They started us off with bread and olive oil/balsamic vinegar - my fave was the breadstick. We ordered 2 appetizers: the antipasti of local specialties and the melted cheese. The antipasti of local specialties included cassava, avocado, surubí croquette, reviro, chipa guazu, and sopa paraguaya. This dish was so unique!! My fave was one of the corn pies (it was cheesy) and the croquette. This dish is quite heavy on the starch, so it is very filling. The melted cheese was spectacular. It was piping hot and savory, and I loved the hint of tomato taste. For my entree, I got the tropical surubí. The fish was mostly flaky and tender, and had some nice crispy parts. A few bites were too salty, but it was overall very enjoyable. My bf got the gnocchi with the shrimp sauce. It was solid. For dessert, I got the chocolate specialty dessert, which consisted of white chocolate mousse over a brownie. I didn't particularly enjoy it. The mousse didn't have the texture of mousse - it was too gelatin-like. The brownie also wasn't very fudgy or chocolatey. My bf got the passion fruit mousse, and he loved it. To end the evening, they gave us some limoncello. Overall, I really enjoyed the meal because of the uniqueness of the local dishes. Service was great. After a hot, crowded day at Iguazu, we were headed to a place on that street, but the line was insane. While we were looking up another place, a local lady addressed us in English and recommended this place. We had the local starter plate, pacu, the tenderloin, and got the local draft beer. All the waiters spoke English, explained each dish to us, and were super attentive. The tenderloin was thick, huge, and cooked to perfection. The vegetable stuffing on the pacu went really well with the fish, and I enjoyed it a lot. A really great experience, and compared to the prices back home.. not bad at all. It was our first few hours in Iguazu, and some had went on the bus, and others had flown. But we all were so hungry! Aqva was the perfect place, the ambiance, the cleanliness and the staff were stellar. The food was also amazing. We split the shrimp tempura appetizer, and I got a pork shoulder dish. My friends got mushroom risotto, shrimp linguini, and the tropical salad. We all loved everything. And we ended up getting the dessert sampler as recommended by our waitress. I visited Aqva randomly and blindly. I had arrived to Iguazu that morning but our tour guide was late to pick us up and I called the travel agent about it. Because we waited over 30 minutes for our driver after our plane landed, he made a reservation for this restaurant and paid for everything. I'm happy he chose this restaurant because I got to try the river fish that so many people recommended to us. The service was actually quick and attentive as well as friendly and helpful. Aqva was recommended to us by many, so we had to try them. We were able to have a late lunch, and it was terrific. Aqva has a huge menu, but we were looking for a lighter lunch and therefore chose salad and soup. My husband chose a mixed salad, and it was fresh and large. I chose the vegetable soup of the day and a caprese salad. The veggie soup and caprese salad were both some of the best I've tasted. The soup broth was puréed vegetables with whole vegetables mixed in. The caprese salad was very interesting in that the basil component was swipes of basil pesto, the tomatoes were a mix of fresh and sun dried, and the mozzarella was slices of typical mozzarella with a large portion of burratta in the middle. All of this was topped with a nice sprinkling of chopped black olives. Everything was delicious and the only reason to not say five stars was that the service was a bit slow. read more

We strolled in without a reservation, luckily there was a table for 2 available and we were able to enjoy a delicious dinner. Portions are huge. The mixed salad and mixed entree can be shared. The prime rib was juicy and perfectly cooked with a pepper sauce and the home made fettuccini pasta with pesto was a favorite. The food here was quite good although definitely overpriced for the region. I didn't order a steak, but someone at my table did and they said it was quite good (not outstanding but tasty). I ordered the pasta and it was pretty tasty and filling. The soup was inedible, as it was super bland and watery. The service was wonderful though, and the ambiance was quite good. Sadly, I was not as impressed with Aqva as most other Yelpers. We were starving, and excited for some Argentian cuisine on our first day in Iguazu! I ordered the Aqva steak and my dining partner ordered the El Dorado. He loved the fish, but I was unimpressed with the steak. I thought it was tough and overseasoned with oregano (could have been something else)? Prices were on the higher end, which is fine for a fancier meal, I just wish I would have been as impressed with the food as I wanted to be. This is the first restaurant we visited while in Puerto Iguazu. The restaurants in this small town are not fancy by any means, so my rating of this restaurant is in comparison to other establishments I visited in this area. We came here for dinner with plans to try mostly seafood dishes. They have several good river fish options, out of which we tried the surubi and pacu. We started off with an appetizer, a sampler of some sort, which was good but I can't remember any details of the dish. We had both the surubi and pacu grilled served with some veggies and while both were good my favorite was the pacu. We also had the surubi with wine sauce, shrimp and spinach flan which was absolutely delicious. For dessert we tried two but I can only remember the one which I enjoyed the most and that was the pineapple dessert, it was outstanding. We also got complimentary limoncello to end our fabulous meal. The service was good and attentive, always quick to tend to our requests. I recommend making a reservation in advanced especially if you come with a large party. Although they do take credit cards and meals here are very inexpensive, I'd recommend you bring cash in dollars or euros if you want to get an even better exchange rate. Having said that, we only paid ~81US$ for our meal (which consisted of an appetizer, 3 entrees, 2 desserts, 2 waters, a bottle of wine, a glass of dessert wine and 3 coffees) so either way you can't go wrong with any form of payment. read more

