This time I went with a pecan and an apricot on the way down, and stopped again on the way back for a blackberry and a pecan. The pecans and apricot were top-notch, but I was underwhelmed with the blackberry. It is worth noting that they will typically have a case full of cold pies ready-to-go, but you can request a hot pie and they will make it and fry it on your order. As you would expect, a freshly-fried pie is crazy hot, so be sure to have some patience to let it cool before you shove the whole thing in your mouth. To be honest, I don't get the hype. I was going to order one of the fresh savory pies but didn't want to wait so I got a seasonal sweet potato pie. The flavor was good and the pie was filled well, but it was served to me cold. They didn't even reheat it. Stopped here after a long day at Turner Falls, evidently it was a few minutes past closing time but they still were selling any pies left from the day. I got the blackberry and the peach since they were out of apple. The filling of the pies is good, not amazing but good enough. The real star is the pie crust, I could eat it for days. I can only imagi e how great it would have been if it were fresh. The staff is super nice and friendly, or maybe they were just excited it was time to get off work.
