I went to her and was stuck in a work meeting, and called the office to let them know I was getting there as soon as possible. I arrived In the 15 minute late window and they wouldn't let me in for me appt. I was upset because I was there. So they rebooked my appt without consulting me and I decided to take the appt even though it was a very difficult day for me. She was unfriendly, and abrupt. She basically accused me of being on drugs??? When I told her that would be impossible as I am drug tested at work regularly, she said "That doesn't matter, you could still be on drugs...". I was flabbergasted, and then she accused me of biting my nails and being stressed. (I had just had artificial nails removed). I was there for my medication refill which she replied "Oh I'll think about it." I immediately found a fantastic doctor. My pharmacy keeps getting medication requests for me from her, but the issue is, they do 90 days and I haven't seen her since last summer. She is not good at all. I want to take her off my Mycharts. The reviews I saw of Dr. Artis really scared me but the doctor I normally see had left the practice so I went to her. My appointment was for a physical. She did all the routine things. I can't say she did anything wrong. Initially she wasn't very friendly but she warmed up over the course of the visit and took the time to explain what my earlier lab reports revealed. So I think she was OK. One thing that was unusual, there is a steroid drug that I take on occasion when I have a flareup of the condition. Every other doctor I've had has renewed my prescription for it without comment. She said she would refill it this time but I needed to see a specialist. I'm not sure why. I already saw a specialist initially who prescribed it several years ago, and it works. Maybe she's right and all the other doctors were wrong? Her front desk needs help. They were busy talking to each other rather than finding out the needs of the people in the waiting room. read more

Tried to get a PCP doctor who looked like me so I was happy when I found her. Unfortunately she has dropped the ball on a major Issue I was having. I came in to my annual complaining about incontinence. Did blood work, urine, the whole nine. Labs came back and it was radio silent after that appt. So I continued to suffer until my obgyn appt several months later. Low and behold, it was an UTI and I finally got antibiotics to help me and finally get relief. I see her the next year and was telling her about my blood work I needed and I was sorted from a utility the year before and she started, that I had one when I seen her the last time I we there (the same uti I was complaining about with her. She ain't even realize she never prescribed me meds for it nor did she give that diagnosis to me AT ALL! I suffered for almost a year cuz she didn't do her job and didn't follow up. Then she gave me a flu shot that I didn't ask for and told her I didn't want. I thought it was my tetanus shot, that was actually needed. I don't recommend. read more

I saw Dr. Artis on 4/20/21 for a new patient physical and to say that my experience was interesting is an understatement. Let's review: First, she opens the conversation by letting me know that if I've not been vaccinated then she won't be in the room very long and even after I told her that I had received my first shot and my second is in two weeks, she continued to remind me that she won't be in the room long on several other occasions. Trying to be a diligent patient, I bought all of my recent labs and tests from my OBGYN and to that she said, "I don't read other doctors' labs." She went on to say over and over again how the labs were all over the place, she couldn't understand them, etc. These labs were performed by Labcorp; surely this couldn't be the first time she saw lab results from one of the biggest testing labs in the country. She relied on me to tell her what the labs said, which I did. Next, while examining me she suddenly yells, "Is your phone on? Are you recording??!" I was so taken aback. Lady, what?? I explained that my phone is on silent and I am indeed not recording her. I just met this lady; for what reasons would I be recording her (although retrospectively, her behavior probably should've been recorded). Literally every question that I asked her was responded to with, "Oh, that's out of my wheelhouse, ask your OBGYN." She gave off the "it's not my job" vibe your co-workers sometimes do. I just stopped asking questions. This was the worst doctor's visit I've ever had. Dr. Artis has no tact, professionalism or empathy and it's really sad because I drove an hour out of the way just to see a female doctor who looked like me in hopes that I would have a rewarding experience. I like Dr. Artis...very knowledgeable, she can be a little no nonsense though. In the 2 years I went to her before I moved away from Atlanta, I don't think I ever heard her laugh or relax a bit. But I never felt like she didn't want me to be in the best health possible and that's truly what matters most. She was extremely helpful in getting me sample meds so I didn't have to go to the pharmacy. She kept me getting blood work, Lawd who likes needles???? but I'd rather be stuck than having issues that I don't know is happening. Bottom line, ALWAYS professional, never rude and the staff in the office was always nice as well. If I didn't move away, I definitely would have continued seeing her. read more

