I switched to Dr. Archer after having a bad experience with my previous dentist (who gave me a pretty scary prognosis), and I'm definitely glad I made the change. Dr. Archer and her staff are incredibly friendly and professional, and I felt much better about the state of my teeth after a visit to her office. The office is shiny new (recently renovated) and all of the technology and equipment they use seems pretty state of the art. I got to see before and after pictures of my tooth as they did a filling! And again, I have to emphasize that the way the staff interact and dealt with me was far ahead of anything I've ever experienced before. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone. read more

My daughter and I had the privilege of visiting their beautiful modern office yesterday. After a thorough examination, and to my surprise, the dentist, Dr. A Valiushka, advised me to not get any dental work since I did not need it. She did, however, took a few X-rays of my teeth to make sure they were healthy. We also took advantage of our visit to get X-rays taken of my daughter's teeth. I was advised to get a night retainer and they proceeded to scan my teeth to get me a new and proper retainer. The other great ladies in the office where as delicate as Dr. A Valiushka, being very aware that most people don't like having any work done in their mouth. I must say, these are the most delicate dental workers I have ever gone to. They will be our "Forever Dentist" from now on. And we don't even live in Canada! He keeps things moving along and has the one way conversation thing nailed, just enough to keep you distracted. ;) Staff recommends preventative treatments but not pushy at all if they can wait. BEWARE. I went here for a cleaning + check up and while there the dentist upsold me on an additional cosmetic service that I didn't even need. I explained multiple times to the dentist and support staff, that I didn't want any services that weren't going to be 100% covered by my insurance. They all assured me that everything was covered and that I wouldn't be charged. And so I agreed to the service. On my way out I made sure to confirm with the receptionist once more. Again, she looked through the report and confirmed that I won't be charged. This was on Feb 7th. On Feb 22nd, I woke up to a number of emails stating that Archer Dental had attempted charge my credit card for $191.29. I was floored. I received no prompt or prior notice, just out of the blue, two weeks after service. Archer also sent an email (on that day) with invoices and receipts attached for the outstanding balance which, guess what, weren't covered by my health coverage! No explanation in the email just some attachments and a message that pretty much said " You owe us money". Shortly thereafter, I called the office to understand what was happening and spoke to the receptionist. I explained the situation and she pretty much acknowledged that it was due to a mistake on their part. She mentioned that they hadn't factored in the frequencies and limitations of some of the x-rays that were taken. She even mentioned that, she would be upset if she were in the same position. I recorded this call. I get that the practice might not know exactly what is covered until they send the report to the insurance provider but at the very least, they must surely have an idea of what is typically covered and what isn't. And they must surely be aware of typical frequency limitations on certain services. On Feb 7th, I asked many times and none of these potential situations were raised, I just got an unanimous "don't worry, it's all covered". Now, I've been emailing with the office manager and have been met with super condescending replies, constant reminders that it's not their fault because I consented to the service, and just now I was accused of potentially committing insurance fraud. I have been going to this clinic for many years and that will obviously come to an end. Please be aware and heed my warning. This was an abysmal experience and I will never recommend Archer Dental to anyone ever again. read more

I was so disappointed and I wish I never been there yesterday. I visited them yesterday for a filling treatment, the doctor didn't fully controls a medical liquid which burned inside of my mouth,my face, my lip. I am so worried that it would be a scar on my face, and it hurts, I can't fully open my month. I feeling everyone in my work place are looking on my face today. I don't often leave reviews, but this is the best dentist office that I've ever been to. The staff are more than courteous, they go out of their way to greet me at every visit. Izzy is an amazing hygienist, he is very gentle and does a great job of explaining the process. He even explains how I could be doing things a bit differently in a non-judgemental way. Dr. Wong is super friendly and has always been great at every visit. Been going here for three years, but decided enough was enough. Been surprised too many times by the invoice at the end. They don't tell you the cost, or what procedures are covered by your insurance until the end after it's processed. On my most recent visit, they offered to do an X-Ray on the fillings they did a few months ago to see how they were doing. They made it seem like it was a nice gesture that was free of charge... however, it turned out to be $30 and was not covered by my insurance. When I raised my concerns about their lack of transparency (which I had complained about a few times previously), they showed zero empathy and refused to resolve the situation. That was the last straw because it showed that Archer Dental cares more about penny pinching than the well-being and satisfaction of their customers. Definitely have had enough! read more

