I was contacted by a ParellelHR recruiter in September 2011. The contact was a response to a resume…read moreI sent applying to a job I found on the Salt lake City Craigslist website. The recruiter told me the job was an IT position for Goldman Sachs, Inc at their SLC office. The recruiter arranged for me to meet with the Goldman people - and, after several interviews (phone and in person), I was offered a job. The ParallelHR recruiter told me to expect some forms from Goldman to come via email. After a couple of days and no forms, I called the recruiter. She said "they will send them at the end of the week, or early next week". No problem, I know how inefficient large corporations are and wasn't worried. I waited. After several days and no forms, I received a response to an email (I was starting to get worried) that "I talked to the Goldman HR people and you will get the forms within 2 weeks". Wow, that's pretty inefficient; but, the money offered was good and I wanted to work for the financial company that seems to rule the world these days (talk about stability!). So, I nervously waited. Of course, the forms never came and my emails and phone calls to the recruiter were not answered. After 2 months, I received a call from the recruiter asking me if I was still interested in the Goldman position. I returned the call, leaving a voicemail saying "Yes". I left this message 2 times and sent 2 emails. No response from the recruiter. I finally called and left a message complaining about my treatment by this recruiter. I received an email from the recruiter's boss the next day basically saying "It's not our fault, Goldman decided to cancel your job offer weeks ago, they have expressed interest in you again, but we will tell them you're not interested". A pretty cruel email. ParallelHR should have kept me informed and as soon as they received the information that Goldman had changed their mind about my job offer, they should have told me - not kept me hanging. It's bad enough that a company would make a job offer, then change their mind. But, the employment agency not even telling me about the situation is wrong, mean, and unethical. Sure, after 2 weeks and a few days, I assumed the job wasn't happening. But, during that 2 weeks, I rejected one job, turned down 2 interviews, and told companies responding to the many resumes I was sending out that I had been hired. I'd like to think I deserve at least some basic human respect. I've never been treated so badly by any company during a job search (or ever). I am unemployed and really need to find work. The Goldman job offer meant a lot to me. I was offered a much lower paying job at another company in SLC about the same time as I received the Goldman offer. Of course, i rejected the lower paying job since I had received the much better offer at Goldman Sachs. What a mistake, 4 months later, I'm still unemployed and my family is facing the worst Christmas ever. If you are a job searcher and you wish to be treated with respect in Salt lake City, UT - stay away from ParallelHR. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised by my poor treatment at the hands of the most powerful financial company in the world. However, I was surprised to be treated so poorly by a small employment agency in Salt lake City, Utah.
