Their very slick website says that they are able to service LG products but as it turns out when a part is required they aren't actually certified by LG and so can't get any parts. I paid $280 for them to diagnose a problem they couldn't fix only to have to pay another $200 to LG themselves to come out, diagnose the same problem, and install the part. So original problem was the digital display on our fridge that controls the temperature either wouldn't change numbers at all (eg. I push the + or - button and the number stayed same) or the display just showed "-" (as in no number). Has happenened three times in past 6 months, and lasted about 6 hrs... Then it would work again. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE- SCAM, SCAM, SCAM.... So, I was stupid. I googled "Whirlpool Repair" and got the Appliance Repair Guys as a first hit. I should have checked them out on HomeStars first as you can see. But page looked good, their online booking was good, and them seemed nice in email confirmations. I wasn't there when their "technician" came (Monday), but our nanny was. They did tell me ahead of time there was an 80$ charge to come out. Which I accepted so... I'd accept that. So the guy calls me, and it was hard to understand him (accent/ mumbled), and tells me that the good news he can fix the "board" to fix the display. He said the bad news is he found a Freon leak, which they couldn't fix. I asked if it was a danger to kids. Answer: no. I asked is this something I need to get fixed now, 1 week, 1 month, 1 year from now? Technician said hard to tell, you'll just see the fridge getting warmer over next few months. He said you'll be fine for a bit but get it fixed soon. Told me it was 300$ for all the inspection, and to fix main board, and he cleaned the compressor, condenser, evaporation system. Within 12 hours of him leaving the fridge hasn't worked since. At least before, it was a once ever 3 months... I called their offices at 1-877-723-1777 and after a little run around, got connected with an "Alana", the service manager. We went back and forth for a few days, and basically she said the problem is the Freon. We fixed what we said we would. You need to get your fridge replaced. Well- they didn't fix anything. Everything is fake about Appliance repair guys. Their web site is nice, but it is a big lie. They don't work 24/7, they are not highly skilled technicians and do not provide quality service at a reasonable price. Actually, it is all the opposite. I called them for my fridge which stopped cooling. Sure, they'll do. I paid $280 for the labor which lasted 30 minutes, and $200 for the parts. Two days later fridge stopped working again. My mom asked that I post this review on her behalf. "My washing machine was making a squeaky noise so I scheduled an appointment with The Applicance Repair Guys for January 13th. After working on the machine, they charged me $316 and told me it was fixed. They insisted I could only pay with debit and not Visa so I complied. Two days later, the machine was making a different noise. I called them and they directed me to fill out a warranty form online. The repair man returned on January 17th while I was out of town. He called me to tell me he had replaced one of the wheels. He also mentioed that I would eventually need three more replaced but that it was fine for now. He charged me for the service call even though I was told there would not be a charge. I decided to pay for it using Visa (which was now an option) because I thought I was paying for the wheel. In fact, the repair man wrote on the invoice (in broken English) "it again need 3 wheels" When I returned from out of town, I called to complain as the machine sounded worse than it had previously. I was then given the ultimate run around. I was told I could not speak to an owner and then was told they would ask and get back to me. They outright lied to me and said I was called back when they had clearly never attempted to reach me. When I called a second time, they insisted that if he put on a new wheel, he did not charge me and that the $80 was for the service call (which was supposed to be covered by the warranty). At the end of multiple calls, they refused to do anything. I am now out $400 and only $90 can be recouped from Visa as a result of a chargeback." read more

I was told it was repaired and given a total over the phone for labour of about $300.00, which I paid right away over the phone. The same night the problem re-appeared and they sent out the repair guy again. Now all of the sudden the pump needs to be replaced for another $400.00. So, I still have a broken dishwasher and I'm out $300.00. When I phoned I was unable to get any sort of refund. What did I pay you for!? Terrible service, incompetent, rude and unprofessional. I wish I had read these reviews before hiring them. Avoid this service at all costs. They are complete crooks. Here is my unfortunate story. I rent out a condo, and my tenant complained that the dyer was leaving burn marks on clothes, so I called Appliance Repair Guys in May 2015 to repair it. The repairman inspected the dryer and assured me that dyer could be repaired and was worth repairing. He worked on it and I was charged $316. My tenant then moved out and a new tenant moved in in August. The new tenant immediately reported that the dryer was still burning clothes, so I called Repair Guys again. They refused to accept any responsibility for the fact the machine was still not working, saying it had been too long since it was repaired. They had no interest in the fact that the machine had not been used in June and July. So they serviced it again on September 8, 2015, and it cost me another $265. After this second repair, the dyer was in worse shape than ever, as the door would now spring open after it had been on for a few