Anyway, I've never sat at a pottery wheel before but thanks to the incredible instruction facilitated by the small class size and the relaxed atmosphere I had a blast. And, bonus, my creations turned out pretty great, too! We'll see how they turn out after the firing and glazes. I had so much fun and was so encouraged by the experience I'm considering a membership to explore the hobby further. At the least I'll be taking more classes. Highly recommend the classes and studio to anyone and everyone. I'm the beginningest beginner possible and I couldn't have had a better time.

It's a unique art school combined with artists' workshops on three levels. They offer an array of classes for artists and for novice looking for a fun hobby. The classes posted that I saw were for drawing,painting, and live model drawing. Some studio rooms were quite small, while other room were larger for classes/workshops. I came for the grand opening celebration. The founder's young son was greeting people at the door and giving a well rehearsed explanation of all they had to offer. I was impressed. It was quite fun going in all the rooms and meeting some of the artists. I hope to visit again soon... maybe partake in a class one day.

I had my bestie join me on my birthday and had such a great experience, wonderful instructors, quality materials, friendly staff and a beautiful store to craft in. Loved my finished product. I recently saw that they were offering a 1 hour online workshop with a guest speaker/ coach. The topic was about rest not being a luxury. With everything going on today, it was timely and on point. The coach dropped some gems during the first half, we were then able to ask questions via chat. After that, we started painting our signs with live follow the leader step by step instructions. The sign came in a nicely prepared box wrapped in lovely paper and was pre-stained. Also included were pots of paints of your chosen colors, a stencil transfer, paint brush, wooden flowers, small sponges for dabbing the paint on, and two recipes (face mask and a cocktail). The class was well moderated. The owner was streaming live from her home workshop with a really cool backdrop. This was well put together!!! My end product was amazing! As someone who has been throwing pots for a few years, I'm definitely eyeing the the Studio Artists which is designed for independent ceramicists. The studio space itself is pretty large and Kendra keeps a large supply of clay, tools, and other items you'll need for throwing pots or hand building. Even more importantly, pots get fired pretty quickly so you're not waiting weeks to finally get to your batch of pots that need to be glazed, etc. Kendra also works with you on honing in on any techniques if you've got the basics down, or helping you master the foundational skills. Given the pottery studios in the DMV are always full and have waitlists, it was very exciting to see this new studio open up and actually get a spot without wondering if I'll ever get a chance to take a class!

Natasha Fray, the owner and artist was effortless in navigating between various levels of skill. Her introduction and directions throughout the experience were clear. I felt at ease because when people had "oops" moments, she never panicked with us. As a matter of fact, she really didn't see mistakes because its art. She had a way of listening to the buy-in of the painter to help the painting reflect their vision. She could fix anything. I loved and stuck with the colors of our painting. However there were others who desired to use colors that matched their home decor. Natasha helped them mix the right colors to get the background they wanted. I was very pleased with my painting.
