But we still had some questions with upcoming payments and documents and they "seemed" eager to help. However, after we paid the fee for the tax filing, they completely ghosted us. I've sent them questions with documents three time asking them to respond and follow up and have gotten nothing. If you have too many clients and are too busy, at the very least respond and tell us, it takes less than a minute. Don't just repeatedly ignore our emails when you're the ones that offered to be helpful. Very unprofessional.

When I asked for clarification, I was told the retainer only covered preliminary setup and that additional forms identified during preparation resulted in extra charges. It was always a seamless process, done entirely by secure web upload and Zoom (I've never even been to their office in person!). The process was so smooth that I continued to use them even after moving out of California, and only stopped using Cynthia's services because I need a local tax expert who can deal with the local tax insanity in my new town in a different state. A lot of times we had issues with either the IRS or the state of California contesting our returns for one reason or another. Cynthia always advised us how to respond and held our hand during the process, and when possible she even called the IRS herself to have our refunds released. Pricing is very fair considering you get your taxes done by an actual IRS Enrolled Agent (not some made-up "Tax Advisor" who has no training or expertise in tax law, which is what you get at the big national chains).

Things started out fine when we first started working with him in Q4 of last year, but so far this year: -No one has balanced the books AT ALL -They were so last minute with filing sales taxes (within 24 hours of them being due) that it was a mess and I'm worried about it's accuracy - I had to contact them to ask where my monthly reports were when I realized just this week (mid March) I hadn't seen any reports or ever received a year end report for 2021 - While on todays call (which Dustin forgot about, I had to call him 15 minutes into the time he suggested), he told me we needed to file my S corp. I asked when it was due and he said... "today" (!!!!) When I asked how he planned ti do that he said "we will just pull all the info from your Quickbooks" and I said "when was the last time anyone actually looked at the Quickbooks?" And he admitted not since last year He explained that they were short staffed, which can happen to anyone, but the fact no one told me this is inexcusable. I'm now left desperately trying to find another accountant to help me clean up this mess. If you want to work with him, I would make sure you grill him on his capacity for new clients. I thought I'd done that in our first meeting and he assured me he had plenty of capacity, so really drive home that point. This was the single worst experience I've ever had with an accountant.
