We had met with a half dozen other firms regarding replacement of a deteriorated, timber-lined hillside path to the lakefront. There were significant challenges due to slope, established trees, and limited site access. We also wanted the new path to be integrated and consistent with the existing landscape. At our initial meeting with Joe, we were impressed by his enthusiasm, creativity, and attention to details. We worked with him for about six months to refine the design, address permitting issues and select materials. Joe was always responsive to requests, offered constructive recommendations and enhanced the project design. Beyond replacing the path, we added a patio and seating area. The project took four weeks to complete in the fall of 2023. Joe's crew was exemplary - they were talented craftsmen - expert hardscape installers who worked hard all day and were mindful of neighbors' concerns - which were very few. The project was completed on time and on budget. We are pleased to have worked with Joe and his Landscape Architecture team and with the completed project.

Recently, we had an incredibly challenging water issue at our boat house. The property is over 100 years old, so we were told there wasn't much to do to change the drainage. Joe and his crew solved the issue after a bit of research. Not only have we solved the flooding, but the new deck is stunning. I would not suggest this company to anyone. We had them come out to look at the health of our tree…read morenear our home. They were first difficult to even get out to the house. Their response time is dismal and their "answering service" is horrible. Finally when they did come out they suggested pruning and the sales representative (William) discussed trimming any branches (no matter how high) so that there were no branches over our roof. He sent through the proposal and we signed. Then when the team came (several weeks later with only 1 day notice) they were very unprofessional. They asked my husband to sign their sheet before the job was complete and then didn't remove the high branches. I called back 3 times and finally got in touch with William. He was not apologetic and said that I had misunderstood him. Jim, a foreman, came back to the house to discuss it with me and he was very kind and promised they would resolve the issue. When they came back I wasn't home and they did cut off a few of the higher branches but I still don't feel that it was worth the price or what William had promised me in the initial discussion. At this point there was nothing to do but pay the invoice which I did. I will never use them again. The whole experience was a mess.

They have an arborist on staff who walked our grounds with the board and helped us identify tree needs and make long term plans for maintenance so we can factor that into our long term budget. Our sidewalk and parking lot is always cleared promptly and thoroughly when it snows. Walking from the bus stop I have wished more businesses contracted with Carrington because there is such a dramatic difference when you get to our sidewalk and the walking goes from treacherous to sure-footed.
