The place is clean, the staff friendly, and the haircuts are good. I try to stop in whenever I need a haircut. However, one small word of warning: the place is cash only. They have an ATM on site, but it's one of the more expensive ATMs I've ever used -- the fee is $3.75 (and my bank then charges another $2.50 on top), so I have to add an extra $6.25 to my haircut price. :( They don't have any signage up saying, "Welcome to 1964, we're cash only," and finding out -after- you've gotten a haircut leaves you only the option of using their expensive machine. Also, NGL.... it is 2025. I've seen buskers with signs that accept card. Nobody carries cash anymore, and there's no legit reason to not accept cards. Pass that extra 3% or whatever on to me, it'd still be cheaper than the ATM fee.

I was skeptical when I first saw a barbershop was coming to Kemp Mill Shopping Center. The space…read morethey were going to occupy had a long string of businesses come and go over the years. Rich needed a hair trim and since Edwin's is so close to our home he decided to give them a try. The shop is new and clean with a number of chairs. Rich was pleasantly surprised when he got to the shop and they were busy. From reading other reviews I see Edwin already had a following from a nearby shop who followed him to his new shop. Unfortunately Rich didn't ask his barber's name as he did such an outstanding job. He took his time, would trim, step back, double-check and make adjustments he felt were needed. The final cut was one of the best Rich has ever had. And the price was extremely reasonable. Needless to say Edwin's will now be Rich's regular barbershop.

But let me tell you, the first guy took 45 min, second guy was 75 min in and still going by the time I left. The first barber (light-skinned latino) took 45 min, worked hard and did an excellent job on an older man. Honestly, while I waited and saw him work, I wanted my cut with him. Unfortunately he left to go inside their building and was replaced by this young black haired latino. He was working on this guy who walked in with a Phil Foden cut and 75 min in, largely unchanged but with a clean trim on the sides. (There was hardly any hair on the ground ) One reason his cut was taking so long was this barber was too busy live-streaming on his phone, occasionally looking at peoples' comments. It also didn't help he was cutting at a snail's pace. It's one thing to be attentive to detail (something the first barber was good at). It's another to just go hair by hair. Bad for business, wasting peoples' time, so much that I don't feel like stopping by the actual shop. Hope the business sees this and if they do, please let me know the name of that guy.
