I have been patronizing the Indian Prairie Library it seems forever, since the days of the…read morebookmobile library. Nowadays, it is a state-of-the-art facility which caters to all age groups and I am getting to learn about what it has to offer (too much to note honestly). First of all, I will note that the staff are excellent - very pleasant, diverse and helpful, not only to someone like myself (with not obvious "disabilities") but to others as well. It is very quiet areas. I have been utilizing the private rooms for peace and quiet to accomplish computer activities and it is definitely much quieter than it was back in 2012 when I would frequent the library while in school for a degree. There is a wide variety of materials to be checked out: I learned about the "Library of Things", which are literally "things" that can be checked out and taken home with you (one of the many perks of being in the IPL district). If you don't know how to utilize the many services, feel free to ask Guest Services and a friendly person there can assist you. My best recommendation is to check out the link to their website: https://ippl.info for more information. No one library is perfect but I believe they would be open to suggestions. :)

This was the ceremony site of a friends wedding and it was a great choice. Very cute little cathedral with very high ceilings that connected at an angle. The father speaks Lithuanian so he can perform a dual language ceremony for you (and apparently they have classes in the language here as well). Beyond the cathedral this place is huge! Classrooms, bathrooms, a bathroom with a tub and shower, a kitchen, a beautician on site, a banquet hall, and a dining room that leads out onto a lawn with extra seating. We had the rehearsal dinner here with traditional Lithuanian food, wine and beer catered in (so alcohol is allowed). Definitely a place to keep in mind if you are looking for traditional Lithuanian. i sveikata!

From the train, you can walk to the Unity Temple, just follow the street signs to the Unity Temple. In the lobby, you will be given a pamphlet and a brief history about the temple. From there, you have the opportunity to take your time to walk around the temple. You certainly can tell, this masterpiece is from Frank Lloyd Wright. Granted, the temple is going under renovations, I would highly recommend taking a tour of this building.

It is close enough to the city that we can dine, play and even worship there but live in our burb. It is close to our favorite place for sports, the University of Illinois in Champaign. It might be far from where you live but hey, depending on who you are, this might be a plus! jk There is a great park district, tremendous schools and picturesque shopping. The property taxes are high because we have all these services and don't have a huge shopping center or industrial area. I am glad not to have those additions to a town which can lower taxes and I want the services so I am willing to pay the taxes. OK, I am done bragging about my town now, thanks for reading.
