The breaded mushrooms were actually really good, good quality of mushrooms (portobello), big, and homemade breading. The nachos were plentiful, but just okay. The chips were definitely not homemade and the beef was just a bit dry, I've definitely had better, but it was loaded with a nice amount of toppings and the salsa was good. Both were tons of food for us to split and be full to continue our journey home. Stopped here on our way to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It was easy to get to from the highway with ample parking. It's a restaurant next to a hotel. There was a mix of people there celebrating an event, couples having dinner, and a single guy chatting with a handful of tables (we were never able to determine if he actually knew those people or not). We were able to be seated right away and service was pretty quick. We ordered the Brussel sprouts, chicken wings, and hot honey pepperoni flatbread. All were really delicious. The flatbread could have had a little more spice, but overall a delicious meal. This was plenty of food for two people and enough to take some leftovers with us. During that time, two servers walked past us multiple times while bussing tables and attending to other tasks, despite the restaurant not appearing busy.We eventually left because it was clear we weren't going to be served.I don't know why we were ignored. Maybe it was simply poor service, but as an obvious lesbian couple dining with a man who has long hair, it certainly left us wondering whether we were being treated differently. When I finally got someone to look at me, I asked to be refunded and was met with anger and was told they had a 20 person table and they couldn't control it. So I am really torn on this restaurant. Food was excellent and the design is great. Looks like it could be a very nice restaurant. I had the steak bites and fries. With the garlic it had kind of an Asian accent to it. I also had mushrooms with it and fries. This is where it gets a little odd. They offer two types of steaks and do not offer a baked or mashed potato. Entrees are a la carte which is fine but sides are only included in their sandwiches. There was also a lot of clutter which (like an Allen wrench set) sitting at the hostess stand an some other random clutter which shows absence of a manager or owner (Definitely nobody on the floor) that was management. Secondly, I do not understand the pool tables. Based on everything else they are completely out of place and take up valuable seating. They just did not belong. This restaurant needs to figure what they want to be. The 3rd weird thing was a server either just got off work or getting ready to work, laying in a booth and the other two servers kept going over to talk to her. Adult workers should not be laying down in a booth at all, let alone during the dinner crowd. Maybe it was the manager which might explain some things. None of those oddities affected my personal dinner but if this place wants to survive they need management/ownership to be present. Overall this place is in between with an identity crisis. Our top-notch waiter was extraordinary in every way. Delightful personality, very ( but not overly) attentive, offered lots of good recommendations and he was spot on with each one. I really wish I'd caught his name; he deserves a big shout-out. As we finished up, the owner (Gent) stopped by our table and we had a lovely conversation. We really love this restaurant. They serve a decent variety of foods. The staff are friendly and helpful. The manager / owner of the restaurant always stops by the table to say hello which I think is wonderful. They have a variety of prices some of them are steep others are very reasonably priced and we always have a great meal there. I'm currently sitting at this very nice building that has a great looking bar. Unfortunately their food is less than desirable. Ordered a medium rare steak with sautéd mushrooms with asparagus and a side salad. Salad was dismal very small had one cherry tomato cut in half and a handful of carrots with maybe 12-14 spinach leaves and two dandelion looking leaves and one was very wilted and soggy. I picked out the wilted leaves and ate the rest. The steak came out looking good but was well done not medium rare like I ordered. The mushrooms were out of a can, might have been 3 whole small mushrooms if that, and 5 undercooked asparagus spears. Great presentation but the cooking was horrible. I do not recommend their steak. To their credit, they did get the second steak cooked correctly the second time. read more
