We had breakfast in the restaurant. Decent although nothing special. Restaurant has a covered outdoor section which is a very nice feature as it does tend to rain unpredictably here.

The room was across the street. Very modern, but everything in good working condition. Breakfast was quite extensive and a bit on the sweet side (this is Portugal, not Germany). If next time the Casa do Arrabalde is closed, I will definitely come back here. Price is also perfectly acceptable. Stayed here two nights as we were considering it as one of the hotels for an upcoming wedding. I…read moreneeded to call maintenance several times. My hotel safe would not unlock and maintenance could hardly get it to open with their passcode either. Next night the toilet would not flush. When I needed to tell the hotel that the toilet would not flush is when I discovered the phones were not connected. When I went downstairs to tell the front desk that the toilet was not flushing, and the phones were not working there was a backup of seven people in line and one for receptionist working. They were severely understaffed, and there are too many maintenance issues with this hotel. Also, there's a sliding door that covers the bathroom and toilet and then it slides over and is the shower door. Very weird. The breakfast is massive and could provide anything anyone was interested in so that was A+. The food from the menus was excellent. The hotel is also very isolated away from everything other than walking across the street to a McDonald's. All in all we ended up not choosing this one of our guest hotels.

The room is huge and clean! Nice bed and shower. Although I need to say that the furniture looks a little bit old. The breakfast, good enough. It is not the usual buffet, but a couple of friendly waiters offers you whatever you want to eat (eggs, pastries, cheese, etc.). I only paid for my room (with breakfast 55€). And the location could not be better. Definitely I will come back here in my next trip to the cute city of Guimaraes!
