I had shipped a gun to them from the lower 48 over a month ago from another gun shop. I went in to fill out another 4473 form for the transfer and was told I could pick it up after 5 days. Went back in after 5 days to pick up my rifle, then the guy said because I was under 21 I "could" be pushed out to 10 business days and that it would be better if I waited for the NICS check to go through! They definitely need to be more informed on the regulations, because there is no such law in Alaska that says under 21 can be held for 10 days. On top of that, any dude behind that counter has a nasty attitude and act like they hate their job. read more

Had a situation where I had no idea what I was doing and was pressed for time to get it done-If anyone can relate to that, then you will also appreciate how awesome it is when you find someone who will help you through that mess. Sterling at Arctic Ammo and Reloading was that guy! He went above and beyond what I would expect anyone to do. I honestly didn't think there were people like that anymore. He was just great. Helped me with everything that I was having to deal with and made my life a heck of a lot easier. Professional, courteous, cordial, timely, communicative, and also funny. I am incredibly pleased that I stopped into Arctic Ammo and met him. If you're into reloading and already a subject matter expert I'm sure this place is great however, today was my third visit and each time I've been either ignored or treated like an idiot. I try to shop locally and it's troubling when I'm treated nicer or more professionally at a "big box" store. Well, as they say, three strikes and you're out. Check them out and be your own judge but for me, I am off to sportsman's, cabellas, or bass pro for my future purchases. read more

Great local store with good prices and selection. I would say that they carry a lot of stuff for shooters on a budget. Solid selection of surplus rifles and new pistols. The shop has expanded lately and carry plenty of ammo, spare parts and steel targets. The owner runs a solid shop and I prefer to check their first supporting locals rather than box stores read more

Good staff but they keep poor company. Its hard to tell who works there and who does not. Bunch of people behind and around the counter just hanging out. I have bought a few rifles from Arctic Ammo, and find that the staff very knowledgeable and very helpful, the whole staff will go out of there way to help U find what U are looking for no matter if U R looking to upgrade your firearm are purchase a new firearm, I find that I'am treated with respect and there knowledge of firearm's, I will purchase all my future weapons from Arctic Ammo they carry almost all Accesories and if they R out are if U are looking for a certain part, are what ever U need they order it for U I have not been in a firearm store where I have felt comfortable as I do at Arctic Ammo, I would recommend to all friends and family too go check them out for yourself, and recommend that you can purchase a item and most of all they stand behind there products that they sell, which is hard to find these days. I had my guns shipped here from the lower 48 because they are an FFL and we moved to Alaska and couldn't drive all our guns through Canada. The check-in paperwork took forever to complete by the girl doing it because she kept answering the phone and helping other customers. I guess she thought I had nothing better to do for over an hour!!! I'm sure they are a great shop...but their staff needs to more familiar with the paperwork and treat all customers like they are important. I PAID them a fee to do the paperwork...I would assume they would then treat me like a customer and not some inconvenience. I probably won't shop there based on my first impression of their service. read more

The owner is very helpful and knowledgeable, but he is only one guy and the rest of the staff aren't as great. But they have a great selection other stores don't so if you have to wait to get with him you have a lot to look at. read more

I dropped my rifle off on march 5th, called every month and they were always waiting on the part. Finally on October 19 I gave up and went to pick it up and take it else where. When I asked for my gun back the guy said the part just came in. Really convenient huh? I personally think they saw the airline stickers on my rifle case, and just held on to it hoping I was just visiting so they could steal my gun. They wouldn't even give me my rifle back until I paid for the part that just happened to come in that day. read more