minutes. I called and complained and they told me the dyer needed a new part, which would cost $240. So I agreed to pay for this new part, and it was installed on October 2. The tenants reported back the next day that the dryer was still burning clothes. So I spent over $820 trying to repair this dyer, and they never fixed the original problem. On October 15, 2015, I wrote Ilona, the Customer Service Manager (after a variety of unpleasant and rude interactions with her on the phone), as follows and she never replied: Ilona, The dryer is still burning clothes, so I will now simply have to replace the whole washer/dryer unit. The burning of clothes was the original problem for which I called your company in May. At the time of the first assessment, your repair guy assured me that the dryer could be fixed and it was worth repairing. His first and second attempt to repair it didn't work, and replacing the part also had no effect. After paying you over $820 to repair the dryer, it still has not been repaired. Your service has been worse than useless. I know you have no interest in the matter, because you've been paid and that's all your company cares about. Was getting my fridge fixed as the the hinges were causing the fridge to not close properly. They came out and quoted $750 to replace everything and the price was high because "two" techs were needed. When the ONE service guy actually came to fix it they put in a new gasket and some other parts, but the hinge problem was still there. So i called their warranty service and when they came out, they said everything was fine. Because everything was fine, they charged me another $60. Complete rip-off organization. Came to fix dishwasher, told me it needed to be resealed and cost me $650. AFTER THAT, days later, it still was giving me the same error code and they still want to charge to come out and fix it AGAIN - when they didn't get it right the first time. They also reinstalled a new belt on my dryer but ripped the teeth on my dryer vent gasket and never told us. We didn't discover this until the laundry room had humidity all over the walls because the hot air was not ventilated out. Now I have to order the parts myself from Britain and re-do the ventilation all over because if I ask them to do, they will charge me WHEN THEY SHOULD BE COMING FOR FREE TO RECITFY THE PROBLEM. When you have a problem and relay it to them, they refer you to this Warranty Link at the bottom of their website where you have to fill out a form and are given MINIMAL characters to enter your situation. They do this so they don't get the full story and you are stuck with them relaying an email of how much more they will charge you come out...even if it's just to come and check out the situation. Would highly recommend staying away. Came and said they would diagnose fault for $80. Diagnosed a fault with the control board and said $280 to repair. Shortly after I agreed to the repair charge he informed me fault was with the heating coil of the dryer. Now it's an additional $347 for parts, 3 weeks to get parts and the faults not with what they diagnosed. Online I could find the replacement coil for $100 dollars. Refused to go further with the repair but stuck still with the $280 charge even though they misdiagnosed the fault. read more

Put a 'temporary fix' in for ignition - not documented and company denies this was ever done - removed original wiring which I now need to pay extra to get back _DID THEY NEED IT FOR ANOTHER CUSTOMER AND STOLE MINE ?? When quotes for parts came in it was astronomical and they denied labour was paid. I had to order my own parts independently and have a separate company in for install. I agree with George who said avoid these guys like the plague. My fridge was leaking and I called these guys to come fix it. The guy that came told me he needed me to pay $280 labour to fix it. He said it may need parts eventually, but if he had to come back and replace parts there would be no further labour charge. After half an hour he left and told me to try the fridge in 8-10 hours. When I turned it back on it was leaking even worse. When I called back to say the fix hadn't worked I was told that there would be a charge of $110 for the part and another $180 "installation", which apparently is way different than labour. Do not use this shady company!!! I was suckered in by the fancy website. What they don't tell you is that labour is immediately $280, no matter what the issue. If you don't accept, then they demand $80 just for showing up. I had problems with both my washer and dryer. I knew the dryer issue was that it needed a new drive belt. But the technician claimed a lot of things were wrong to scare me into accepting the high labour cost. Turns out I was right and it only took a few minutes to change it. The price of the new belt was ridiculous too - $90. Overall, an incredible waste of money. Then the washer.... Same $280 labour - it wasn't even bundled with the dryer. Then i was told i had to buy a new pump, $345 dollars that they had to order - and no they had to buy only real Samsung brand parts, not generics. Paid for half of the pump up front and waited. When he comes back and installs the pump, the dryer still doesn't work. Turns out the inner tub is degraded and it would be $955 for the new part. Crazy!!! No way I said. But would they offer to take back the new pump i won't be using after all? Or rebate the labour since he hadn't caught the problem earlier by doing a proper diagnostic? NO!!!! This is just a very EXPENSIVE and manipulative company to deal with. Technician came into the house to repair dishwasher. After less than 2 minutes the technician had a repair quote of $280.00. Less than 45 minutes he was gone. Machine appears to be fixed which is a lot more than some people can say. When you call to complain