The iced tea came in an oversized glass. It was super busy in there. I don't know if that is typical, but maybe plan on the food taking a while. There was a faint odor of cigarette smoke. Let me start off by saying what a great mom and pops breakfast diner type place. Supporting local businesses for sure and they're prices are unbeatable! I am giving 4 stars because they have a smoking side and a non smoking side but you can of course still smell the musty smoke from the no smoking side. However the inside is very cute and the waitress we had was excellent. Extremely attentive, even gave us extra things like ibuprofen to help us out. The food was delicious, I had the Lumberjack Special with a LARGE pancake. In the pancake was ham, bacon, and sausage. It was delicious. It also came with 3 eggs, bacon, ham, sausage and hashbrowns on the side. I have leftovers and it was delicious. My husband had the breakfast burrito and it was huge, also delicious! Even showed her the brown lacing and brown on the bottom of the eggs and she insisted they were poached lol. Cute little place. Homemade delicious food. I had breakfast - 2 eggs, crispy hashbrowns, with a biscuit and gravy. YUM!!! Just like mine at home (but i don't have to clean). My family came in for some lunch and we got our drinks and sat there for about an hour before getting our food. Me and my brother ordered "Chicken Bites" and they came out burnt and the inside didn't even look like chicken. I took a bite and it tasted like fish and I couldn't even finish the food. Stupidly long wait for breakfast on a weekend (+90min). Calling ahead for a to-go order won't make a difference either. Not only that, but we're in the middle of a pandemic and no one -- absolutely no one -- wore masks, gloves, or social distanced. If you walk in there with a mask, expect patrons to stare at you and immediately change their conversation to something pro-Trump and anti-mask as if that's going to trigger you. I guess that's part of the "experience" and they throw in a homely vibe with the after-smell of burnt cigarettes for free. Fortunately, we didn't dine in so that didn't phase us much. Regarding the food, we ordered 2 poor girls specials, biscuits and gravy, and pancakes. We enjoyed the meal for the most part, but you could whip up the same or better in your own kitchen. Overall, the pancakes were huge, the eggs were to our liking, and the hash browns were tasty. The only thing we didn't like was that the gravy for the biscuits lacked flavor and the ham slices lacked quality. The waitress was nice but she was really bad at the actual service. She forgot a lot of stuff we requested and got our order incorrect even though there was only one other table when we sat down. She did not have the best manners; she was not terrible either. Just needs more training. I did not like the limited selection of breakfast food only. I actually hate breakfast food but my family wanted to go there for breakfast so I assumed they would at least have non-breakfast options for being a local diner. They really did not. Also, they are quite overpriced. I ordered a breakfast burrito after weighing my options and thought it was a ridiculous price for a burrito. Sonic doesn't even charge $8 for that and sonic is outrageous. The burrito was actually very dry and had no flavor. The only dish I liked was the massive pancake. That was really good, but we ran out of syrup after a few bites and it was super cold by the time the waitress got us the syrup. Let me also add that she did not give us straws until we asked for them a couple times and even then she only brought us enough for half the table. I might try a burger from there in the future, but it would have to be takeout. Probably not though because it just looked like it had to be infested with something. At first appearance, the place doesn't seem much. A basic hole in the wall type image. That in itself is not a bad thing. I like to eat in places that do not have the glam and glitz of the modern diner/eatery. I don't need bright colors and fancy advertising gimmicks. Poor Girls Cafe is just that; a down to earth place with a home-life feeling. The inside appearance is your basic group diner setting. Group tables with multiple groups sitting at a table. We were seated along the wall which was nice. There seemed to be a smoking area separated by said wall, and a door. The food was what you expect from a home-style establishment. I proceed to do their stack attack challenge, which consisted of: 3 giant stack pancakes (shown in pictures I have taken), 3 pieces of bacon, and 3 eggs. Unfortunately I was unable to defeat the challenge. I believe the service was best of all. When we entered it was crowded, but was greeted immediately by the staff. There were no available tables only for a minute, but the staff pointed us to a table that was in the process of being cleaned. Our order was taken by the most friendly waitress, who throughout our whole meal always checked up on us. Fortunately, it wasn't annoyingly over the top checking but just the right amount at the right time. It showed definite skill in engaging certain groups.