I've known Dr Archer for almost a year now and when my mom was having a toothache I went to her. I knew she would not take any shortcuts and be truthful with what needs to be done. She is very strict about the sterilization and follows the highest standard. My mom was very impressed with how clean the facility was. It's currently under renovations as she expanded into two offices. Overall Dr Archer was personable and friendly. The team was helpful as well. Despite operating with two instead of the soon to be four operatories she was able to balance all the patients and we just had to wait 10 minutes. After visiting Archer Dental at 2 locations and being passed from dentist to dentist over the years, my family will not be going back. Booking appointments weeks in advance only to be cut short because the dentist had to leave without notice is very unprofessional and inconsiderate. They are very caring, and was very professional and up to date with my cleaning and walked me through my wisdom teeth procedure. However, recently they've changed all the dentists on the team and they seem irritated while I take time out of my day to always make sure i'm on top of everything. Also, I feel as though they care more about how much I'm paying rather than telling me the cost of the procedure in advance. What if I don't have enough money to pay? This place is only about taking all your money from insurance and pocket. Front desk is not helpful always try to find fault on customers. I had an appointment for my wife,without telling her upfront what they are doing they as part of cleaning or giving a prior estimate they simply exhausted all the insurance amount about $2000 in a single appointment and had to pay some additional money from pocket as well. An experienced dentistry location should care about patients and keep them well informed on every single step they do. This place doesn't care about any of these or no values to customers .simlpy sending happy birthday emails doesn't do the job. All I want for Christmas is ..... Finding the right people to do the services and generally as a new transplant, word of mouth generally works and one of my peers couldn't stop raving about Dr. Archer, located in downtown Toronto. Checked out her website, clean and pristine (like how teeth should be) and bite the bullet to book the appointment. I was greeted warmly by Dr Archer & staff. They hung up my coat as I observe the office with what it looks like new renovations and included state of the art machines with TV monitor at the dentist's chair! A thoroughly clear explaination throughout the appointment from x-rays (watching your photos of teeth appear on the screen), used a Digital Panoramic x-ray machine, then they used a small camera to take images of teeth and even a gum analysis. As soon as the technical exams were done and before Dr Archer returned into the room, we went over my Wish list. This is something that I've never experienced before, a dentist that cares about my dental concerns. Finally, my teeth cleaning procedure was followed with the newest cavitron machine to clean precisely, gently, and easily the remove tartar build-up. It was gentle and bearable. When you are leaned back with the bright light, I was given a pair of glasses so the light is not blaring back at me as I 'm not squinting and giving uncomfortable glances to the assistant. Last but not least a sodium fluorides rinse. No teeth tray with the fluoride, just a two minute timed swish and the mini sink was just beside the chair with a mini tap. Overall, I'm happy and relieved to have my teeth feeling incredibly squeaky clean and my experience at this dental office has been a positive one. It exceeded my expectations as professional, friendly, and truly sincere. Sure I am sad that I now have two cavities to fill but that's my own negligence so don't delay on calling Dr Archer to be your dentist, after all she is voted Best in Toronto 2013 for Best Dentist in the Now Magazine. read more

