Between the time you call to inquire about the program until the time you successfully graduate from the program you will feel the professionalism, compassion and love. If entered into the program they will partner you with people who will help you with your career, finances, budgeting, education, health and so much more. The amount of volunteers that go out of their way to help others in need are amazing! I highly recommend this program if you need help or want to volunteer and be part of an dynamic organization that is making a difference.

But after recently learning of this non-profit organization called Sharing Connections, those lazy days are over. A fantastic organization that does so much good in the community. Sharing Connections provides furniture and household items for low-income families, helping them make their houses or apartments feel like homes. Most of these families are coping with a major crisis such as domestic violence, homelessness, job loss, or a financial crisis. This is an opportunity for community members to show gratitude for their own blessings by helping someone who could use a little extra help. Because they respect the dignity of the families they serve, they want to give them furniture they'd be proud to have in their homes. This means that they only accept items that have been gently used. Items that are not soiled or broken. I recently assembled dressers that were provided by financial donations to Sharing Connections. A great way for anyone to spend their time. There are lots of ways to help. --your money, your unused belongings, or even just your time.

If you do know how to do these things, you should volunteer because they would love you. We had a great experience today. They have volunteers that are experienced that will teach you the way. They are very friendly and funny. You will work hard. We put up drywall, but the options of things you may do are endless (besides a few items like roofing). You volunteer for a full day, get a lunch break and a break in the morning. Be prepared to use a portapotty. Also be prepared to build a home or make modifications to a home for a person who really needs it. Worth it.

My son has flourished in their environment. We have seen such improvement in his day-to-day, behavior, and speech. The staff truly care about the children and are so attentive and thorough. They are the best of the best! HHC has open communication with teachers and staff, constant feedback and reviews on our sons goals and progress, and 1:1 assistance/teaching aides. My son loves being there! We are so thankful for the quality of care they provide. Would not know what to do if we didn't have HHC! They are family.

I was back and forth with Don regarding a broken dining chair. To his credit he was able to turn…read morethis job around in a brief amount of time ahead of the holidays and picked the chair up from me after a call to discuss the work. From there it is radio silence until I reach back out. He had an odd story about his phone being stolen to account for the lack of communication, then dropped the chair off outside of our agreed upon meeting window. We had agreed on a price and at no point was it indicated he would need to charge more, but at drop off he was asking for 20% more than we had agreed. When I challenged this I was met with indignant responses like "I charge $15 to drop it off" (not disclosed) and "I've been giving deals to people all day, I can't do this for free!" I had no expectation he would, but I also expect to be notified when we get out of scope on price. This is another lesson to reinforce that if someone has to tell you how fair they are they might not be.

We were sincerely grateful to Don for helping with 3 different home improvements. First, he was…read moreable to do a great job with an expert eye for the end result, and with top-of-the-line excellent tools and vacuum device to resurface the bay window in our living room. (Over the years, it became damaged with condensation and dog nail scratches.) He sanded with a dustless tool system to get to bare wood (amazingly, he did not need to tape and drape). Then he applied a perfect stain and layers of varnish. The result is a beautifully restored bay window seat. (Of note: We also contracted with a custom window professional to make a tempered glass top so now the window seat in our living room is also dog proof too!). Because he is so accomplished at furniture restoration, he also was able to restore a wrist-rest on our hardwood desk that has a pull out keyboard drawer. The varnish had become worn, discolored, and damaged with years of use. The result is a "looks like new" pull out keyboard drawer/wrist-rest. Third, because he is so knowledgeable and versatile, our 60-year-old home outdoor well-warn shutters needed a better look and refinishing. However, after we researched wood options, a more ideal approach was found to maximize the look of our face brick and contextualize the architecture of our home Subsequently, he expertly, willingly, and helpfully installed an alternate wrought iron exterior shutters that are PERFECT! Don is a delight to work with. We are so grateful for his flexibility, skills, and "can-do" approach to 3 different well-overdue restorations to our home.
