The first time we had…read moresomeone come, he pulled apart my entire dryer and told us that they just needed to replace the drum belt but also replaced pulley's and a few other parts. The first repair person told us that we had a 3 month warranty. After the first repair, our dryer started making a nose that sounded like metal gridding against each other, we thought, maybe it's the new parts molding to the dryer but as the weeks progressed it got worse. So I called Hanks because their repair person was the last to touch the dryer. They send a different repair person to my house. Again, he pulls apart the entire dryer and tells me one of the parts is broken and I need to pay for it. NO THANKS...it's a part that you replaced. For some reason, the first repair man did not note it on the work order but verbally told us what he replaced. I told Repair man #2 that I was not paying for it and he can call who he needs to in order to do the job because had repair man #1 not touched what was not broken then we wouldn't be in the position. Repair man #2 called his "boss" who spoke with my husband and while speaking with my husband told him "why did you wait for 2 months" fair enough, but I have a warranty for a reason and I'm going to use it because again, it's a part that a repair person from Hank's replaced. Repair man #2's "boss" tells him to take him off of speaker phone not knowing I can still hear him and says to him "do you have the part? if so, replace it and tell them to fuck off and get the hell out of there" Perhaps you want to try and track who repair person #2 was speaking with and train them on their customer service and professionalism.

Setting up an appointment was very easy. The inspector, Jim, is very friendly and approachable. He is very knowledgeable in his field, and extremely thorough in the inspection, noting not only big things, but even the small details, such as a missing screw in the fuse box. All during the inspection Jim would answer questions and point out things that need repair or altering. He also has a great infra-red camera that can identify hiding cold/damp spots in the walls and ceilings Everything is documented in writing and photographs, and he emails a thorough report at the end of the inspection. Prices aren't the cheapest, but certainly not the most expensive in the area. But in my opinion the prices charged are fair, and certainly value for money. I was more than happy with the service received.

Travis…read morecame out with a camera, ran it through the pipes, and found two blockages we had no idea were there. He cleared both and walked us through what he was seeing as he went. There is more work to do down the line and we will be calling them again when we do it. Travis and his assistant were friendly, professional and genuinely easy to talk to. They wore shoe covers and took real care to leave everything clean, which we noticed and appreciated. No pressure, no upselling, just a clear explanation of what was wrong and what it would take to fix. If you need emergency plumbing in Ajax, ask for Travis. We were really impressed.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Sewer Squad, particularly because I hired them…read moreat one of the most difficult and vulnerable times a homeowner can experience. After suffering two back-to-back floods, I hired Sewer Squad to install a backwater valve because the City of St. Catharines offers the FLAP grant program. On Sewer Squad's recommendation, I also agreed to have a sump pump installed. Before proceeding, I brought the FLAP program information directly to Giulian. He reviewed it and assured me they understood the requirements and could support the process. I was also specifically told that Sewer Squad handled the necessary permits and related requirements. That did not happen. To my shock, I discovered that no plumbing permit had been applied for, and the requirements necessary for the FLAP program had not been properly completed. I ultimately had to go onto the City of St. Catharines website myself, apply and pay for the plumbing permit, and submit the FLAP application. This is particularly serious because you cannot simply arrange the required City plumbing inspection without the proper permit. Even worse, my home flooded for a THIRD time after Sewer Squad completed this work. Over the following two weeks, I dealt with multiple emails, conversations and explanations from Sewer Squad that simply did not line up with what I was subsequently learning from the City and the inspector. I discovered that the sump pump did not have the backup I believed was required and that it was not connected to the weeping tile system. Then came the latest unbelievable situation: Sewer Squad did not show up for the plumbing inspection. The inspection failed. The work necessary for it to pass had not been completed, and Sewer Squad has still not returned to properly resolve the outstanding issues. I contacted the City inspector myself, and he confirmed to me that Sewer Squad knew what needed to be done before he could return to reinspect the work. I am also still waiting for the required camera footage that I need for my insurance company and the inspector. Because this remains unresolved, I have now had to hire another company to take over the work and retain a lawyer. What makes this experience especially upsetting is the timing. Our family was dealing with repeated flooding, sewage damage and enormous stress. This was exactly when we needed to be able to trust the professionals we hired. I also wish I had been more cautious after hearing discussions about offering "cash" deals to people who did not have insurance coverage. In hindsight, that should have raised concerns for me. I am sharing this review because homeowners dealing with flooding are already overwhelmed. When hiring a company for a backwater valve, sump pump or work connected to a municipal grant program, verify the permit yourself, confirm exactly what is included in writing, confirm the installation meets the City's requirements, and make sure all inspections are completed before considering the job finished. My experience with Sewer Squad has resulted in additional expense, additional stress, a failed inspection, another flood, another contractor being brought in to address the work, and now legal involvement. After everything our family has already been through, this experience has been absolutely awful.
