Our last pool cleaner stopped setvicing our pool, and all of his other customer's pools, while we were off island. We heard his excuses and waited for him to return until our pool started looking like a swamp. His other customers jumped ship before we tried to find a replacement. Other pool companies were already booked up but Aquapulco said they would clean up the pool and start weekly visits. Aquapulco estimated that the initial cleaning would cost $550. Wow, but okay. I'm in a bind. They did a good job but the final total was $750. Ouch! Weekly maintenance was pricey, $85 per week plus chemicals. But, the pool cleaner showed up every week. The pool cleaner sent an email each week with a picture of the clean pool. For the first 4 weeks, he included a picture of the timer for the pool pump. There was no explanation why he thought I would be interested in the timer. Finally, the electric bill arrived and it solved the mystery. The cleanup crew had the pump running 24/7 for the couple of days while they worked but left it running continuously after they finished. That mistake cost me an extra $200, going to the electric company. When I called Aquapulco about it, they sent a repair technician to correct the timer. Nothing for the inconvenience or expense. Aquapulco sent me 2 reports that my auto pool sweep wasn't working properly. It was stuck at the stairs and wouldn't "back up". They wanted to replace the gearbox ($53.50, 10% over retail) plus an $85 service call for a 15 minute repair. I declined, since I was returning in a few days. I was warned that I would be charged an extra $25 per week, since my pool sweep wasn't picking up everything on the bottom of the pool. I arrived and I put a $48.95 gearbox in the pool sweep, but it didn't make any difference. I then found that my pool-to-pump valve was set to take most of the water from the skimmer, providing insufficient suction for the pool sweep to function properly. FYI, there is a flow meter available to show the amount of suction recommended for the pool sweep. I also found the skimmer flapper door was stuck closed, preventing floating debris from entering the skimmer. I fixed this problem and probably saved another $85 service call. On his last visit, I told our pool cleaner that I had just emptied the pump basket when I cleaned out the impeller. He said he would do it anyway, because he was required to do it. After he left, I noticed that water in the pool wasn't flowing well and saw that pump pressure was well over 20 psi. The filter hadn't been backflushed. After I did the backflush, we found another company to take over the maintenance of our pool. Honey Girl wanted to know why we were changing pool companies. I told her that if Mike Davis (the owner) wanted to know the problems we've had with Aquapulco, he was welcome to call me. He didn't return my call. I gave Aquapulco 3 stars because they do a pretty good job. But, evidently they don't consider themselves responsible if their mistakes cost you money. And then when a pump blew on me over the weekend, they came out the moment they could to replace the motor for me. How incredibly lucky I was to have this team on speed dial. They not only help but weekly service to keep your pools sparkly and fresh and perfect. So if you have a small pool with only a few swimmers or a larger property with multiple pools and dozens of swimmers, these are just the people you want to help look after your pools. They struggle with consistency when it comes to appointments and have very nice but not very knowledgable service technicians. After having people show up to service our pool with no notice several times, we switched to a new company who let us know our pump was in fact broken (we had Aquapulco check it out and they said it was working properly despite seeming issues) and set a standing weekly appointment time. Can't recommend working with Aquapulco as their price is identical to competitors who provide superior service and show up only after appointments are scheduled and confirmed. 1 star belongs to the very friendly service technicians who are doing their best despite the seemingly terrible management. read more

They may know something about pool maintenance, but I don't think they have much experience with spas. A 365-gal spa requires fewer chemicals than a 5,000-gal pool. It's a bad sign when your spa service guy uses a test strip to check the spa water chemistry instead of a test kit, tells you "One...and three" when you ask what the bromine level is, and has to call his boss to be told what chemicals to add almost every time he's at your house. Not to mention that the owner told me he would be here the next day to drain, clean and refill my spa at no charge. He didn't show up, and didn't call or text me, either. I received good and prompt service from my pool tech. Unfortunately, I had to call and complain, and also write and complain, more than five times, because the company continued to schedule pool cleanings off their normal cycle, without telling me, or consulting with me. Once again today, the day I fired them (after only three months of total service), they scheduled a tech to show up without consulting me, walking in on several unmasked guests in my backyard. This firm shows absolutely no regard for the schedules, requests, or privacy of their clients. If you don't mind being completely surprised when your pool tech arrives, they do good work. If you want to know when someone is entering your property or have them stay within authorized hours, they will disappoint you - chronically. read more

I used this service for years without any problems so I remained a loyal client even though these past couple of years, the service has gone downhill. They appear to have a problem keeping help as they lose their pool service people often. I was tired of breaking in new people and wanted only experienced people after it seemed like things were not going well. I was concerned that the bills have climbed, with increases in pricing. A service call is now $85 for an hr of labor even if they are there for only a few minutes. I seemed like every other month something was "going wrong" with my equipment so my bills have climbed. They used my own tub of chlorine tabs and did not credit me. The kicker was within the past months I have repeatedly called to talk to the owner who does the repairs and was told by their receptionist that he cannot possibly answer all of the calls. Well, he didn't answer, didn't answer and no one else could tell me what he did or did not do to "fix" the equipment. I was charged nearly $500 for a "fix" when it could have purchased an new pool pump. Done! Fired them this month even though I prefer to keep people who know me and my property. read more

Used their service for over a year. Mike was great at first but then never saw him. Pool folks occasionally missed cleaning basket, brushing pool, etc. Ok I'm pretty easy going, let see how it goes. They were at my home most days for 5 minutes, which would be ok if the job got done. You'd think for $45 /week ,$180 / month (plus chemicals) my pool would be crystal clear. You'd think Mike would call to discuss service after we left them. Never attempted to keep us as customers. Security cameras are great for all kinds of things.
