On Friday, October 6, I took a ring into this shop to have it repaired with two tiny diamonds set into the band. The ring was a gift from the staff of P.S. 151Q, when I retired over twenty years ago. Jay, the owner was kind and very professional and totally fastidious about cleanliness. He examined my ring and explained that what I thought was a missing stone was actually a "junction" space, but that there was a stone at one end of the design that was cracked and needed replacement and the one that I originally came in about. He took pictures, measured, took my information and told me he would need two weeks. I paid the very fair price, and was surprised to get a text on Wednesday that my ring was ready. The ring that my grandson picked up for me yesterday was absolutely gorgeous, shined and polished and sparkling with its two new diamonds. Brought a watch in to see if it can be repaired. It's a mechanical piece with a date pointer which was misaligned. I would have accepted "Sorry, I wouldn't be comfortable working on your piece" or "I don't know how to fix your watch". But instead, I got "I don't touch these because it's made in China" and "Your watch is fake". That's cute. My watch is a Swiss-made Maurice Lacroix purchased from an authorized dealer and was serviced 6 years ago by a Maurice Lacroix service center. Needless to say, I found his comments disrespectful and condescending. If you need your watch battery or strap changed, I'm sure he'll do a good job, as would anyone with a $10 watch repair kit from Amazon. But if you have a mechanical watch, find someplace else. read more

I have never dealt with such a horrible owner in my life. The owner refused to help me with a piece of jewelry that he repaired incorrectly (a watch pin). He thought raising his voice at my 60+ year old mother was a good idea. I am appalled and emplore all prospective customers to give their business to someone else, perhaps more respectful. Jay always finds a way to solve any problem when it comes to jewelry . He is able to size rings that have intricate designs all the way around when others say it is an impossible task. Jay is masterful; if you're missing stones, he will find something that matches perfectly, cut it down to size, and you won't be able to tell which stone is the one that Jay has replaced. I have been very satisfied with this shop he replaced the post to my silver earring, recently fixed a chain for me and I sold a little gold chain, bought another and he set up the new chain with my pendant. I went here because one of my friends has used his shop for years. He has bought watches and jewelry. One of my friends went on my recommendation and she was very pleased with the service he gave. Plan on having to wait sometimes because he tries to help everybody as quickly as possible. If his shop has a lot of people in it and you need time you had better plan on coming back. read more

I went in with my mother this past week and looked at a ring he had in the window. There man was extremely rude, pretended he couldn't speak English and would only point and made me go outside in the cold to show him which ring in wanted to try on. Then one I tried it on and was showing my mother, he forcefully pushed her hand out of the way and almost slapped her hand because she wanted to see the quality of the stones and if they would sparkle outside of the store lights. Went back and said that the stone is missing did he see it when he put the battery in. He started yelling at me" Are you crazy? I didn't take it". I never accused him and he continued yelling . I have always loved jewelry and had walked by Arbre d'Or many times on my way to the train station, but had never thought to stop in until I commented to a friend of mine that I LOVED a necklace she was wearing and she told me that it was a piece that she had designed and the owner of this shop had made it for her exactly as she wanted. I had been toying with an idea for a ring and earring suite for awhile, but didn't know where to go or who to turn to to make the pieces come to life for me. I also don't trust jewelers easily (had a couple negative experiences in the city so super picky and cautious about who I turn to now), but after my friend showed me a couple more gorgeous rings and a bracelet that he had also created to fulfill her visions and told me how wonderful the owner was, I decided to give the shop a chance. (She apparently has been going to him for everything from changing watch batteries to chain repairs to designing diamond jewelry for the last year and a half...). And I'm really thankful and happy that I did! When you first walk in, the interior is not much to look at (hence the 4 stars instead of 5). But after the shop owner came out and we started talking about how my friend referred me to him, he was very personable and immediately remembered her by name. I had a couple sketches that I had brought with me and after talking them over with the owner, he told me that he could have the pieces ready for me in a couple weeks. After only a week and a half, he called and left a message saying that my ring and earrings were completed and that I could come in to pick them up. The designs came out even better than I had expected and I was THRILLED with the way they turned out! Not only did the jewelry turn out gorgeously, but the owner was skilled, efficient, and the price was right as well....! No wonder my friend recommended this place :) WIll definitely be back with more ideas next time...! read more

This place is great. I've brought a few items for batteries in the past - all good. Now I had an issue with my Baume & Mercier watch, which the company wanted outrageous money to fix. This used to be my favorite jewelry store with. Great selection of affordable rare jewelry. I love gemstones and my daughter too. We used to get her birthday gifts from here like for her big 21st bday etc. But lately I go in and ask for watch batteries of a strap and he tells me I need expensive repair. I know rent is high but this is not cool. Also he was nice and his wife was verified GIA. But recently he seems mad And sometimes yells at people sometimes now. Sad. I have never been inside this store but since my watch conked out this morning I went inside to ask how much it would cost to replace the battery. The interior merchandise shelves of the place are sheathed floor to ceiling in protective plastic and the nasty, volatile person who emerged from the small repair area in back, wanted to see the watch and told me to leave when I said I didn't have it on and it was an inexpensive brand. Oddly enough, as I was standing outside, two separate individuals made their way in, conducted whatever business they had there in mere moments, and left. Whatever is going on at this place, they do not want ordinary jewelry customers and you can save yourself a needlessly unpleasant encounter with the rudest, you-fill-in-the-blank lout for miles. read more

I had a perfectly fine experience in this place. I had them do a small watch repair and replace batteries on several watches and it was all done well, quickly and inexpensively. I have been here a few times, mostly to get watch batteries and the owner was fine--not friendly or even pleasant but he did his thing. However, the last time I went inside for a watch band he was incredibly rude. I explained what I wanted in a new watch band (just a bit of a shine or slight design) and after a long wait he gave me a selection of three plain band bands from behind his glass-enclosed counter (all cheap-looking, dull in texture, and plain), although he had 100 or so on racks. I explained again what I wanted and asked if I could see the ones on revolving racks and he told me "No, you take one of these, or you leave!" I asked why I couldn't see the others and he said the three he had were fine and then yelled at me, saying I should just leave because "he did not need my business." I was embarrassed because I was not the only one in the store. Rude... and the used jewelry is overpriced. read more
