I drove over an hour from Waverly to visit Appleton Harley-Davidson, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. One of the main reasons people visit different dealerships is to collect their local dealership shirts, but this store had very minimal inventory -- almost nothing to choose from. When I asked an employee if that was really all the selection they had, she had to go check, which tells me they weren't even aware of how little was available. That lack of awareness, combined with the poor selection, made the trip feel like a waste. I was greeted when I walked in, but overall the service was not great. For a Harley-Davidson dealership, I expected more. This is the first Harley store I've ever left disappointed. read more

I'll start by saying that everyone who works there, that I have met, are very polite and courteous. So, I was looking to buy the lowrider ST for my wife. I was originally dealing with moonshine Harley in Franklin. My buddy happened to be in Appleton and told them I was looking for one and they told me they could easily beat moonshines deal. We verbally agreed on the price of the bike. That price was not better than what moonshine offered but I live in Clarksville and it would just be easier. Go in to do the paperwork. My wife was the applicant for financing and I was just co-signing. Thats what we wanted, that's what we told them, and that's how we filled out the application. But instead they took it upon themselves to only put me on the loan. Was a little irritated. Then we sit down to sign the papers and I noticed they had the bike for $1,000.00 more than we agreed on. Mind you, Moonshine provided a better deal than the number we verbally agreed on, so this was even further away from the deal I would have got at moonshine. Yes, I could have just walked out but I had already paid a deposit, it still wasn't a bad deal on the bike and I just wanted to get it done. Was just more irritated because I expect the price on paper to be the price we agreed upon. Was then told they made sure my wife's name was down for the HOG membership as the bike is for her and I already had a membership. Fast forward a week and I find out he didn't put her down for it, it went to me. I also had all the aftermarket products thrown into the loan. Ordered everything there. We took the bike because she didn't want it waiting at the shop for all the parts when she could be riding it. Was then informed all the parts were in so I made an appointment with the service department to get the install. Right after I made the appointment I received a call from parts informing me they forgot the add the tuner itself in the deal but did add labor. Now he gave me a discount on the tuner but that was still out of pocket money I was not expecting. More irritated. Went to pick bike up and found out they also forgot to add the extended cables in the deal since the bike got risers. That was an extra 515.00 straight out of pocket we were not expecting. I will still go there to buy apparel, buy A part if I need one, and will still take my RGS and my wife's ST there for service. No issue with service, service department is great, or the store itself. The store itself is set up really nice and they have a lot of cool events. I'm not at the point to where I would actively persuade someone to buy a bike elsewhere, but in a couple years when I get my lowrider ST to go along with my RGS, I will not be looking to buy at Appleton. read more

I went to Appleton and purchased a Harley I was told it had had an inspection that there was nothing wrong with it except cosmetics all the bike needed was a rider I noticed on the second day of having it there were wiring issues I brushed it off got it fixed after a week of having it I was broke down on the side of the road the mounts for the rear shock had completly broken as well as a number of other issues I took it to a certified Harley mechanic who said I was lucky I wasn't injured or killed riding the bike that it was very unsafe so I did without the bike for a few more weeks then I get it back and my next ride the motor blows up I haven't managed to put 600 miles on a bike I've had for months the first sales manager I dealt with completly blew me off and ignored me then I was assured the new guy was going to be helpful he told me they would help me get on another bike and now he won't answer the phone or bother speaking to me I would not recommend this store to anyone I've had nothing but bad experiences with them waste of time and money read more

I am thoroughly satisfied with my motorcycle purchase from here. I ordered online of the HD-1 website with additional modifications. They handled the shit out of the order, had the bike ready to roll on time as promised. The dealership offered a sizable military discount and a fair offer for my trade in. This was later confirmed when I saw it for sale for only 100 dollars more than they gave me for it. The contracts were handled efficiently and at my convenience. The dealership sales staff always remembers my name, has never been pushy with their products and the owner will frequently come out just to shoot the shit. It should also be noted that many military members purchase their bikes online through AAFES while they are overseas. The dealership will match any AAFES price, which is pretty legit. I have heard of many problematic mistakes of bikes ordered through AAFES and would highly recommend purchasing through this sales staff after my experience. I like free pool and popcorn. read more

I ended up back at Appleton's when searching for a new bike. I bought my first one there in '05. I looked all over Nashville and surrounded areas for a good deal and best fit for me, as I now live in Williamson County. In "best fit", I mean overall experience from an inventory selection, attention to MY details given as to what I was looking for, trade-in value, sales/deal making, comfort with all staff and departments, closing, and service after the sale. DING DING DING. I was thoroughly impressed with Keith, Glen, Larry, Jason, Ryan, Cory, and everyone I met there. I dealt with a lot of dealers for autos and toys. This is the best experience ever, even better than in '05. I felt like family and still do with each return visit. Just a note, they beat everyone around by $3k on my deal and we're better on trade by over a grand. Granted, this will vary on each deal. But, the experience was the most notable part. I recently purchased(Yesterday) a new 2015 Roadglide, I went to Appleton's in order to get a sissy-bar. I found the sissy-bar that I wanted and it was $175.00(no big deal) but I tried to put it on in the parking lot and it would not fit. I talked to the mechanic and was told one of my shocks was upside down and would need to be flipped over, I'm thinking ok 2 bolts no big deal(and why wasn't it on right to begin with) I figured hey just spent 25k on a new bike they will take care of it no charge, the mechanic proceeds to tell me that it will be $40.00 to flip the shock around and that's how they make there money. I understand the mechanic's have to make money but, didn't I just spend 25k on a bike with a part incorrectly installed?? I want to state for the record I will now be taking any problems with my bike to another dealership. They couldn't see why this was a big deal to me. After having a horrible experience at a KY dealer, we came back to Appleton to buy a trike on our second visit. From the moment we arrived, we felt like family. During our move, we had stopped in and it was the chili cook off weekend. We were greeted by Billie, welcomed in and chatted about our move here. She told us lots about the area, the Hog chapter, the events at the store and enjoyed some laughs with my husband. Fast forward 5 months and we come back in to talk about a trade in and the purchase of a trike....and who meets us again, AND remembers us -- Billie!! Between she and Jason we have become like family members with this dealership. Out of all the vehicles purchases I have ever made, the best experience I ever had making a purchase was at Appleton Harley. My experience with the dealership began when I decided to take the Rider's Edge New Rider Course. My successful completion of the course led to me getting my motorcycle endorsement. After completion of the course, I returned to the dealership more than once. Members of the staff remembered me at each visit. The dealership has a very laid back atmosphere. I have been to dealerships before where you weren't allowed to sit on any of the bikes. Not at Appleton. Customers are encouraged to sit on the bikes. After several trips, I finally decided which Harley to buy. As with any vehicle purchase, I prepared myself to haggle the price down. I was surprised to hear instead that I was being offered a deep discount on my motorcycle without ever having to talk down the price. As I am a new rider, more than one staff member made sure I had safe places to ride at first as well as experienced riders to teach me how to ride better. So math is not the best at this store and if your military stay away from this store unless you don't mind getting screwed.