I have been going to Archer Dental for a few years and never had a problem. I recommended to my husband that he should become a patient and that's when it fell apart. They seem more interested in selling him cosmetic services that are not covered by our benefits. They don't give him the important info he needs, like cost, just that his teeth are in need of these special upgrades. His teeth aren't perfect by any means, but he's comfortable with his smile and isn't in any discomfort. He was asked to sign a waiver at the beginning of his last appt and he didn't even know what his appt was for. They said that the service wasn't covered, but they wouldn't be able to give him a final cost until after the service was completed. When he asked what was even happening to his teeth, they said it was just a meet and greet to sell this service to him. The dentist there (not Dr Archer) stated he only needed one tooth fixed, but they might as well do 3 to make it worth the work. All out of pocket. Not to mention the receptionist has had difficulty in submitting our claims to our insurance (when there was never a problem before) and insinuating it's our problem and we need to deal with our insurance company. When we called, we were told the dentist needs to fix this. It's not our responsibility and we've been made to feel as if they're only about making money off of us. I am extremely picky were I go to have any type of service but for once I had not one complaint. I had my teeth cleaned inside out, afterwards they felt like polished marble. To date, the best dental experience of my life took place at Dr. Archer's practise last week. I've casually been searching for a new dentist and happened upon Dr. Archer. Her team is comprised of a slew of incredible women and her facilities are a dream. From her LED art designer bubble wall, lavender matching bibs to cups motif, her elegant style and endearing nature has me hooked. I went back the following week for my filling to be addressed, and as a bit of a baby when it comes to dental procedures (I have sensitive teeth) Dr. Archer recognized that and eased me gently into it. I did not know a dental experience could be so enjoyable. I was given a blanket (for security and protection lol, no for the AC) and then a hot towel after it was all said and done it's actually a dental spa and state of the art. While visiting Toronto, one of my daughter's baby tooth fell out. It was attached to her braces by an elastic band that was placed to hold it to the wire. We contacted our orthodontist who recommended we see Archer Dental. In the past, when my husband has had an orthodontic issue while visiting another city, there is a mutual agreement between orthodontists to see other orthodontist clients and of course the client would pay for whatever the necessary treatment would be, but it wouldn't be expected for the client to pay for a full examination or x-rays. When I called Archer, I was told we would need to pay for a full examination - $135, plus anything else the orthodontist would deem necessary. My husband called them to ask for clarification in case they misunderstood that all we needed was someone to remove the elastic from the tooth that had fallen out. While listening to his conversation, the receptionist re-iterated that in order for my daughter to be seen, she would need a full examination and she added- most likely a full set of x-rays. My daughter is 10 years old. It isn't safe for her to have unnecessary x-rays, especially since she just had a full set of x-rays at her orthodontist. We mentioned this, but we were told this is how it is at Archer. Needless to say, we canceled the appointment. Our orthodontist was shocked that Archer wouldn't do a quick and free examination and had mentioned the need for x-rays. Our two conversations with Archer confirmed that Archer would do unnecessary procedures as a money grab. I would not recommend Archer whatsoever. Save your time and money and find a honest place for your dental and orthodontic needs. read more

I don't think that this dentistry deserves such a good review as there are several very serious disadvantages there. First, they don't know how to handle clients' benefits/insurance and they charge past-expiration fees, which produces big losses in your pockets (which most of other dentistries know know how to handle). Went to get a second opinion after hearing I needed a lot of work (apparently I had lots of cavities) from another dentist I simply had bad feelings about, but after my exam at Archer, they told me it simply wasn't necessary with my history, and severity. I have never had a fear of dentists until having work done by Dr. Archer. I went to her for a cleaning - was told I needed a root canal, and she encouraged me to get two crowns "You're too young to lose your teeth." The first time she put in the crowns they were too high - and they fell out by themselves, the second time they were too short (she shaved my original teeth, and now they don't touch each other). Finally going for a second opinion I was informed that the root canal I got in the first place wasn't required. I am now in extreme discomfort when I chew, but have been assured that I'll get used to the discomfort, and the problem will sort itself out in the next year and half. She's expensive, hits you with unexpected charges, the staff at her Rosedale location are rude, and the experience was less than pleasant. Based on my treatment by Archer, I would discourage you from going to her. read more
