So me and a group of friend of mine, stumbled upon this hidden gym in Montreal that sparked all of the kids minds in us. If you're looking for a place that you want to sit back, relax and experience and throwback games for free and all you have to do is just purchase cocktails and have a good time ,This is the place. I strongly suggest to take a group of friends go have a good time and relive the 80s and the 90s if you're gamer go ahead and check it out. The place even had a seating where you can get comfortable and have fun. They keep the hidden gems games behind the counter and you have to give your ID. I feel like whoever created this place that created the love video games, and wanted to share with the world. Oh, one additional note, they don't serve food, so please feel free to bring your food in while you have cocktails with it.

Arcades are a dying breed and this spot is an oasis that somehow is keeping it them alive and well. There's a plethora of well maintained games in here from classic arcade cabinets to retro consoles on big screens and projectors. And a bar! NOTE: This place has and continues to be cash only. Major downside in my opinion. I rarely carry enough cash on me these days. To get in, you pay $8 at the door. A great deal - You get unlimited play on everything and all games. No need for quarters! Want to beat a game you've never had enough quarters for? Go for it! (Be kind of course if it's crowded haha) unlimited retries feels like cheating but it can be so fun for the elusive games you've never done before. They actually update their selection a bit over time. At some point in the last year they added Crazy Taxi!! Right now off the top of my head they have Ms Pacman, Galaga, MissleCommand/Centipede combo, Marvel vs Capcom 2, The Simpsons, Terminator 2, Punch Out, Donkey Kong, Super Off-road, and 3-4 other classic original cabinets I can't remember. Plus, they have 2 MAME cabinets loaded with dozens of on demand emulated games and several classic SNES and N64 consoles with a selection of games for each and 4 player controllers!!! The bar is funny as hell. They of course have some on tap beers, including the local Pixel beer game-related beer on rotation, but also a selection of video game themed cocktails and shots! The only critiques I have here are that it's a bit expensive for the beers and it's cash only which always leaves me not able to spend as much as I want. However, if you're on a date or with friends, the Final Fantasy 6 shot deal looks awesome! It's 6 shots of potions, phoenix downs, and ethers for $20 CAD. It looks awesome and is just too cute, so the premium is all good. Highly recommend this spot. We have to keep the arcades alive! Open despite COVID! Acrylic dividers between arcade machines, great! Gotta wear a mask at all times as far as I know, which wasn't as uncomfortable as you'd think. Of course, gotta remove it temporarily to take a sip but everyone was being very mindful of the rules and keeping their masks on. Also someone goes around and cleans the machines whenever someone steps away regularly!

Sunday afternoon, and not many people inside this retro gaming location. Moderate sized interior lined with arcade machine, consoles, and a large bar in the middle. A cover charge of $7 to get in, which isn't so bad considering the selection here. Really like the console game area, where you can play games on the NES, SNES, Dreamcast, PS4, and on. As for drinks, beers range from $6-8 on draft and cocktails from $9 and up. I would say to skip the shooter specials as they don't have much alcohol in them. On the plus side, there is free popcorn to go with those drinks. Only one person working the place in the afternoon - which was more than enough considering the lack of crowd. An excellent stop for people trying to whittle away their afternoon.

We were on holiday, wandering aimlessly, and happened upon Arcade MTL. It turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. Arcade MTL is an arcade primarily filled with retro games, though they do have a PS4 and an N64 console as well. For the arcade games, think of a lot of your faves like: Street Fighter, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dr. Mario, etc. Their selection for N64 is extensive too. The logistics are pretty simple. Pay a small cover, (something around $7), and you can play any games you'd like. If you want to use the consoles, you'll have to leave a piece of ID in exchange for a controller. And if you get a little peckish, don't fret. They keep complementary popcorn flowing endlessly. On top of the games, there is a bar. We tried their Final Fantasy Shooters, which is 2 groups of 3 shots. The red one obviously represents a health potion, the blue is magic power or mana, and the yellow one is... take your own guess. Anyway, this was cool, but much more of a gimmick than actual shots. No one is getting buzzed off of these. My one piece of advise is to come early in the evening or in the afternoon. It's a great experience when you can just hop to whatever game you want, or just wait five minutes for the one that's calling you. Things get less entertaining when the place is busy and you really have to wait. If you want a taste of nostalgia with some friends, drop by Arcade MTL for a great time!

Wanted to play arcade games in Montreal and I found this one. It's inexpensive in a way you just pay $7 and play any games in their place. They have arcade games as well as ps4, Nintendo's. It's a good nostalgia for those 90s kids. They offer beers and some specialized drinks. A good place to hang out with your friends and play those classic games. If I want to say something bad, they don't have any ping pong tables. Would definitely go to this place once I am back to Montreal.

This place is so fun! I came here with 3 friends and we had such a fun night of playing games! It does get very crowded which means you have to stand by and wait for a game to open, but if you're there to relax and have fun, then it's no problem. There is a cover fee to enter, but once you are in, you are able to stay for the rest of the night! I'd be happy to come back!

Was here for 15 minutes, didn't appear that anyone was working, no one at the bar. Only about 6 people there. Would not recommend.

Lots of fun games to choose from. $8 to get in, games are unlimited! Cash only. (Donkey Kong cocktail tasted like OJ.)

What I love the most is the fact they have all the older gaming consoles available to play as well like Nintendo 64, Gamecube, and SNES.

You walk in and there's a clothing store on one side and black curtains straight ahead. I just stood there confused for a second until someone suddenly appeared and escorted me through the curtains, down a long dark hallway, and into this intimate, dimly lit bar. Turns out, I had accidentally stumbled into a speakeasy. The space is tiny--maybe 6-8 seats at the bar and a long banquet along the wall for 10-12 more people. No menus either. They ask what you like and don't like, then craft a cocktail specifically for you. The pours are generous and the bar is stocked with top-shelf liquor. About a drink and a half in, I realized I needed actual food immediately and had to leave. The staff was friendly, personable, and chatty, and because the space is so intimate, you naturally end up talking with the people around you. Definitely more of a solo or date-night spot than a group hang. Such a cool, unexpected experience.

I'm a fan of cocktail bars, and after reading up on this spot I made it my intention to check it out. It just so happened that it was a short walk from my hotel, so we decided to check it out one night before heading to dinner. The Cloakroom is a speakeasy, nestled behind a hidden door in a men's clothing shop. In the line of being a speakeasy, the space is small - there are only 24 seats but since we got there right at opening we were seated right away. The space is dark and intimate, with the bottles of liquor lit up behind the bar providing an attractive focal point. One of the more unique features of the bar is that there's no menu; we told our server the types of liquors we wanted along with the flavor notes and they crafted a cocktail based on our tastes. We ultimately had two rounds; my first drink was vodka-based and fruity, while I went with something gin-based and dryer. Both were very good - there's little fanfare with presentation; the bartenders let the drinks speak for themselves. Service was great; due to the setup, each patron is given extra attention which really highlighted the experience. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at The Cloakroom Bar. This was definitely a unique experience with excellent curated drinks. I would definitely return the next time I'm in Montreal.