Ok, I'm sorry but reading these reviews I feel like some of you saw a different doctor. Because Dr. April Artis has been my doctor for almost 10yrs. She last very professional, she has really good bedside manner and very knowledgeable. Does she push you to live a healthy lifestyle, Yes! She also will tell you like it is and for that I love it. I give this doctor a zero. No humanity or compassion. I had an appointment with Dr. Artis on 9/2/2021 and when she came into the room, I had my mask on covering my mouth but not my nose. She saw that and said that I had to cover my nose. I said I have a problem breathing if my nose is covered. She said, Well she would have to do a video visit. Now keep in mind that I am in her presence, in the exam room and she is telling me about a video visit. I then said, well I can put the mask over my nose for a moment but I will have to take it down continuously to get some air. Dr. Artis, still said no, we would have to do a video visit due to covid. I then said how would that work? She said, they would bring in a computer with a camera and she would be in another room and conduct the visit that way. I said, well how would you examine me to know what's wrong? She said, she would ask me questions via video & come back in the room to examine me if deemed necessary. I said ok and she left the room to get the equipment. I thought that this was beyond ridiculous and me and my husband decided to leave. She never asked about my breathing issue as to why it exist, nor did she ask me if I had a recent covid test. I was in a coma earlier this year due to a blood thinner that thinned my blood out to much that one of my lungs collapse(but that wouldn't have made a difference to SCARY ARTIS). She didn't care. She acted so scared that she failed at being sensitive. FAILED AT BEING A DOCTOR & FAILED AT BEING COMPASSIONATE. My husband told the Office Mgr, if she is that scared of examining patients who need to breathe with their nose uncovered, she is in the wrong business. I agree 150%. Dr. Artis...please find another occupation ASAP! As we were leaving, a lady came to us and identified herself as the Office Manager(Aisha Warren). She said she apologized for any problems that we had and that sometimes the doctor and patient isn't a good fit for each other. I agreed. I explained my concerns to her and she was again apologetic and gave me her business card and said her job is to handle situations like this. I told her that I needed a doctors note for my job for today. She said she would email it to me and couldn't get it to me right now. I waited and waited and after a few days of not receiving a note, I sent her an email asking for the note. CRICKETS....Absolutely no response and no doctors note. read more

When she finally came in I asked her about the long wait. She did not apologize and said they forgot to tell me about an emergency that came in. She asked if I was going to be able to "get over it". I cannot imagine that the people who gave April Artis one star saw her. I will be eternally grateful to her for a number of reasons. First, when I first saw her she took the time to listen to my symptoms. In doing so she identified a culprit causing my stomach pain and gave me initial advice, in advance of a physical, on how to address the problem. When I came back for the physical she had a "mountain" of reading materials for me on the issue she identified and a way to treat it non-medically. Second, when I came in this year for my physical she listened to me describe some issues I was having. She then straight away referred me to an expert in the field for one of them, and to another for the other. Those two referrals have literally changed my life. I had put off addressing them and she made it possible to do so with confidence. Finally, if any of the negative reviews actually saw Dr. Artis and her team, they put more weight on bedside manner than actual substance. I want my doctor to be smart, insightful and thorough. Dr. Artis is all three. If I could give more than five stars I would. read more

I'd give zero stars if it was an option. I literally got up and walked out of my appointment and cried most of the way home. She was dismissive, rude and couldn't care less why I was there. She kept telling me I wasn't in her "wheelhouse". I understand I'm complex and I have a long medical history and I've recently moved across country and needed a new doctor. She has never even seen my medical history. She also informed me here in Georgia we have an opiate problem. I never asked her for pain meds not once. I asked her if she had something to help me sleep while I wait to get to the specialist since she couldn't help me. Insomnia sucks and contributes to poor health which is what I have. This woman shouldn't be a doctor and I pray the day she is scared and sick she is treated better then she treated me. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I have never in my 65 yrs been so put off by a doctor ,as, I was by Dr,Artis. I felt grilled and literally beat down from her over my medical history, and the medications I'm taking. I got up and walked out after 15 minutes of listening to her repeat her self. The staff is horrible! The front desk is ok but Dr. Artis's nurse is far from polite! Most of the staff is unfocused on customer service and more focused on being condescending!!! I feel rushed when I'm there...they brush your concerns off like they don't matter. Dr. Artis ignores previous medical records and does what she wants. She bullied me into getting a shot I didn't want. I needed forms completed for my flex spending....she refused to complete without me coming in and paying a copayment!! Going to the doctor should not be a headache. It should be a conversation about my health and I should feel comfortable sharing information with my doctor. I should feel like she listens and cares. It's time for me to stop being lazy and find a better doctor with a awesome professional staff. read more