of charge ($280 for 45 minutes work, which works out to $375 / hour) the customer service clerk indicates well you agreed up front, and that the labour charge is flat rate. RUN DO NOT WASTE your time, they offered me $35.00 refund but wanted me to sign waiver saying I wouldn't say anything negative on social media. I unfortunately did not do enough on-line due diligence. Be forewarned, EXPENSIVE if you look at better business bureau, almost everyone is saying the same thing, $280 - $300 upfront labour charge. These people are abosolute CROOKS! We've owned our Maytag washing machine for about 9 years now, and recently it has not been working properly. It fills up with water and then does nothing, basically. We had found a number for a guy that did private repairs, but his lack of professionalism turned us off, so we decided to look around. Appliance Repair Guys was the first link that appeared in the google search, and their website coupled with "reviews" looked very promising. We called to set up an appointment and were told that there would be an $80 fee to come to come inspect the machine. Fair enough, we went ahead and set up the appointment. This was done on a Saturday (02/01/14), and we were told they would be on site the next day (Sunday). They later called to say they had to reschedule until later in the week. This is funny though, because on their site it specifically states they come on the same day. LIE! Finally a repair guy shows up on Tuesday (02/04/14) to diagnose the issue. He said a part needed to be ordered, and my mom basically went ahead and agreed to let them repair the problem. She paid over $300 in labour costs, and was told the part, which would have to be ordered, was $265+ tax. They tell you that if you agree to go ahead and use their services then the $80 fee to come out and inspect the issue would be waived, but they conveniently leave out their OUTRAGEOUS labour fees. My mom agreed to pay, as she wanted the issue to be resolved quickly so we could get back to using our machine. On February 27th, 2014 the same repair guy returns and "fixes" the machine with the replaced part. Two days later, the machine is not working. My mom called them and was directed to fill out some sort of warranty information online. A couple days later they call her and tell her that based on the information, it appears to be a "new" issue and "unfortunately" this would be an extra cost to repair. Ummm, seriously? She tells my mom that because we are a "returning customer" the fee to come and look at the machine would be $50, but my mom insists it was not a new problem and that he needed to come back and inspect his work. The repair guy comes to once again "diagnose" the problem and then says now there is another problem with the computer in the machine. My mom asked why this wasn't found upon his first visit and he gave her some reasoning as to "I didn't check for that the first time." My mom tells him she's not paying them another dime, because all of these issues should have been addressed. He leaves. Shortly after some woman from customer service calls basically screaming about how "we're stealing" and how we wasted their guy's time etc. My mom reiterates she is not paying them, and now they've sent it to collections. The technician that came out could tell me what the labour to fix the defroster would be ($280), but could not tell me what was wrong until he got started nor could he provide an estimate on what parts may cost...but yet he's confident on the labour cost ...Huh??? His comment "Sir, it would be unethical for me to tell you what I may think may be the problem or what parts may cost" What???? He refused to even give a range or even a scenario. All I was looking for was an educated guess from a technician who does this day in and day out. Boy i wish i read these reviews beforehand, my story is similar...THEY ARE A BUNCH OF LIARS!!!!!!!!!BEWARE The person who booked my service told me it would be $80 to triage the problem but if we chose them to fix the problem the $80 would be wiaved. The technician told me the $300 I was paying would be for the cost to fix my fridge when the part came in and the only additional cost would be for the part. I asked him 3 times to confirm this and that the $80 would be waived and he confirmed. A month later after I had to phone them, i learn they cant get the part. I made two phone calls and within 5 mins found the part, but because its not one of their suppliers they cant source it...what a bunch of BS!!!!!!!! I asked to speak with the manager as i wanted a refund for the $300 as they had not done the work. I was told by customer service that the $300 was for the work they did on the one and only visit and that the owners dont speak to customers. I was livid and explained that there technitian lied to me and i wanted my money back. She told me she would see what she could do and call me the next morning. I then wisened and yelped them to discover 4 similar situations. I called her back and told her not to bother calling me as i found 4 other reviews with eerily similar situations that agreed they were crooks and liars. I work for a not for profit and we were in a bind to have a whirlpool fridge looked at for a faulty door gasket. Called The Appliance Repair Guys and when they arrived, they convinced the staff on site that a new defrost timer was needed. They installed it at an incredibly inflated price and left. The fridge was now fully broken, new part not working and when we finaly got them back out they were in and out noting a new door gasket was needed - again at a hugely inflated price. So, after paying $550 we now have a fridge that is completely fried and The Appliance Repair guys could not care less. Avoid this company at all costs! read more