Wow, the steak was so amazing!!! This was the second best meal I had while visiting Argentina. The #1 best meal was Don Julio's in Buenos Aires. After a long day in the sun visiting the falls, you can't beat the atmosphere, great wine selection, wonderfully nice staff and amazing food. Order the Ribeye! It was THE best piece of meat I've had during our trip to the Iguazú, Buenos Aires and Rio. Some might not agree with me about Buenos Aires, but trust me I couldn't believe it either and I was quite disappointed. Anyway, I will review the restaurants we visited there separately. The ribeye here was so-absolutely-good that it set such a high standard for us for the remainder of our trip. The t-bone wasn't all that, but it was still good. The food quantity is moderate. This is my favorite restaurant in Puerto Iguazu. I've been coming here for years when visiting my parents, and I am always pleased with the food and the service. Unlike many restaurants on the Brazilian side of the border, the waiters here can communicate in English and Portuguese aside from their native Spanish. The service is impeccable, even with a full house. My favorite thing to eat there is the "bife de chorizo", a tall steak, with mashed potatoes and four cheese sauce. Yum! It was 5:30 pm when we walked in and the restaurant was serving food which is an odd time for dinner, so I truly appreciated that they still gave us hungry tourists food. The restaurant is a bit on the pricey side, but given the time span in which we walked in, and the fact that everybody in this town speaks great English, "thank you" to all tourists for keeping this town alive and open and in business! This restaurant came highly recommended for its fish dishes from the river, but looking at area, it seems very much a common ingredient for most places around here. The fresh river fish. We had it with the fruit sauce and safe on rice and it was lovely but a little too dry. The beef chorizo was perfect. I asked for a we done and they served it perfectly without burning it to a crisp as they tend to do in most places. I think I am excited to try other dishes and restaurants here in Puerto iguazu . One of our favorite restaurants that we ate at during a three week trip to Argentina. Definitely get a reservation ahead of time as this place is very popular. We were there on a friday night and ended up waiting about 35 minutes for a table for 2. I got the "Lomo a la Mostaza de Dijon con Papas Doree y Esparragos," which came with a tangy mustard sauce and was cooked perfectly. My wife got the"Bife de Chorizo AQVA," which came with an onion risotto and was also perfectly cooked. Desserts were fantastic, we had the White Chocolate Brownie and one of the most interesting desserts I've ever had: a Yerba Mate Creme Brulee. It came with Caramelized Yucca, Toasted Almonds & Yerba and Cointreau Foam. Really fantastic. Service was great. Nothing short of a five star dinner outing. read more

The fish wasn't evenly cooked - the thicker part of the fillet was pretty good, the ends were way over cooked. The potato risotto turned out to be a potato hash and needed salt, actually the entire meal needed salt. We had a terrible experience at this restaurant. The food was basically inedible. The waiter was unimaginably rude and attempted to overcharge us. He slammed down our bill and glared at us for asking the check to be corrected. He grumbled that he could be fired because we sent back poorly cooked and uneaten food. The owner came out to speak to us and seek criticism but seemed angry at us for not enjoying the food. We were asked to justify why we didn't like the food no less than three times overall. (The salmon was impossibly dry and over cooked, the chicken was boiled and flavorless and the river fish was swimming in a strange sauce). Great service and great food! After living in Buenos Aires for 9 weeks, I've learned the only real service you in most places is no service. We got seated fairly quickly without reservations. The staff took our orders fairly quickly. Food came out in a reasonable time and our whole experience with staff, atmosphere and food was great. The lomo and dorado were perfectly cooked and a perfect end to our long day of walking through the national park. The cost is very reasonable and if you're traveling with other currency, the exchange rate is decent compared to what other places try to pull. read more

Great local wines. We tried 2 Mendoza Malbec's, which were great. Being a veggie, my salad and veggie(spinach) Gnochi was good. 3 teenagers had Fettuccine with different sauces, gave a 3.5 on it. We came here on our second night in Iguazu as a recommendation from our guide for seafood and it was everything we have been hoping for in Argentinian cuisine! First of all, amazing service with (some) multi-lingual servers, second the bread basket was varied and all amazing (see pictures), the olive bread was my favorite while the man loved the wheat but truth be told we ate it all before our main courses came out. On a recommendation from our server we got the pacu stuffed fish dish and the steak chorizo with mushroom risotto and the seasonal salad. OMG. Both were amazing, (I paired dinner with a Malbec glass). Words cannot describe. We left so happy and satisfied! And the cost was only 41 US dollars! During our visit to Puerto Iguazu, we very much enjoyed our dinner at this informal, but excellent and friendly dining spot. The waiters speak strong English and are available at a glance. Opening -act dinner rolls were accompanied by a delicious basil cream in lieu of butter. Yum! My appetizer, a hearty vegetable soup, was both tasty and filling. Our family also enjoyed the antipasti of local specialties (including hearts of palm and fried manioc). Fish is the most obvious choice given the restaurant's name, and each of our choices (surubi with shrimp, potato risotto and white wine; pacu relleno with asparagus and onion jam; salmon teriyaki flan texture) were tasty and well prepared.
