ACU used to be a great place to work and bank, not anymore. I was under the premise that ACU was here to serve, advocate and advise members on the best choices for them. I was sadly mistaken. I realized this when hearing "we only help good members worth helping" from my manager, when trying to go the extra mile for a member that "was not worth it". It seems that they advocate, serve, and advise what is best for themselves. ACU has adopted more of a bank philosophy rather than a credit union, including raising their fee schedule. When they raised their interest rates to "stay competitive" that they were actually above the industry standard in most areas. Since the managerial hierarchy is a solidified, tight knit click, there will be no changing of any sort, unless it increases operating profit for the credit union. All changes, including changing to Mastercard were done for financial reasons. Nothing that I can recall at all was ever done to benefit or make members lives easier. The credit union has actually gone so far south that they began to pay people for good reviews. These are the only positive reviews you will find. It is very sad that a such a place has fallen so low on the totem pole. The old CEO was a miracle worker when she brought the shambles of what ACU used to be to the place it is now. Since the change of position, it seems that management does not care about members, employees, or service, just the bottom line. Unfortunately the credit union has significantly lost popularity, and seems to be returning to its old ways as a failing credit union. read more

One of the worst banks and customer/ member service issues I've ever had to deal with. Between working construction and the pandemic my works been real hit and miss this year, I've kept in touch with the bank through out the process and everything seemed ok. Then I get a call from Mike Thomas he's their collection manager and a real snobby demanding prick to try and deal with. Last time it was so bad I called the branch manager and was informed by her that he has been told to act that way so they don't lose their money but she would look into what happened...so you treat people like crap on purpose even when they've been honest and upfront with you?!? As soon as my loans paid off I'll never use them again for anything else. They Seem nice but then the true colors show Through. read more

ACU has been fantastic to me. When I had problems with credit, they helped me get back on my feet. I had just been through a divorce and was living on my own for the first time in forever and they took the time to set me up with a whole account. All I had with them was a co-signed loan with my husband. Absolute morons working here. Added $10,000 to my car loan without even notifying me because they say I didn't list them as a lien holder. Can't make my car payment online in one payment because they only allow you to pay $500 and my payment is higher than $500. Today I am trying to make a payment and now all of a sudden my account doesn't exist online anymore. I can't wait to refinance with a different bank or credit union!!!!! read more

I love the high interest rates. The service getting things set up was helpful with a representative calling me and doing it over the phone (unlike some places, where you have to try to do it all online or go somewhere in person). It did take longer than I expected to get my account officially open, and to get linked to accounts at other institutions, but all in all, not too hard to get everything set up. Enough good stuff about this credit union that even though I settled on another one a couple years ago after some research, this one stayed on my mind and as soon as I had a reason, I had to get an account here. read more

I've loved Arpahoe Credit Union for as long as I can remember, one of the best decisions I've made has been switching from a big bank to this local credit union. It may not have some of the fancy technology and features of other instituitions, but they have great people that are always looking out for me. This credit union sucks! My mom took a check there From her friend and they wanted to charge $20! I asked for the corporate address & number to complain and the said I had to complain to them & they would decide if corporate should hear about it. I would not advise anyone to use this credit union. It's a total RIP off. Not to mention they locked the door as if we were going to rob them. What robber flashes their id with check in hand? I paid ACU to close out ALL of my withstanding accounts with them. Over a year later I come to find out that they never closed the over-draft protection account that was tied to my checking account and have been charging me $25/mo.. I would never recommend taking your money there, they don't even know how to properly close out accounts and treat you terribly whenever an issue arises. read more

We have been members of Arapahoe Credit Union for over 20 years. They have a better interest rate than regular banks. We have also financed cars through them in the past and gotten a much lower interest rate than through the car dealership. One thing I don't like is that we pay a monthly fee of $1.96 to protect all our accounts from fraud and ID theft. We had no choice but to pay this fee. read more

Not really sure why this Credit Union doesn't have 5 stars because all I've received is 5 star customer service! Everyone is always so happy at ACU and always very friendly! All the tellers are great greeters and definitely make me feel welcome when I step in the doors! They all pretty much know me by name and are ready to help in any way that I need! Applied for a loan. Was told it would take 2 business days which is suspect but I supposed that due to the holidays there may be staffing issues. # business days later no one contacted me so I asked for an update. Was told I would get an answer by the end of the day. Of course this didn't happen. Had to call and ask once more and found I was "conditionally" approved. They needed one other piece of documentation that I was never asked to provide in 2 trips to the branch. To top it off they never even told me I needed this additional documentation. I had to call and sit on hold and ask the status myself. No other loan experience I have ever had was this slow and unorganized. read more

Worst credit union experience ever. They put a lengthy hold on a cash deposit, flagged it as a check and then blamed another cu for the hold when I went into the Hampden St. branch and asked to speak to the manager. My cash was safer in my own pocket. read more

They say they will help you out if you lose your job, but then they have no problem texting you at 8am on a Saturday morning asking you for a payment and a credit card. Shit happens sometimes and after joining in 2009 and being golden until now, I expected them to live up to their word and treat a member a little better. 3 months without a job and now I have a great one, I'm excited to transfer my loan and close all my accounts. read more

Went to refinance my loan here, had a few questions after being approved. Left several messages for the branch manager at the Arapahoe road location. She never returned my calls. Finally, I decided to just close my account (they make you open a savings account) and keep my loan where it is because the female branch manager never returned my phone calls after several attempts. The friendly and courteous staff is always able to answer questions and resolve any issues that may arise. First off, I tried to phone the C.U.., which closes at 6:00 pm on friday... but they had their phones turned off at 5:27 pm. I haven't had an ATM card for 5 weeks now, because the chip on one card was defective. The second card was sent to a bad address because the person I gave my written change of address to didn't take the time to do the change correctly. I heard the manager admit to it not being done right. Neither situation any fault of my own. Recently, I had to take my sick puppy to an emergency place in the middle of the night, and they wouldn't care for him because I had no way to get cash to pay for it. And, the C.U. was closed. I told this to the manager and asked him if they could overnight a card at their cost because none of this was my fault., He said "No, that he could re-order and mail one." A response that is unacceptable as far as I am concerned. I don't know about you folks, but I don't like being treated like my family and I don't matter, because we don't have a huge bank account. My son refinanced a vehicle through this company in early March. Although they rate we received was fairly decent, their customer service, and management need some serious improvement. We were working at the Centennial location, and we had to pull teeth to get someone to respond to us. We tried calling upper management to see if they could speed up the process some, yet she was never available, and a call back from her was just asking for too much. I became familiar with this company doing shared branching at this location. In the beginning it seemed as if would be a great place to join, but with my statements listed above, it surely became a headache. The staff is never the same, nor do they know what they are doing. We are taking a rate increase elsewhere, in order to leave this horrible institution. If we wanted to be treated like a number, we would have just stood at a much larger institution. The Centennial location has some of the rudest managers and teller staff that I have ever experienced and I am not currently an account holder. First the tellers did not even acknowledge my presence when I walked into the lobby, so I just kind of stood there waiting for someone to help me. I went in to ask questions regarding an auto loan, and the representative was not friendly nor was she welcoming and lacked the knowledge to answer my questions with purchasing and out of state vehicle. I had a friend who received a fairly low interest rate on her vehicle, yet she explained she had to speak with the director of operations at one point, and stated that she was treated like complete garbage and basically her time was not valued. I had hoped maybe I would have different experience and was hoping for a lower interest rate, so I took my chances. Unfortunately, this was another poor experience to note in the book. If you're looking for a credit union that actually is courteous and knowledgable, do not come here!!! read more
