During that session, she did a simple card reading and told me that the man I'm dating is my "twin flame" but there was something blocking us. She said she needed another $175 to meditate alone for an hour to find out what was blocking us. I was intrigued and gave her another $175 -- that's a lot of money for me, but I really wanted answers. When I went back, I sat there for 10 minutes and was told a wild story about a past life where I supposedly committed suicide and that my only option to "move on" was to pay her hundreds or thousands more for a chakra cleansing. There was no other information -- just a scare tactic to pay more. This has nothing to do with me being "frightened or scared off." I was in absolute shock that I paid so much for basically nothing except a manipulative upsell. To make it worse, I found out she did the same thing to my friend -- she tried to get her to pay $150-$200 for a candle! This is all about money -- no real help, just constant upselling and fear tactics. I believe she is a major manipulator -- like a gypsy swindler who preys on people's vulnerabilities and trust. I have reported her to the Better Business Bureau and I am talking to a lawyer about whether what she's doing is even legal. Almost immediately, the Romani fortune teller pushed for an upgrade from the $95 10-card reading to an approximately $285 session, claiming I had too many questions for the basic service. During the reading, she said we had blocked energy for 50 years and I wouldn't get married without intervention. Her solution? A $750 "chakra cleanse" to remove the blockage. She also has complete packages with other services included available for $3,400. I think she's the most aggressive teller I've been to or seen. I don't actually believe I need this cleanse and I don't plan on getting one, but just out of curiosity I looked it up- typical chakra cleansing sessions in California range from $120-350, making her $750 fee more than double the standard rate. Her scare tactics felt manipulative, especially when targeting personal insecurities. While she did ask upfront whether I wanted to hear only positive predictions (I chose to hear both good and bad), the experience felt like a manipulative upsell. I left feeling drained and uncomfortable with the whole interaction. She seemed to be too much about the $$$$, and using scare tactics on hurt people isn't right. I felt drained after my session with her, upset she tried to do that on me, and dirty as if I now have bad juju on me. I guess this is standard and typical in these readings, but I don't like being asked to give my name, birthday, or personal identifiable information to people I don't know (I didn't, I gave a fake name and birthday). To be fair: She gave some helpful advice about a sick family member and a friend's legal issue. Her furniture is beautiful, and I do find Romani culture fascinating. She has some beautiful cultural artifacts in her space, and she gave us small gift bags that contained crosses and prayers on our way out. Still, it left a bad taste in my mouth how she tried telling me I needed a $750 cleanse. That required immediate expensive intervention felt manipulative, especially when she emphasized I "should have done this earlier" - classic pressure tactics to create urgency. I had some bad things come up in my reading (and apparently the $750 cleanse would help)....I don't feel it's good to get some of what these fortune tellers say in your head. They may be wrong, and you may act accordingly. I do believe she genuinely believes in a lot of what she's saying, but some of it is just scare tactics. After my session we stopped by a Russian Church in the area and prayed- that's what we should be doing- and it was free (except for the donation for candles).
