Most people say "If I could give this 0 stars I would", which I will say, they at least get one star based off of their phenomenal over-the-phone customer service. They have been the one shining light that has been positive. With that said, this company is an absolute nightmare to coordinate with to actually have your home serviced. I cancelled my service today based off of this string of events. A (sunny day) no call no show for an 8AM - 4PM appointment, rescheduled to the following week where the tech said he couldn't spray my exterior because of the rain. He said he would schedule a follow up exterior spray for 2 business days later. Nothing scheduled. When I called they had nothing on the books, so they scheduled me for the next day. That evening I was notified of a reschedule to 2 days later. When I called to ask why they told me they had no techs in the area. Well. We are to that day, and they just no call no showed again. The best part of all of this, is that I have cancelled the rest of my contract and no longer have to deal with this clown show of a company. What's crazy is their portal doesn't even have a Book Appointment button on the webpage. You can look at the calendar. It will note your last appointment. But there is no easy option to book your next. You have to reschedule a service based off of the last one. Not even close to intuitive and completely predatory. A rep came to my house, I told him that I had dealt with another rep last year who was rude, and that I disliked the company and would not use their service, but he kept on going. Finally he decided to go to my backyard, I met him there and told him that I was not going to hire them. He insisted, so I finally told him, listen to me, I am not hiring you. Their insecticide sprays had no effect on the ants. I then attempted to cancel the service within the 30 day window I was told I had so that I would not be charged a termination fee. Guess what? I only had a 3 day window to cancel and was charged a $199 cancellation fee. The irony? The 3 times I had them come out in the 30 day window to spray for ants, I was told to wait 7 days to see the intended impact. So, how do you give a customer a 3 day cancellation window if you have to wait 7 days to determine the effectiveness of the work? I wish I had looked at these bad reviews before I signed up for Aptive Pest Control. I called last month to cancel and was told there was $190 cancellation fee!!!! I was told to call back right before renewal which is on May 14th. It automatically renews. I was told I would have to pay $190 to cancel today May 13th, one day before May 14th. Whatever they spray, doesn't work, the bugs don't die they came into our house. We've never had this many stink bugs in our house. When you call to complain or cancel, they don't listen. If I could give zero stars I would! the sales person promised so many services and I saw absolutely no change in pests. He promised mosquito repellent and there was no change in that as well. He told me I would only be charged in the warmer months and that's not true, even though I haven't seen a rep since October. I'm being charged $100 a month all year. he told me I could cancel after the season if I didn't like it and I was just charged $200 to cancel after being charged $100 for JANUARY today (12/29). the rep told me I could have saved $100 if I had called 2 days earlier. It took me 20 minutes of arguing to cancel, the rep just kept trying to give me the "friends and family discount". I don't want to pay $100 or $65 for bad service. Here is an update. Aptive misrepresented a contract upgrade (what the technician told me was false). I complained to the company and was told, "too bad." Then a technician came to my home to "provide service" and was disrespectful. I asked the person to leave. I cancelled my service. I was then charged $199 for early cancellation. In an effort to get rid of this company, I called to pay my bill only to be told that I had to do it online. When I went online, I had to agree to an automatic monthly deduction--not doing that. A company that lies to its customers is not one I trust with my financial information. I called again (another 30 minutes wait) to pay over the phone, and they said they would call me back. We completed our contract, gave over a 30 day notice as per their contract. We were told we had to call them the day our contract ended We did. All in all we sent 4 emails, 2 calls and 1 text telling them we were not renewing our contract. They still tried to hit our credit card, sent us 2 emails saying our card was declined, because we blocked them, and called us and said we had to speak to customer service. Don't use them. Not only are your employees lying about having a permit, as each kid is required to have one. The permit explicitly states the law is not to peddle in a neighborhood with a posted sign. Your employee trespassed on my property, harassed me, blocked me from leaving, and refused to leave. Call the police in the future if these scam artists refuse to leave. Clearly the product and service is not good based on reviews and if it was, why would this be their business model? Harass till someone agrees... then charge a $200 cancellation fee. Unethical! SCAM ARTISTS. Absolutely TERRIBLE experience. So, a salesman came to my door saying they were in the area as my neighbors