This is very pleasing to walk into. Lots of windows and a basic white on the walls, give it a…read morespacious, airy feel. The tables are not at all crowded. Looking over the Quay and estuary, you great a fabulous view of yachts and motor craft. You can also see the tour boats, and in the foreground an small open air gallery. The prices here are, well £9.50 for a salad starter, around £5 for a baguette. But here I think you get what you pay for - good food. In honesty we just had a drink here, but you sort of get the feel of a place like this. The staff were extemely friendly, and one declined my card for £1.55, blush, but a nice guy who I took to be a manager said he'd debit it £5 and give me the change. Now that's great service. Would love to come back here, as a guest.

I have been to the Boathouse a couple of times with friends who absolutely rave about the place,…read morebut truthfully, I just can't see the appeal. Sure, the food isn't bad, but it's nothing special and seems overpriced for what you get, but the thing that I can never get over is that for an apparently 'nice' restaurant, they seem content to stage the place with cheap looking plastic tables and chairs so that it feels more like you're eating at McDonalds than anywhere fancy. On the plus side the staff are very nice and it's lovely to sit outside and overlook the Quomps and the river, but if I'm paying this kind of money for my dinner, I'd rather go elsewhere.

I came here last week for a wedding and it was such a cool little hotel/wedding…read morevenue/pub/restaurant/bar! The wedding ceremony actually took place in the Pavilion across the road from the Hotel and was decorated very nicely. The rest of the wedding such as the meal and the reception took place in a little outbuilding attached to the main hotel called the Priory. The food was okay at the wedding however the service was very good. There were a few guests on our table who didn't drink alcohol so they bought around some alternative drinks for them and apologised for offering them alcohol. We also opted to stay for the night and our room was amazing! High ceilings, a lovely large bathroom, very comfortable bed. It was a shame that we were only staying for a night! Breakfast was included with the room as well and it was very pleasant. They had a menu of cooked breakfasts which you order with the waiter and a continental breakfast buffet such as croissants, jam, toast, ham, cereal, various bread etc. The tea and coffee is also ordered through the waiter. I opted for scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on an English muffin which was delicious. I'm so sorry but in the wedding excitement I didn't take any photographs!!

"King's Arms Restaurant, a let down on this visit."…read more We are staying at the King's Arms and usually we try the hotel's restaurant, it's a hit and miss affair but worth trying. This was a miss!! There's two of us, and despite this got shown to a rounds lamp table which is only fit for single diner. It's a Tuesday night and the restaurant is less than half full so couldn't work out that mistake, but did ask to be moved to a suitable table for two. Also they seated us next to a loud corner of 20s something, but other diners were seat well away from... So not a good start. Wine selection not great, only few French, odd Italian but loads of new world, which isn't a good sign, but I don't hold new world wines in any regards other than it's a party drink once the good stuff has gone. Good food, really was very good. Seabass was lovely, and the steak fillet was perfect. The only issue is that I had half of plate of packed salad leaf despite ordering mixed vegetables side, so had to move a big pile of salad around to get a few spoonful of veg on my plate. Dodging waitresses elbows was also a downer, got a bit silly that I moved my finished main plate onto a table next to me so I could enjoy an elbow free rest of the evening... Which funny enough didn't happen. So in short a meal short of £100 which was a fiasco.... My ideal restaurant experiences are as much to do with service and environment as much as the quality of the dishes, this failed apart from the dishes.

Without a doubt, this is where the beautiful people go! I certainly wouldn't put myself in this…read morecategory (nor would I particularly want to!), and truthfully I wouldn't go to this place out of choice, but it's a popular meeting place in Christchurch and a pleasant way to spend the start or end of an evening out. As you might imagine, there's plenty of people watching to be had here, but one of the nicest things about this place is the view of the Old Christchurch Priory out the back. On a Summer's evening, looking out from the decking towards the Priory ruins with a drink in your hand takes some beating. Apart from this though, this place is nothing out of the ordinary and a bit pretentious so I'd struggle to recommend it.

Soho are currently running a buy one pizza, get another free on a sunday, monday and tuesday night…read more My friend and I had spoken for ages about getting a drink and a catch up and Soho provided the ideal venue. It was bustling with activity and although we were told very politely by the staff that we'd have to wait for a table, we were more than happy to stand by the bar and get a drink. The food proved to be brilliant, freshly cooked and thin based pizzas so not to ruin my good work at trying to diet recently! I was so pleased with the evening that I wanted to leave a review. Would certainly suggest anyone to visit. A very Well Done to the staff and whoever's in charge!
