoes on one order, wrong sauce on another, the chicken strips were so thin some of the middle didn't even have chicken. I enjoy using the carside to go. I have been disappointed lately due to the 4 cheese mac and cheese changing. The change in noodles to penne noodles has ruined the dish thus limiting what I enjoying eating here. The other meal I enjoy at Applebees is the Oriental Chicken Salad. Unfortunately it is made with a lot of cabbage and not so much greens lately which is disappointing when you want a good salad. Wife and I stopped in for a late lunch on a Monday. We waited for over two minutes to be sat in a half clean dining room by a hostess with hair down all over the place in a stained half untucked shirt with no name tag. We were sat in obviously the late lunch closers section in between two dirty booths. We were greeted by the server and brought our drinks in an appropriate amount of time. Our server was well groomed and polite. My wife ordered a cup of French Onion soup and then attempted to order the pasta and mozzarella sticks from the kids menu. We were told that that was not allowed because no one at the table was 12 and under? Excuse me?? Why on earth would you not allow someone to order something from a menu that you offer to the public? We are paying guests mind you, I am about to order a full sized adult meal and appetizer. Without making a scene but obviously offended by this policy we asked for more time to decide on a new meal. This time we sat, and sat, and sat, until I figured that the server was just waiting for us to leave and wasn't coming back. To be fair she did stick her head out of the kitchen as we stood up to leave as if she was just about to rush over....ridiculous. So we left and I called back to speak to Gary the manger on duty in charge of the front of the house. I explained to him the situation and even the reason for my wife ordering from childrens menus regardless of where we go because of her gastric bypass surgery and her need for much smaller portions than most adults. He was unsympathetic to my call and in fact a bit ignorant in general regarding guest service. When I explained to him that people can just order online or call in an order to go without providing proof of being 12 or under and his response was "we can't control what them people do!". went to applebee's on March 10,2018 met daughter and son-in-law for supper and granddaughter. All went well until server brought food out asked who had the triple bacon burger, no one had ordered that. My daughter said she had ordered a steak salad. Server apologized and took burger back about 5 minutes or so brings salad says burger was her mistake. we finish eating I pay bill at table my mistake didn't look bill over till I got home, they charged me for the extra burger. Called them right away manager said he would credit right away should show up next morning, NOPE! 13 days later and many phone calls got credited for just the burger no tax or any thing else. I would not recommend eating at Applebee's anytime soon unless they are going to change their policies! My daughters take me there for lunch and it's right after they oped up from Covid so many restrictions in place, which is wonderful to see! We sign in with host, go back to car to wait as told, then when texted to come in for table taken by a young host again to a DIRTY table filled with food scraps all over it and he says, "Sit here!" I tell him it's dirty and he then gets one towel and lays the paper menus and clean napkins for us on the dirty table, goes to get cleaner, brushes all some crumbs on booth seats and says "here you go!" No cleaning the booth at all or really even cleaning of the table because as I sit down on the crumbs all over my seat, I see more crumbs still on my paper menu that he's handed to me with the same gloves he's cleaned my table with!! I wish I had a friendly bartender. They don't have Miller light draft, and that night they didn't have Miller light in a a bottle. So I ordered a Gin tonic and they messed it up. It only takes two ingredients. I kind of feel rushed as well. I'll just stick to Buffalo wild wings when I visit in Mason city. The spicy Thai shrimp salad was average. The girls at the front door were very nice. I wish they were in the bar area versus the unpleasant looking woman that was working the bar. read more

Was in Mason City visiting my Dad for his birthday and he chose Applebee's for lunch. I haven't been in an Applebee's for awhile now and now I remover why. My Dad ordered a cheeseburger and I opted to try something new, the Brew Pub Philly. The presentation of my sandwich was something less than desired (and yes, I do realize I'm at a chain - not a gourmet restaurant) - half of the cheese wasn't even melted. I took my first bite - cold. The manager was walking by and I told him the meat in my sandwich was cold. He apologized and took it back and soon returned with a new sandwich and fries. This time the cheese was melted and the meat was warm, however the beef was so tough and stringy I ended up having to put a few "attempted at chewing" bites in my napkin and ended up removing all of the meat and had a cheese sandwich for lunch. It honestly was the worst Philly I've ever had and Philly's are one of my favorite sandwiches. read more

Party of 3 for my boyfriend's birthday. I ordered a burger, got MEAT & BURNED BUN, had to ask for lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, & mayo. Upon requesting that, I received everything but lettuce. Then our party was watching 60 Minutes for approximately 20 minutes, some guys came in, obviously knew the females working & all TV channels got changed, except one. My grandson asked to have the TV that was facing him turned back to 60 Minutes as well. We were told that only sports & weather was to be watched on the TVs! When asked why, a female who appeared to be around 12 years old, with absolutely zero people/customer service skills named Jacey(not sure if I spelled this correctly). came to our table, stating that she was the manager. When I asked her why we had been watching 60 Minutes previously, the channel was changed & she stated that she was too busy to change them before. I informed her that I did not want my burger anymore, suggested that she leave our table so that my boyfriend could enjoy his Birthday meal without an audience & perhaps she should return to her JOB, she got defensive & rudely told me to leave HER place or she was calling the police! Never once did she handle herself in a professional manner, nor did she try to give a positive explanation for not at least TRYING to honor a customer request. Alcohol was NOT a factor, & was not ordered by our party. We are 53-58 yr old business owners, my grandson in college. WE WILL NEVER FREQUENT THAT ESTABLISHMENT EVER AGAIN! read more