Given how expensive this was, just for a door hinge, my partner and I looked into it further. We ended up being able to fix the microwave on our own, in 30 mins for less than $3. Furthermore the guy told us the wrong parts were needed when he came for the service call. HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE EXPERT. Thank goodness we didn't move forward with the repairs, but we are still out $90 for NOTHING!! I called the company to ask for a refund for the service call fee and the management was SO RUDE, and could care less, they provided no solutions, or accomodations and barely listened to what I had to day. This company is a great example of an organization that is NOT customer focused. One can't believe what horrible customer service this company has. We spent close to $700 on a washing machine that is over 10 years old on their repairmans advice. Within their 30 day warranty service period our washer exhibited the exact same problem that we originally called them about. When we called them we were told someone would call us the next day. We ended up calling them the next day and were told we had to fill out an online warranty request. Their company policy was that it would take 48 hours for a reply. After 48 hours (now a total of three days) a repair person showed up. He adjusted a few wires inside the machine and got it going in a test cycle, mumbled something about it needing a new motherboard and left before the test cycle finished. He spent about 10 minutes total. When we went to use the washer following the test cycle completion, the washer would not work exhibiting the same problem that we originally contacted them about. What's more frustrating is that I called customer service to get the repair person back. Not getting any answers and completely frustrated I asked to speak to the manager. I was told the manager was on the phone so I indicated I would wait on the phone until she was finished her call. It turns out that their customer service line times out and hangs up on customers after a set period. When it first happened I called back and they apologized. Obviously my frustration level was rising. After waiting several minutes the customer service rep came on the line and explained that the line times out. Growing even more commented how silly it is that a customer service line times out. After my fourth time out and call back I was told the manager was no longer available and a message had gone in to her to call me back. When I insisted on staying on the phone to wait for the manager they physically hung up on me. When I called back I was told that they would call the police if I called back again. I was shocked and by now completely frustrated and angry. I have since talked to the manager and was told I'm getting no refund. Placed a service call on Feb 23, 2016 to fix my dryer... Their serviceman was here for under 10 minutes and literally just tested the voltage of the plug the dryer was plugged into. My dad who was here at the time told the service man that sometimes he flips the breaker and the dryer starts working... so the guy asked him to flip the breaker (all of this information I provided when I called in for service) The dryer started to work so the guy says this is an electrical problem with the breaker that he cannot fix, then left. He charged my father $316!!!! When I called the office to speak to a manager, she said that he was at my home for an hour. She also said he serviced the panel of the dryer, checked all the fuses and the heating element. If by checking heating element, he opened the drum to the dryer, then yes... anything else certainly not! I assured her he did not and she stated that she isn't a technician. I explained to her that I wasn't lying and to ask her contractor for a full report of what panel he inspected and which fuses he looked at. She said she would not. I asked her for all of this in writing... her email basically stated that I did not understand the $80 charge. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS. They are unprofessional and complete rip off. read more

The company advertised a $80 service call to review and diagnose repair problem with our microwave unit. Upon arrival, and before even looking inside the unit to investigate, we were told we needed to pay $260 (+HST) to get a full diagnoses. After agreeing to this, and after he opened machine, the service man claimed we needed a replacement part, which he did not have and indicated it would cost an additional $50-$70 for replacement part. He promised to call within 48 hours. No return call was made. We repeatedly called and did not get an answer, finally after 5 days, we were told a voice mail was left with part quotation - no voice mail was left. Over the phone, the company said they did get a price for the part of $370+HST. Given we had already spent nearly $300 on a 'diagnoses', we rejected the cost of the part as this would have made the total cost of repairs over $600.00, more than the cost of replacing the unit with a new one. We think this companies practise of promising a $80 service call, and then demanding the customer sign to pay $260+HST before the technician even opens the appliance is a scam of up-selling and is not good business practise. We don't expect to get our money back as we were foolish in believe we could get this repaired for under $400.00. However, we want to make the BBB and general public aware of this shady business praises of this company so that others will not fall victim to the same scam. read more

Rip off company, they cancelled repair call last min and rebooked. I had to cancel and they charged me 90 bucks. told me it was their policy on the website even though I never saw it or agreed to it. now collections has called and when I explained to them they said this company has a reputation for this but there is nothing they can do.
