Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience with Anthony Carter. I arrived on time for my scheduled appointment, but someone without an appointment was let ahead of me. I was told by Anthony it would be "just a couple of minutes," but he ended up spending well over half an hour with that walk-in--while I waited without any further explanation or apology. I understand things can come up, but when you schedule time with a client, there should be a level of professionalism and respect for their time. That wasn't the case here. read more

‼DONT GO TO GERARDO. He doesn't care about his clients. he missed my boyfriend's hair up on purpose. After they agreed on an Edgar cut, my boyfriend walked in with almost 10inches of long hair he gave him the shortest buzz cut I've ever seen and push his hairline all the way back Probably shorter than a number three guard. My boyfriend gets his haircut by him every time and he always get the same haircut even showed him pictures before he did this to him today And cut his long hair and bangs off . He is very carefree and definitely lost a client today. That's probably why he's so careless because he's always booked and knows it doesn't even matter if he does lose a client in his mind. One visit they nail it, the next visit is a miss, not with Helen. She also does a great job on my 15YO son who has stated more than once..."she is the best". Shout out to Jeremy Boven who not only cut my hair exactly how I wanted it, but also for cracking me up with his hilarious and sarcastic jokes (e.g Hit up this event tonight to see people making out on stage) and feeling comfortable enough to tell me about his family (particularly his ailing son). The brotha, who has been in the game for over 20 years, got skills! And I felt at home like at a typical barbershop. Despite formerly being a biz owner, he decided to join Ardmore, which has been in the game since 1953. (Damn!) Supposedly, it used to reside across the street before expanding. Still a neighborhood institution, though! Best $17 bucks in my life. Other things to note: - They only have four parking spaces in the front, but kore exists across the street. - It will cost you $17 per cut. Unfortunately, my barber's card reader didn't worn that day. - They have foosball available. Love the fact that sponsor local events, too. This was my first time at Ardmore Barbershop and it is well deserving of 5 stars. There was no wait as I had booked an appointment the day prior. I waited a day to post a review so I could properly wash my hair and style it "my way" and I could not be more pleased. I had gone to same stylist in DC for 20 years and after moving to Winston a year ago have received nothing by hatchet jobs. I told Jeremy this and he asked me a few questions about my style. He proceeded to shave, cut and trim and I didn't see any of it until the end. My wife approved and the next day fixing it came out exactly as I had expected - the best I have ever had here, according to my wife (the only person that matters). The neck shave and hot towel at the end were the icing on top. I WILL be back! read more

Walked in on a busy Saturday morning and only waited about 30 minutes before my son got in the chair. He's 6 and is a bit fidgety, but the barber was quick and engaging and he sat still for her the whole time. My experience with the same stylist was a different story. After telling her I was deaf in one ear, she hardly spoke to me the entire time. What was a simple razor job became painful for reasons not completely explained to me (something about my hair being too coarse and her having broken clippers) and, after a quick consult with the barber one chair over, the straight razor was ditched for something electric that felt like a belt sander. I was assured it would feel smooth as a baby's butt when I left, but I've never seen a baby that felt like it had 5 o'clock shadow. I was charged full price for both and left knowing I would be finishing the job on my own when I got home. Happy with my son's haircut, but not happy with mine. Cool old building tho. 3 stars. Update one month later: my boy and I went back and saw Casey. Night and day from last visit. He asked several times if the razor was biting or if I was comfortable. Talked about the area since we're new to it, and when it was my boy's turn, entertained him and was quick and efficient. AND he cut an amazing Spider-Man web into his fade, which my son sat still and endured for an extra 20 minutes. We will definitely be going back. read more
