They honestly love, love, love your pets like their own. Being a long-term client with multiple pets, we have been through so much and have felt so grateful to entrust our pets' care to these wonderful, talented, and knowledgeable practitioners. We just had to say goodbye to our dear kitty, Brutus (14 years) after being diagnosed 4.5 months earlier with Stage 4 Kidney Disease. Dr. Koppy had seen him through everything since we adopted him: regular checkups, hematomas, luxating patella surgery, and this disease. Everyone from the receptionist to the vet techs to Dr. Koppy have continued to lead with expertise, compassion, and genuine care for our kitty, especially as we found treatments to work with his final illness. When Brutus was first diagnosed, my husband and I had so many questions and concerns and I was so grateful to have Dr. Koppy address every single one with patience, kindness, and understanding. I never once felt rushed or like just another client. Dr. Koppy and her team support guardians of pets as much as the pets themselves. They even brought us in to learn how to give Sub-cutaneous fluids at home. Dr. Koppy comforted us in letting us know that even though his kidneys were ill and we had to add supplements and medications, our kitty wasn't experiencing any pain as we managed his symptoms. When Brutus took a turn for the worst practically overnight (which Dr. Koppy prepared us for well ahead of time), I tried to get him in for an appointment at the clinic the day of. When I described his symptoms, they were very adamant that he needed to get seen even if it wasn't by them. They didn't have openings but put Brutus as #1 priority on the waitlist for the day and also directed me to a clinic that could have openings. Dr. Koppy called me several times that morning as well to talk through what was happening and what her recommendations and thoughts were, even though she couldn't examine him in person herself. I am so glad they did all of this because my cat was starting to suffer significantly and quickly. We were able to see the recommended clinic to get the necessary tests needed to confirm that it was time to prevent him from suffering any more. He went peacefully at home that evening in large part because of their concerns and recommendations. The staff respectfully checked in on us with a card and phone call. This experience has only deepened our relationship with LAH. I know whatever comes our way for our 2 remaining cats (17 yo and 10 yo), I can trust that Dr. Koppy and the Lyndale Animal Hospital team will continue to do everything they can to ensure their health, well-being, and dignity as they lead the fullest lives they can. My wife and I were…read morevisiting our daughter and her family in California and boarded our 11 year old English Cocker Sophie with a boarding kennel we have used extensively in the past. This time Sophie was attacked by another dog at group playtime. She received two deep punctures in her left flank and abdomen. The boarding kennel took her to Southview where they treated her - cleaned her wounds, sewed her up, gave her pain meds and antibiotics etc. The kennel called our son who is our emergency contact here and he called us early in the morning in California. Of course we were shocked and worried - after all we had left Sophie in what we expected to be safe place. We called Southview and spoke with Dr Mahanke. She spent a long time describing Sophie's injuries, treatment and prognosis which was good. Sophie was returned to the kennel where she was placed in confinement and where the staff did an excellent job of caring for her. She was returned to Southview for a check and Dr Mahanke called us and gave us a positive update we also set an appointment for Sophie after we returned. Sophie came home in good spirits but wearing an Elizabethan collar which was necessary but made feeding etc very awkward and uncomfortable We returned to Southview but Dr Mahanke was ill so we saw Dr Lee who removed her stitches and the Elizabethan collar much to Sophie's and our relief. Both of the vets and the vet tech were very friendly and they obviously cared very much about Sophie's well being. My wife and I were very pleased and would consider using Southview for routine car but it is a very long drive for us.

DO NOT BRING YOUR GREYHOUND HERE. Our greyhound dislocated her toe, we brought her here since we…read morecouldn't get in at our regular vet. I totally understand and respect that they need to triage patients, but we waited 4 hours before she received any pain management. Then, they insisted on taking xrays of the toe, despite dislocations being common in greyhounds and an easy fix. They also insisted on sedating her, despite her being a very chill dog, and despite sedation being riskier for greyhounds. After doing xrays, they told us that there was a "highly concerning area" on the xray that they thought was osteosarcoma, but that they needed more xrays to confirm. So we did more xrays. They still have not put the toe back in place. After more xrays, they say they're confident it's osteosarcoma, and go over how grave and serious that condition is, but say the radiation specialist has left for the weekend. Despite us advocating for them to put the toe back in place, they say it's too risky with osteosarcoma, and DON'T PUT THE TOE BACK IN PLACE. They also say greyhound anatomy is too difficult to splint, so they tell us to just rest and medicate her, and that we'll need to come back for MORE xrays and testing before amputating the leg for osteosarcoma. The entire process took over 7 hours and cost nearly $900. Over the weekend, she developed two new wounds on her toes due to the dislocation, and we made an appointment at another vet. Shortly after making this appointment, AERC calls to confirm that it's osteosarcoma, and to try to schedule us for more xrays and to begin the process of amputation. The second vet -- who specializes in greyhounds -- shared that the xray of her leg from AERC was blurry and her other leg and tail were overlapping the affected leg, so it wasn't possible to diagnose using those xrays. He put the toe back into place and then took more xrays -- no sedation needed -- and after reviewing them confirmed that she does NOT have osteosarcoma, but even if she did, due to her advanced age and limp in a different leg amputation would not be a proper course of treatment. Due to the deep wounds created from not treating her toe initially, she needed to start antibiotics. This vet also shared that AERC had mistreated a different greyhound recently who had subsequently come to him for aftercare -- and that after that experience, he contacted AERC to offer them education on proper treatment, and was ignored. So not only did we spend 7+ hours and nearly $900 dollars for our dog's toe to NOT be treated and for her to be given multiple unnecessary medications and sedation, they ALSO misdiagnosed our dog with aggressive cancer based off poorly done xrays and made an improper plan for care in what feels like an attempt to get more money out of us, and we had to get MORE xrays and medication to fix what they did. The entire process was incredibly financially predatory and inappropriate. Atrocious and incompetent care, especially considering they declined to get educated by a specialist after neglecting a different greyhound.