use them. Mind you, I live in a rural area but I know a lot of my immediate surrounding neighbors. He stated it would be $50 for today's one time service. I agreed to the one-time service. The man that came back later was super kind and knowledgeable. However, I have since been contacted by the company and they're telling me I'll be going to collections for $199. I was told after I expressed my frustration that the fee would be removed. Come second, third, forth time I was contacted: I asked for the contract, and it states they would come out a second time on 8/19 (they came in July). Here is the kicker: when I asked why they didn't come out for the second service, they said it was indicated on their end for a 1 TIME SERVICE. Then I point out they admitted I agreed for a one-time yet they're STILL saying I have to pay the $199! I'm still waiting on the payment link... DON'T EVER USE THIS COMPANY. Don't even call this company!! I was told I had voles in my yard after calling concerned about critters leaving holes in our mulch. You can only get service with a one year contract. And they say that this is a government contract and the cancellation fee is $200. Technician #1 came out placed a vole trap with poison bait inside. Proceeded to spray the inside of my house, which I didn't ask for, which left drip marks down all of my windows and walls. Technician #2 came out and said that we didn't have voles, just squirrels and that none of the voles bait inside the trap was eaten. I asked if he'd stand by that statement when I cancel this contract and he back pedaled. So, yes, i cancelled this contract and took the $200 hit but it was better than paying $59 per month for 1 year. I was silly to have signed that contract and would not recommend this company. Difficult to get through on their 800 line to set up an appointment without waiting for 15-30min. management reached out then never got back with me. now I'm stuck in a year long contract with no bug/pest reduction and horrible customer service. read more

We were told our first year was a trial period and we could cancel at any time if we disliked the service. We were also offered a discount. The rep told us that after the initial treatment, someone else would be out in 2 weeks to check and see how it worked. That never happened. No one contacted us and no one ever showed up. The service itself was also terrible. It did nothing. We still have all the same pest problems we did before. So we go to cancel, and that's when we discover the $199 fee for cancelling before our first year was up. That was never disclosed to us. The sales rep conveniently left that part out when he promised us this "trial period". Terrible, ineffective service that's way overpriced, customer service is awful, and they're also dishonest. It was the most painful 18 months of my life. I would NOT recommend this company EVER. Once they sign you up your are hooked for hundreds and hundreds of $$$ I tried to cancel many times.... Appointments were a nightmare. Service technicians missed appointment times at least 6-7 times in 18 months. i would have to call and reschedule , then they would not have another appointment for weeks.... and you are billed monthly. I called on the 18th month and told them i did not want to be auto re-new my service. I wanted to discontinue service (NOV 19th, 2025) . i was told i have 11 days left. I said i am discontinuing service, do not bill me. This appears to be a consistent complaint about this company. I should have read the reviews before agreeing to anything with them. The sales rep who knocked on my door this past Spring signed me up for this extended contract without my knowledge. Our verbal agreement was that they would work on only the ant infestation in my front year over the course of just three visits, total. We discussed in detail the fact that I was NOT signing up for an ongoing service plan. And then he discretly signed me up for it anyway. WARNING: APTIVE IS A SCAM. Do not fall victim to this! Their only goal is to get people to pay for their ongoing "subscription"-style service and they will intentionally botch a one-time treatment in order to convince you that you need them to come back continuously. They will say whatever they think will get you to give them money, regardless of whether or not it's true. We contacted them because we had wasps building a nest inside the walls of our home. We could hear them chewing through the walls, and the person I spoke to on the phone said that this was an urgent situation and that we had about a week or less before they broke through. He told me the treatment would take effect TWO DAYS after spraying. I had to tell him several times that we did not want to sign up for their ongoing service. The person who came out to spray repeated the claim that the treatment would take two days to work, and even advised us to plug up the hole after two days -- and NO SOONER -- because he said that doing it sooner would trap live wasps in the walls of our home, and they'd chew the rest of the way in. The entire time, everyone we spoke to was repeatedly trying to sell us the ongoing service. Two days after spraying, the wasp activity had not ceased, so we called Aptive to ask what we should do. This time, they told us that the treatment would take effect after FOURTEEN DAYS. We were shocked, especially