For years I have occasionally shopped for clothing at Anthropologie. I think that the styles are creative and that the clothing is well-made. As other reviewers have noted, the prices are higher than what some other stores charge, but the quality is high, and the store has a sale section that most people could afford. During my most recent visit, I browsed around the store for minutes, and then an employee asked me if I needed any assistance--while very obviously looking me up-down. Eek! My household income is in the top 1%, but I was wearing middle-class attire such as HOKA (which Anthropologie sells!) and The North Face. I think that her verbal communication was fine but that her nonverbal communication could improve. I saw a dress and shirt that I liked, but I did not buy them. I think that I will shop through their website.

We decided that it was a good opportunity to get out of the cold and take a quick peek inside. The owner greeted us with a friendly hello and advised us that winter clothes were on sale with deep discounts. We start to browse but before we knew it, we both had a pile of clothes to try on. As we explored the clothes rack, we chatted with the owner who amazingly memorized all the ticketed prices on each item we selected and was easily able to quote what the discounted price was quickly off the top of her head. We were amazed bc she had hundreds of items and there was no way we would be able to memorize the price for each individual piece. We were in this shop for over an hour. We had so much fun trying on the clothes and finding great pieces. We both walked away with a bag full of clothes and very happy customers! Too bad we live so far away, otherwise we would make regular trips to this shop.
