Fantastic set up and customer service from Jacob. Took time to walk me through the freshwater section and was very knowledgeable throughout the tour. Jacob and I spoke about a wide array of topics and he had information about every subject. Bravo! I can tell the business cares about the hobby and the fish. Amazing betta set up. Ordered on line and waited several days, nothing. Emailed and got return email with the wrong customer name. Finally said it was shipped overnight, waited and nothing. Called and spoke to Patrick the owner who was rude and only wanted to talk over me. Final resolution was a refund, at least that was handled quickly. Patrick also told me they only communicate with Facebook Messenger.... to bad I don't use Facebook. There are plenty of good places to order from online, this just happens to not be one. read more

I called up here while quarantined for COVID and asked them if they would be able to put together a special order of dry flake and frozen fish foods for my African and South American Cichlids. I didn't realize that the number was Pat's personal cell number and that he was at home instead of at the store that day. I explained that situation and that my neighbor, who knows nothing about fish and fish food, was going to be picking up the order and dropping it on my porch for me. Pat asked me if he could have his staff verify the inventory and then call me back. About a half hour later my phone rang and Pat told me that everything was waiting for my neighbor to pick up! These guys are the best! Seriously, I could not have asked for better help and service. It's amazing what we take for granted until you are in a position that you can't even go get something as simple as fish food. One of the best coral selections in town, really enjoy going there. The people running the store are very helpful. Huge selection of coral frags and a ton of really cool new style tanks in stock which are all surprisingly cheap. They have nice lights and skimmers too in stock. Prices are great on livestock and sell the same as the Internet on hardware (except aquariums way cheap). Great place overall and new location is much better! read more

After having a HORRIBLE run in with Paradise Aquatics I found Aquariums Wholesale, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!! I have had nothing but great dealings with Pat and Chad, I have purchased many fish and corals and several pieces of equipment and never had any issues with service or warranty concerns. I had three of my blower controllers fail over a several months and when I asked about replacements it was just a cake walk, the parts was ordered and within two weeks I had my blowers back to normal, not bad for a special order parts. This is what customer service is about, taking care of the customer and not only worrying about making a buck or two up front. My husband and I had to break down and sell our reef tanks before we moved out here from California. We recently decided to get back into reef-keeping, and have been nothing but impressed with this store. We have bought most of the livestock (fish and corals) as well as our tank, sump, and lighting from Aquariums Wholesale. Our tank is absolutely thriving. All the guys who work at/run the shop are helpful, and always try to make sure we return happy. They have very competitive pricing on most of their coral, and their selection is spectacular! We may be guilty of dropping by at least once a week just to have a look at their new shipments. They also have a reptile area with lizards, snakes, and some amphibians if that is more up your alley. After exploring the stores in the KC metro area, this is one of the few we keep coming back to. read more

Amazing, HEALTHY coral and live stock. I love all the different varieties of coral and fish. All of the reptiles appear to be very healthy and well maintained. They have fresh food and water each time I go here. My husband and I have purchased numerous amounts of coral and fish from here. The coral nor the fish have ever introduced anything unhealthy to our tanks. The owner is often there and very knowledgable and friendly. I enjoy the atmosphere almost as much as the products!!! Only place we will buy fish or coral from due to getting healthy, amazingly, beautiful stuff....each and ever time. The prices are extremely reasonable which is surprising considering that we, in all these years, have never had anything bad introduced to our tanks.. Now that... Is priceless! read more

Very efficent.. there was a volunteer working on the frag tank looking for bubble algae.. Thats dedication. Pat is very knowledgeable and is a pleasure. Will buy all my fish supplies from them. I have been in the saltwater hobby for about 10 years now. One thing I like about my experience with this store is the service. I have actually had the store manager give me discounts for being a return customer. I have had the employees tell me not purchase something they felt was not as healthy as it should be. I test these waters (pun intended) to see if they are just selling or if they not only care but also know what they are talking about. And I found they care and know, and if they don't know, they tell me and also listen when I know something they do not. I bought a blue clam that was just a bit bigger than a quarter, now it is bigger than my fist. I have purchased a few fish but mainly coral from this store with success. read more

Located in the great mall, originally this was always the last place I planned on coming to due to it's distance from me in overland park. I have two closer stores to me, but after visiting this store numerous times in the past month I've been very pleased. I feel I know a fair amount of saltwater fish/coral information that i've picked up over the years but I always like to play "dumb" when coming into a store I've never been to. I try to see if the store is going to just sell me the most expensive thing, or if they actually care about what they are selling, and in turn care about me (the customer). The first purchase I made here was Rose tip Anemone, and while I felt I had picked out the healthiest one there, the person that was working with me mentioned that he had a few more that were waiting to be acclimated and that I had better look at those before I made my decision. I was shown the inventory and ended up picking out one of the new ones from a non display tank in the back/side of the store. I also had my eye on a hammer torch, and the sales person cut me a deal on that piece since I was also purchasing the Anemone. I believe the person helping me was the owner (pat), but the best part was he confirmed that my tank had the ability to sustain my new purchases (before I purchased them). I've read some reviews on this store before and they were not very friendly, so I assumed the worst. However for me it's been the opposite, the only reason I don't give them 5 stars is some days they do not have a huge variety (most likely because they have sold that variety) but other days they have things that I haven't ever seen in the area. Some what hit or miss. In my opinion this is the best aquatics store in Johnson County. They also have a great selection of small mammals and reptiles for those interested in that hobby. Who cares if it's in the great mall, grab yourself a pretzel from the food court and enjoy the store. read more
