Up until 2019 we paid for annual service agreements via Sears in case anything happened them. But, with Sears' rickety lifeline, we decided to forego them for 2020 as who knows if they'll even be in business! Service agreements aren't cheap either, costing about $500 a year to cover five appliances. I figured it'd also be wise to not put in extra money to aging machinery as well. Of course after said service agreement stopped, something goes wrong. In this case it was our Kitchen Aid side-by-side refrigerator/freezer - the ice maker to be exact. While it still produced ice, the water to refill the ice tray was shooting out too strong so we had icicles and mini frozen waterfalls on the ice maker and shelves. Enter Kelly's Appliance Repair. EXPERIENCE: I remember my parents used him in the past, so I got his info through them. Phoned and left a voicemail in which he called back soon after. Our schedules weren't jiving that week but once we connected, it was all downhill from there. He came by to look at the problem then called back a few days later to schedule the repair. Turns out the part (name forgotten) that controls the amount of water being disbursed into the ice tray was the cause. The opening got too large from age which resulted in our unwanted Antarctic landscape. The part was changed and he said to watch it because if the problem re-occurs, we'll need a new ice maker. He didn't even leave us a bill as he charges after the problem is resolved. Who does that nowadays? OVERALL: He's the real deal. Honest, affordable, friendly, professional, local-style service. It's an airbnb so who knows what the guest was doing. But when my cleaner tried to wash again - it did not work. At first Amber offered to send him back because of their warranty. The owner chimed in an basically told me to F off and said he would not come back. I had zero issue with paying but at least add wanted the issue addressed - even if he told us - it can't be fixed - it happens - he just refused to go back and stood by "no problem found". We did in fact need to buy a new washer dryer set and our cleaner was not able to use the old ONE SINGLE TIME after his "no problem found" diagnosis. I suspect he's not a bad guy - maybe it was a bad day.

They took my credit card information and said they would not charge until the job is complete. They charged it before ever even called me back to know when they could complete the job. I left seven messages and did not get one phone call back. I was trying to inform them that I found another repair person that fixed it. They're on site immediately and that what they were claiming to be wrong with the dryer was incorrect. I am disputing the charge with my credit card company as they did no work at all and have tried to bill me almost $800.

The first one I called was Maui Repair Service and Tim was extremely helpful, looking up the correct part, quoting a competitive price for labour and taking a cc payment for the parts. He kept in touch with me regarding their arrival and a date to install, calling me a couple of times and fitting in with my schedule which I really appreciated. His customer service was excellent. Weirdest thing ever. Last week I called MB Appliance to have someone fix my refrigerator. This is a…read morerecurring issue, and I'd had it fixed last year by someone I couldn't reach this time. These guys got someone out immediately, so I was very grateful. Mario was here within 30 minutes, and when he got here, he stood looking at the fridge (not even opening it) for several minutes before saying anything at all. Then he mentioned that he'd been out several times in the past for this same fridge (previous owner of the house) and had never figured out what was wrong. He took a couple of panels off, checked a few things, and said that he didn't know what to do, no charge for that day because he hadn't fixed anything, but call again Monday if the fridge didn't start cooling. Fifteen minutes after walking through our door he was gone. A few minutes after he left, another repair person returned my call from earlier, and came out an hour later. He took things apart, showed my husband what had happened so that when the issue arises again my husband can fix it, and charged a reasonable rate. Just now, the office of MB Appliance called me to ask where I wanted my invoice sent. I was confused, and asked what invoice. The woman said "For fixing the refrigerator." I explained what had happened, she said "Tell that to Mario," I said "Mario's the one who said there was no charge because he didn't do anything." Silence for a moment, then she said "Don't ever call us again!" and then hung up. Done.

This way I could confirm the company could repair my oven. . 11/19/14- Julie emailed me back to let me know they were off island until 12/2/14. She asked if that would be an okay day for repair. I accepted. 11/19/14-12/2/14 no one ever called me to confirm any details on my repair request. 12/2/14- after being without an oven for several weeks and waiting (overall) two weeks for this repair appointment I was incredibly disappointed when the repair man walked into my kitchen, looked at me like I was insane and said he can't fix it. When I asked why, he said he doesn't work on gas ovens! Isn't this something that should be established before making me wait two weeks for the appointment. Gas ovens aren't uncommon. I reread the company profile on yelp, and I didn't miss any description about this. . . Might want to update their info so they don't waste their time or mine..
