We had a sympathy plant delivered to McClendon Mortuary and Cremation for services on Thursday June…read more18,2020. However the plant was not in the location of the service nor given to the family. The next day I confirmed floral was delivered by florist; however when I called McClendon Mortuary to ask if they could check to see if Floral was missed, the gentleman was very rude, unhelpful, condescending and blatantly refused help saying they are not responsible for florals that are not prepared by their funeral home. I continued to ask for assistance in locating the floral since we clearly had proof of delivery (time of delivery and photo of plant inside McClendon Funeral home Flower Room). But the man refused. He did not offer me any assistance or customer service whatsoever. I have notified the family of the floral and will seek their help in finding the floral. However I feel to ask the grieving family to resolve a dispute with a company that is in business to service the needs of grieving families is utterly ridiculous. I will never use or recommend this Funeral Home to anyone.

My brother-in-law passed away in Houston, Texas. We needed to bring his remains back to St. Louis. David McClendon Jr. communicated with the funeral home in Houston and helped us with finalizing transportation arrangements from Houston to St. Louis. He talked to us daily for a week making sure that we were aware of everything that needed to be done while we were in Texas and preparing us for the arrangements that needed to be made in St. Louis. Their expertise and attention to every detail helped make the viewing and service an organized and beautiful occasion. I feel that my brother-in-law's homegoing service was perfect because McClendon Mortuary & Crematory went above and beyond to help us. I would like to thank the staff for their guidance and patience with us. I highly recommend McClendon Mortuary & Crematory.

The funeral was…read morefor an elderly person, and the mourners in attendance were reserved, considerate, and respectful, which made the treatment we received feel completely unwarranted. I arrived when the guard was in the restroom, so I was not subjected to a search, but I witnessed that the search itself was forceful and aggressive. The way staff treated people as they were exiting was disappointing. Recent incidents in the area seemed to be used as a justification for what came across as rudeness. I understand the need for extreme caution, but basic customer service should still be a priority. A funeral home should be able to exercise discernment based on the circumstances, such as the nature of the loss, the age of the individual, and the family they are actively working with. Instead, the focus seemed to be on moving people through as quickly as possible, with little consideration for elderly or disabled attendees, or even for those who simply needed a moment to use the restroom. People were rushed off the parking lot without being given any room to receive direction on what was next. There should be a designated area where guests can gather briefly after services, especially for those who traveled from out of town and need a moment to figure out where to go. The way everyone was rushed out felt disrespectful and dismissive.

Hiring Larry to handle my loved one's remains was one of the biggest and most devastating mistakes of my life. I will forever regret it. In my lowest hour and darkest days after losing my loved one, Larry was unresponsive, unprofessional, rude, and disrespectful. Shockingy so. Based on his behavior, I have little confidence that he handled my loved one with the incredible care they deserved and I will have to live with that horror for the rest of my days. It literally keeps me up at night sometimes. Please spare yourself this headache and heartache. Find a better vendor. There are SURELY many.