since the person we'd first spoken to had been adamant that we had less than a week before they got through the wall; fourteen days would have been double that. Also, because the Aptive employee who sprayed had told us to plug the hole after two days so that we would not trap live wasps inside; it turns out that if we had taken his advice, we would have done exactly that. When we expressed this, she told us that they could only help us if we signed up for their ongoing service. We spoke to multiple people at the company after this and they all continued trying to sell us the service, then passing us off onto someone else who did the same. The wasp activity STILL did not cease after fourteen days, then a month, then two months. We had already paid $300 for the one-time treatment and did not have the money to pay another company, so even when the wasps did finally break through, there was nothing we could do except try to block off those areas of our home so that they didn't put our pets in danger (since now, not only were we dealing with wasps in our house; we were dealing with POISONED wasps. And when I had asked the first salesperson on the phone if their product was pet-safe, he awkwardly circumvented the question and said something to the effect of "we recommend keeping pets out of the area"). We found them for weeks on end, several wasps at a time, flying around or dying on the floor, and the only thing that eventually stopped them from coming in was the continuous cold of winter. Even now, knowing that the wasp nest might still be alive and overwintering, we are not free of this problem. We are both teachers barely making ends meet as it is. $300 is a lot of money for us. We tried to cancel the contract, we tried reaching out to them several times over phone and email, we BEGGED them to make things right and actually provide the service we paid them to provide. Their answer was, repeatedly, that they'd help us only if we agreed to sign up for a service we'd already said we didn't want or need. Go literally ANYWHERE else. This is a scam practically. They talk the good talk, but do not stand up to promises. Just like Deborah M. noted, once we realize the $100-200 charge for each spraying is ridiculous given the lack of actual work, you will try to cancel only to find out they will charge you for canceling "early". Some fine print in the contract likely notes that, but it was clearly not explained during the sales schpheal. The first guy did an OK job, but the subsequent was in and out so fast I wonder what they sprayed. They certainly didn't clean the spider webs they claimed they would. I am still waiting for that. They got about ~60% of the webbing that the sales guy claimed they would totally clean. Furthermore, the sales guy claims the insecticide is "green" and when the applicator guy came, he was wearing gearing to protect himself and said I should not be in the area nor contact it for a week. Once you sign up, it is almost impossible to cancel. We have had this service for 6 yrs. The techs are friendly but there is high turnover and their experience is generally very basic. Anything extra requires a specialist and a long wait for followup. They do not use ladders and cannot handle anything that is at the top of a ceiling or balcony. read more

The company is a scam. The salesman at my door told me I would only have to pay for about 6 months of service because service is paused during the winter months. I am being billed every month and the customer service rep is no help. I can't cancel because it's a 1 year contract. Now I'm being told I have to pay for the last 2 months I didn't receive service, but don't have to pay for the next few months since service won't start again until June. It doesn't make sense. The salesman lied straight to my face. I signed the contract under the belief it was everything we discussed. The contract was written very different than the verbal agreement. After hearing from others about their poor customer service and trouble with this company, I too am having issues stopping service, despite 5 calls, emails, texts. Today- Jason from the company told me I had 72 hours- 3 days to rescind the decision to TRY this company. After we had the service performed, I decided it was not for us for several reasons. Most of all, my dogs. The price then increased dramatically - another reason. Today I return to find they've done "service" again - without my consent because IVE CANCELLED THIS SERVICE 5 TIMES. I cancelled a contract because they admitted they did not perform the service properly and was assured in many emails that I had no balance owing. yet I kept getting bills then more emails showing a zero balance and more assurances my account was closed, then threats from automated letters saying my account for $199 was going to collections if I did not pay, then more emails confirming this was an error and my account was closed with a zero balance and now its gone to a collection agency, my credit record will show this fraudulent collection for a decade now and wreck my credit score which was excellent. I have sent ARM and APTIVE lots of copies of these emails and still I'm getting collection letters. I asked for all my data to be removed as is my right from all their systems and unsubscribed from emails texts and appointment notifications and still they lie.
