Purchased our last appliance there after 9 or 10 other appliance purchases. No different than Lowes or Home Depot now. Emailed about a fridge that Lowes had to see if they also had as I like to shop local if possible. Was told they did and I told them I would come out and look at it but they didn't have it available to show they instead showed me the website which I could have seen at home. Bought it anyway and set up delivery and was told they would call when on the way. The entire delivery day came and went no call no delivery no nothing. I called at 6:45 and got voicemail that they were closed leave a message. I don't enjoy waiting for a we'll call you delivery time anyway but to just not show up or call? Can get that service anywhere so why go through it for them read more

We recently went to Archer Home Center to look at Microwaves after several visits to local big named stores where they truly didn't know their products. This was definitely not the case at Archer Home Center. Our salesman, David, not only knew his products but showed us options that we were not aware of. Horrible, awful, terrible!!! Stay away!! Dishonest & unconcerned with their product & customer service after the sale is done & the money is in their pocket. I went to Archer's because my family also runs a small business & I realize the importance of supporting the small businesses in our community. BIG MISTAKE. These people are thieves. I bought $11,000 worth of carpet from them. That's ELEVEN THOUSAND. I have a large family & we are hard on carpet. Their sales pitch sold me on a miracle corn polymer carpet they were (maybe still are) carrying. It would last forever & all stains could be cleaned with just water. The construction & durability were unbeatable. What a load of BS!! After 6 months it became obvious that the carpet was NOT easily cleaned & had accumulated several stains I could not remove even with professional cleaning. Also, it was coming unraveled in many places. I called to discuss with them. They didn't care. I still owed them about $3,000 at this point & decided not to pay the remainder to see if that may get me some kind of service or attention. Nope. The only service that got me was service from a process server letting me know they were going to sue me for the remainder of the balance. I paid the remaining balance. I attempted to reach some kind of resolution with them using the Better Business Bureau - but surprise, surprise, they are not registered with the BBB. So the BBB contacted them regarding the issue & they ignored the BBB until they were essentially threatened by them. Then they sent a late, lazy, and inaccurate reply. They ignored the response to their initial reply also. The BBB informed me there was nothing more they could do & my remaining option was to contact the Iowa Attorney General. I decided however that it makes more sense for me to just review the heck out of them & let everyone know how awful they are. STAY AWAY!!! read more

We purchased a washer and dryer set from Kurt at Archer. We truly only needed the washer, as our dryer worked well, but we wanted the set to match. Kurt offered to pay 200.00 for the dryer sight unseen, taking our word for it that it worked well. Very unexpected, and made the purchase of a new dryer less painful. We paid less for the set than we would have at any of the big box stores. The delivery and installation by Mark and Dennis was easy and professionally handled; done well and on time as promised. Nothing but great things to say about Archer. Would much rather go to a smaller store that offers customer service and staff that are able to offer real information about their products. We'll go back and we recommend Archer to anyone. read more

"Match Anyone's Price Beat Everybody's Service" is their slogan, but they do not live up to it. We found a refrigerator that we wanted, but they could not find it with their distributor. They were supposed to check and call us the next day. They never called. I finally called them to find out that they had called their distributor. They had. Ok. Then why not call me back? We found the fridge we wanted with another store and had to beg these people to match their price (that was my husband's doing. I beg nobody to let me be their customer) It took 4 days to finally get them to agree to matching the price. They also insisted on matching their delivery charge. However, they don't match a "free" delivery charge. We ordered our fridge that took them two weeks to get it in. Again, I had to call to find out if it had come in rather than them calling us. We set up the appointment for delivery. The day of delivery, my husband called to get an ETA. He was told noon. 2pm came, and we had not heard from nor seen them. I called. Oh, they're running late. That's fine, but it was unacceptable to not have called us. How is that beating anyone else's service? We ordered a new fridge and a new washing machine. They scuffed up and dinged my walls doing the installation. Oh my gosh. Seriously? To top it off, they left black fingerprints all over my walls and appliances. 7 days later, we noticed our refrigerator buzzing. My husband emailed our salesman. We didn't hear back from him until almost 4:30pm the following business day. In the meantime, I called the store and asked to speak with David or Kurt. Neither was available. So, I asked specifically for Kurt to call me back. He never did. David tried to blame the buzzing on us having too much food in the refrigerator. That is not what I call competency. After doing a little research, we found that this was a common problem in the older units of our model. Nice. So, we got a 9 month old "brand-new" refrigerator. And, the problem was that we had too much food. So, he told my husband they would be out here either Tuesday or Wednesday of the following week. (It was Monday) I called back the next day to schedule an appointment. Waiting around for two days for someone to show or not show didn't work for me. Kurt wanted to "check with David" and call me back. No. Just schedule something. Why do you have to check with David first? So, I was scheduled for the next Tuesday. 7 days out. The repair man showed up with black fingers and left black finger prints on my counter tops. He confirmed that the problem was what my husband already told them it was and said he had to order the part so it wouldn't be until the following week . That was a complete waste of time. The following week came. They had one availability to come out, but both of us would not be home. So, Kurt asked if I'd leave the door open for him to just come in and make the repair. He must be out of his mind. Since I was unwilling to do this, I had to wait two weeks for the repair. The repair was made, and I would call them back for service anytime unless I needed it to be done in a timely manner. Their service man is personable and seems quite skilled in his work. The only complaint I had was the black fingerprints. He told me he'd call when he was on his way to give me time to clean out the fridge for him to make the repair. He remembered to do that and then got the repair done quite quickly. I did send a letter to the business advising them of my impression of them based on my first experience. Not that it matters to me, but I did not hear a word back from them. I know they received the letter because the check that was wrapped in it was cashed. We wanted to support this small business, so we ended up getting something different than what we wanted because it was made exclusively for Lowe's. Big mistake. And, we were prepared to buy new carpet and new cupboards from them. But, we learned our lesson. read more
