The entrées were already on the table when we arrived. The plat and dessert were served buffet style. The menu is set so you don't have to do anything but enjoy. The entrées included a shredded carrot salad that I thought could use more vinegar but my dining partners assured me I was wrong. Also on the table were a cold lentil salad, smoked fish, and mushrooms all of which received unanimous thumbs up. There was also a bread station where you can cut off as many delicious slices as you want. The plat included veal and carrots in a yummy broth and pureed polenta. Both were as good as a hug from your grandmother. There were a variety of deserts and I heard no complaints from anyone. I opined that the chocolate cake was too rich and the women at the table looked at me like I had proclaimed my hatred for puppies and sunshine. Don't be afraid if you are seated at a large table. Practice your French and maybe you'll make a new friend. Four of us had lunch with a bottle of wine and the bill came to just under 20 euros each. They are open for lunch Monday thru Friday and dinner on Thursday & Friday only. The locals have found this place so call for reservations. Lucky for us it's just around the corner.

We opted for the 4 course menu, started with a dish of beet puree with quinoa salad and fresh cheese, then had a butternut squash dish with a spelt risotto and egg (could have used more salt), duck breast with cauliflower, and a sable with apples for dessert. With the exception of our second course which really would have popped with a bit more salt, everything else was nearly perfect. The dishes themselves are beautiful and colorful and well-balanced. You can make reservations easily online but we have had luck just walking in on a weekday as the space is pretty big for a restaurant here. They usually have 3 choices for entrée, plus the entrée du moment, 3 choices for plat (plus plat du moment), and 2 choices for dessert, a cheese plate, or the dessert du moment. I've always found the portions here to be generous, the plates interesting and tasty, and the ambiance very relaxed and casual. You can get a glass of wine for 4,5€ - 6€. Entrées: - The first time I went, I accidentally got tripe soup because of my limited French comprehension (I didn't know what tripe was, and just heard soup and shrimp). So I didn't like this, but this was my fault. - My husband got a beef tartare and tuna tartare - the portions were really generous and he said it tasted good, but unfortunately he got food poisoning from eating this that night :( We decided to give them another shot and came back again, just avoiding the tartare. - Squid & Pork Confit - This most recent time, I got the sautéed squid & pork confit and it was delicious. The squid was fresh and not chewy, and the pork complimented it well, in a creamy sauce. I loved this and would get it again if they had it on the menu. - Seared Foie Gras - My husband got this one and said it was delicious - it was 2 pieces of seared foie gras with rhubarb. I didn't try it because I couldn't eat it (I'm pregnant), but he would get this again. Plats: - I've gotten fish both times here, and they have both been really good, and generous portions of fish. - The first time we came here, my husband got the Iberian pork and he loved it. I tried it and wished I had gotten it. It was huge and cooked perfectly. - Swordfish & Duck Confit - On our most recent visit, my husband got this dish and it was really good, over a parmesan polenta. I liked this a lot - it was a bit on the rich side, but it was delicious. Desserts: - We got a chocolate cake with a molten center and it was delicious; I loved this and would absolutely get it again if I saw it on the menu. - Cheesecake with Strawberries - Different than traditional American cheesecake, but delicious, not too sweet, and fresh. Good for a lighter dessert. Overall, we love this place and would absolutely recommend either for lunch or dinner. Reasonably priced, good portions and nice service. If you're looking for traditional French food that is not overly pretentious, this is great.

We were able to get a 7:30 reservation for 4 without any problem on a Sunday night. This restaurant gets two stars for the following reasons: 1. ham croquettes. Frozen on the inside and definitely not fresh which we found to be extremely disturbing. We were charged for them despite the fact that we sent them back. (they did bring us some "hot" ones which were likely just cooked in the microwave). 2. calamari. breaded beyond recognition and when we tried to eat it the stringy calamari just sort of fell out of the fried breaded stuff... needless to say we did not finish that small plate. 3. Gambas in chorizo sauce. the sauce was incredibly thick and had an odd taste and smell. the shrimp were completely submerged in this sauce and probably over 1000 calories. Great crowd and it was fun to sit at the bar to watch the owner carve the ham. They have full ham sides hanging at the side of the bar - very cool. We had a variety of tapas - baked garlic shrimp, potato fritters, Spanish ham, grilled calamari and a red pepper stuffed bread. It was all nicely done but the ham was outstanding. My friend said it is made from Spanish pigs that are fed fruit and free range. It was tender and slightly sweet - paired nicely with the pepper bread. We had a nice bottle of Spanish red wine which had a nice complexity despite being a 2011 vintage. I haven't been to other tapas bars in Toulouse for comparison but for the fun and food I can certainly recommend this one.
