Best guides, closest to the best fishing, great support staff!…read more Having lived near the Kenai River for over 30 years and still avidly fish the river, I know these folks are top notch guides. One of the best things about HiLo is their location. They are located on Beaver Hole on the lower river. A lot of the other lodges on the river either are located much further upriver or meet you somewhere on the lower river. With Hi-Lo, you step off their dock and 10 yards aways is one of the very best fishing spots on the lower Kenai River. If you want to catch fish that are blushed or turning red, then fish upstream. If you want to have the first crack at the first fish coming out of the Ocean and into the river silver bright and in mint shape, then you have to fish with Hi-Lo if you don't want to wait at some launch in the dark hoping the guides show up or start an hour earlier in the morning at 5am so the guide has time to run downriver through a hundred boats in the dark. Eat breakfast, step on the boat, and literally one minute later you are fishing in a premium spot. I have my own boat and base out of a launch several docks from them and ALWAYS use their services to help book my friends trip not only for salmon but halibut charters and any other activities. I fish side by side with their boats often and I ALWAYS get out fished. Very knowledgeable folks. When ever we fish late or we catch too many fish (haha, yes it happens!) I can rely on Melissa and their crew to get my fish processed for my guests. Always comes out perfectly Having fished the Kenai river since 1971, there are only several outfits I can personally give my stamp of approval to and Hi-Lo is one of them!

The stay at the cabin was great, there was plenty of room for our family of four and we felt like we were away in a cabin deep in the woods. We were close to amenities if needed. Our trips were all within two hours which gave us the opportunity to see much of Alaska. We rafted, ocean fished, whale watched, rode atv's, rode in a helicopter, dog sledded and fished in the Kenai river. Our trip was spectacular and it is all due to Andrea and Jeremy. They were wonderful and gracious hosts!

Lots of parking. We stayed in a dog friendly room, on the end. They provided a dog dish and some dog treats! There are some trails behind the hotel that I was able to walk my dog down, he seemed to enjoy them. They offer a "continental" breakfast... it was some cereal and coffee/juice. But, I'm not complaining, I enjoyed the rare lucky charms indulging!

I like the location, decent interiors relatively clean with new decor. Beds were comfortable, the room was pretty clean. They left someone's old dirty face rag in the shower, gross. Seems like they are overly paranoid about wasting electricity as every plug for every appliance was unplugged. Just an observation. New tv new furniture, new carpet, an a+ on those thoughts. Either the bathroom counter has a stain on it or they forgot to clean the counter properly. Had a nice little fridge, a microwave as well, staff was helpful and accommodating, all and all a nice, safe, decently clean place to stay, give it a shot.

The smell was so bad that my teenage boys commented on it. It was tolerable after I Lysol bombed the place & left the doors & windows oprn for a few hours. The place was kind of clean if you don't consider the stained, thread bear & or patched linens, or the fact that only the high traffic areas were "cleaned". Even after asking our room was not serviced in 4 days. I at least know they had a vacuum cuz it didn't move from the hall way. As for the service, once you manage to find somebody to check in, you're on your own. The location is the only good thing about this place. I tried to find new lodging but nothing was available.

Also went on the glacier tour in Seward and enjoyed a great day on the water watching humpacks hunt and orcas cruising by. The Aialik glacier was impressive. This tour should not be missed during your stay in Alaska! Food at the lodge was delicious, everyday we were surprised with some new delicious meal from elk burgers to salmon and filet mignon. The chef, bakers and the whole crew did such a great job. Happy hour was great to mingle with other guest and talk to the guides about your next day adventure. You get what you pay for at this lodge. I got a hold of the owner, Courtney, who made the reservation process so easy and booked my family and another family coming down with us in the Chapel Cabin. Not knowing what to expect, we packed the car with toiletries, camping chairs, bed stuff. Turns out, we didn't need it because the cabin came stocked with it all. There is an amazing little "social circle" around a fire pit and propane grill (utensils all included.) There is pre-chopped firewood that I was almost demanded to use as much as we wanted which was nice in the cooler evenings. The cabin itself has a fully stocked kitchen (but no dishwasher), a queen bed and two twin beds upstairs and a pull-out sofa and futon downstairs. I'm not much of an outdoorsman or camper but I could come back time and time again to ACBTP. The one thing that really stuck out to me was the service from Courtney and Eric. While we didn't run into them during our stay, their phone numbers are all over the complex and if anything is needed or if we had any questions, they welcome a call or text and were very quick to respond. From the beginning, I felt like I had known these guys my entire life, that's how nice they were. We're already trying to plan our next trip. I was on a mission to see Molly the Moose but it didn't happen. Hopefully next time she'll grace us with her presence. Highly recommend this location, whether its for a quick getaway from Anchorage life or if you're coming down to fish as the Kenai River is a hop, skip and jump away.

Starting from the pickup from the hotel, water taxi with an Alaskan amphibian bush plane, fine dining within a historical lodge, bear watching, kayaking in Lake Clark at 10pm at night, watching whale migrating from a plane, a helicopter ride with landing on top of a glacier, Salmon fishing and bird watching, the trip stick and mesmerize both me and my parents. Whenever adventure story session come up in my big families, my parents always re-tell our little adventure in this lodge. We spent 3 days 2 nights at redoubt bay lodge. It is truly a trip to remember and a trip that will change you. All the staff member is meticulously prepared for our arrival, meals, trips, helicopter ride and flight back. It is not cheap, If you do have the means, GO FOR IT. You only do it once. You will not regrets!
