    Quigley Decks

    Quigley Decks

DO NOT USE Quigley Decks! As another reviewer stated, Tim (the owner) is quick to come out and…read moreprovide you with a design, quote and answer questions. During the planning process he was the most responsive of all the companies we interviewed and therefore went with him. Unfortunately all that changed once deck construction began -- his crew rarely worked, he was as not responsive to emails and texts raising concerns, and now has abandoned the project unfinished. We signed a contract in May 2022, construction did not begin until October 2022 and was "mostly finished" by February. We are left with a deck with very loose railings, improperly constructed stairs, missing boards, siding missing and on and on. The deck was not built to code. We are going to have to resort to legal action to recoup costs (about $15,000) to have another contractor remedy the defects.

We hired Quigley April 2020 to build a 6x12 foot deck and he quoted us 3 weeks for the install. We…read moretherefore did not build the temporary steps from our patio door (which we already purchased the lumber for), but we held off due to the early install date. While we are realistic about rain and contractor time schedules, it took 3 months and many phone calls (mostly unanswered and never replied to) before they began the job. At that point, they built the floor but forgot we wanted surface mounted railings, rather than railings attached to the sides. We therefore have a large gap that would have been covered by the side-mounted railings, but was just left as is and has not been corrected (see picture). Then the crew disappeared. Literally, months later (November), after living with a deck with no railings with preschool age kids, our neighbor raised concern with the city about the safety of a deck with no railings and we discovered that Quigley had not actually even secured the appropriate permits (which were promised in our quote or we would have obtained ourselves). As we were facing a citation from the city, Quigley appeared, unannounced, and very roughly installed some (but not all) of the railings. The work was clearly rushed and the corners are not true. One side of our deck is still missing the privacy wall we were promised, and if it was not for our grill blocking the opening, our children could fall 5 feet off the edge. The stairs also have no rails. Given the history of ignoring the contract we signed, we insist on being present for the final installation and coordinated an install date. Nobody showed up, and again they did not return our phone calls. Roughly 2 or 3 other times this spring, they have since showed up unannounced and said they were installing the deck that day, but obviously we could not take off work with zero notice. We continue waiting for an actual, planned date so our deck is safe and up to code. Best of luck to anyone taking a risk on this company.

First off, I'd like to say how grateful I am to have found this company. David and his crew are…read moreabsolutely amazing! Very affordable and trustworthy. David is by far the most knowledgeable landscaper I've met. From start to finish, he keeps you in the loop with his work. His attention to detail is light years ahead of most landscapers I know. What sets him apart is his patience and dedication. He is always open for questions and suggestions which is a huge plus for me as I tend to have many questions and suggestions, but the biggest "nothing but net" slam dunk about him is that he keeps things realistic and opts for the most affordable option. He provides you with several options based on your budget to ensure everyone is on the same page. He is very punctual and definitely doesn't stand you up. David communicates his time of arrival in a clear and concise manner as this is important for me as I am juggling several things everyday. All in all, this company is a GEM and I am blessed to know David and his crew. Great folks. Would recommend them 100% to all walks of life. To David - Thanks for jumping on so quickly and being there to help us get our landscaping under control. We couldn't have done this without you and your team.

Maybe I didn't communicate what services I wanted properly (mow front and back and blow debris) but…read moreeach time someone arrived it seems they did not clearly know what was to be done and I had to tell them what to do. My back yard is on the edge of a conservancy and always mostly in shade and the ground stays soft so when a previous service had used a standing mower it left deep ruts in the yard that had to be filled. I told David this and asked not to use the standing mower but his guys used the standing mower anyway. The front of the house really cannot be done with the standing mower. David will no longer be doing anything in my yard.
