We had a wonderful dinner here. Because we couldn't make up our minds - there were so many choices - we each had a bentu box. Mine had way more good than I could eat - and I tried because it was so delicious. It had tempura with 2 shrimps, a spiced salmon salad, chicken terriaki, 6 pieces of sashimi, and rice. Since moving to Kamloops 2 years ago and trying different sushi places, this is my go to place and that will never change! I've never had bad service and the food is always hot, fresh and just absolutely amazing. Every time you walk in the kitchen staff who are busy making food do not hesitate to all yell a hello to you, I've never seen this before and it's such a great touch to the experience. I've been to Arigato 3 or 4 times and have never had a bad experience. The price is reasonable and the quality is really good. The only negative I could ever say is that when they're really busy the meal can take a while to be served - but because I'm not a dick I realise that that's just because they're limited in their size and capacity. read more

My experience and this restaurant tonight was horrifying. A friend and I went for a late dinner. After ordering our food, my friend pointed out that there was a MOUSE skittering along the floor. As we were noticing this ourselves, so did our server. She went to the back and got what I am assuming is the owner or manager. She took a broom, smushed the mouse along the wall repeatedly and the proceeded to step on it. After killing it, she then put the dead mouse in a plastic grocery bag and took it to the back. Our server then swept the floors with the same broom. As we were sitting about 3ft away from this situation, it was clear that we knew what was going on. Despite this, no one said anything about it to us, no apology, nothing. No one could pay me to go to this restaurant ever again. If I could give it 0 stars I would. read more

I read the reviews before mine and felt closer to the first review. I'd been to 4 other sushi restaurants in town and was pleasantly surprised by the tempura: light, crispy, and not heavily greasy like it so often is. We also ordered some boxes and I was pleased that every item in my box was delicious: the miso soup wasn't salty, the ginger was fresh and the yaki soba was not drenched in sauce but pretty tasty. When we went, the booths were clean and the washroom was in good shape. I've been here over 10 times, and though service can be slow (especially when there are a lot of customers at dinner) the owners are otherwise really kind and the servers friendly. Other than the service, and the fact that it's really hard to get stellar Japanese food in the interior BC, this is otherwise one of my favorite places to eat in town. read more

I used to dine here or request take-out on a regular basis. However, on this date I ordered the Seafood Udo for take-out and it was not very good at all. The fish was all over-cooked as were the clams, squid, mussels etc. Some of it was inedible. I phoned and complained around 9pm and the owner had left for the day. The woman in charge did ask me to come in person to the restaurant that same evening and the owner actually met me there and apologized for the bad food and refunded my money. Will I return? Not sure as I lost trust in the quality of the food they serve. If there had been any quality control they would have thrown this batch out. I did appreciate the responsible customer service but can no longer recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Only place I'll ever get sushi from, every time I go, I'm greeted by every worker (which can be a little overwhelming when everyone's shouting "HELLO!" at you. I find other sushi places have smaller sizes rolls. Here you get big rolls, the miso soup isn't too salty. The best part is, if there isn't many customers in, the chef will make up a roll for you to try for free! Sometimes it's a full order sometimes it's one roll per person at the table. I've NEVER been let down. It's clean and sushi is very nicely presented. I was at the valley view one once, and wasn't sure if I liked miso soup, so she told me she'd bring some for me to try & ended up giving me a whole order of miso on the house. I love free read more

Cross contamination caused the person I was with to have a bad allergic reaction even tho the server was informed of the allergy. This isn't been a problem in the past so either the server didn't notify the kitchen of the allergy or the chef didn't properly sanitize his cutting board and utensils. Very disappointed. read more

Absolutely LOVE Arigato Sushi! Definitely our go-to place! Some of their sushi special rolls are as close as you will get to a foodgasm - I never knew what that meant until I tried one of their special rolls - worth every penny! What a disappointment. We tried this one as we were up the hill and knew Arigato is good - the Valley view one! We got there and all the tables around us were dirty - as if everyone left at the same time. It took them so long to ask us for drinks. We didn't get our food until an hour later (only because my boyfriend asked about the ETA of our food as the table beside us you came half hour after us got their food) as they never checked their tables unless delivering food. The reason for the delay? They forgot to punch in our order. once the guy left to finally do so, he came back with two soft drinks "on the house." When we finally got our food we were missing two orders of miso soup and a roll. Our table didn't have soy sauce dishes or soy sauce as the others did so we stole from one of the other tables that did. Frustrated we decided not to mention about the missing items as we didn't want to wait, again. We got our bill and the miso soups were on there. When we went up to pay, My boyfriend let them know about our experience, the missing items and the bill issue.The owner lady, I think, took them off and we reminded them about our experience - like, really ? She then offered 10% off - which is bad enough, especially when the table beside you got a plate (roll or whatever) on the house . It's too bad because the one in Valleyview is amazing - food and customer service (the guy greets you like a long lost friend every time!) and he walks around to each table, the other servers check in on you. Don't bother taking a child who needs a high chair here. When we arrived the host put our daughter's high chair in the aisle such that there was only about half a foot between her back and the table behind her. I asked to be moved as I didn't want any of the wait staff to bump our baby (we were the second table to arrive after open, the place was empty) and the host didn't acknowledge me and just moved the high chair to a different table and nearly brushed shoulders with me! At our new table we waited 5 minutes before the waitress and her attitude came to take our order. She didn't address my spouse or I when she arrived and simply said "what would you like?" So we just walked out and went somewhere else. Just an absolutely terrible experience in an empty restaurant. We definitely won't be going back. read more

Staff were kind and friendly. We ordered a huge order for take out, and it was ready within 15 minutes. The food itself - freaking spectacular. The tuna melts in your mouth. The salmon is creamy and delicious. The rolls were spectacular, and one of the special rolls that we ordered (not sure what it's called) was to die for. I am a huge fan of sushi and this is one of the best places I've been to. Will definitely return. 4.5 stars out of 5 - it was a little bit pricey. Totally worth it though! read more

The staff are so welcoming that you feel like family. The chefs greet you when you enter, and thank you when you leave. Their (customer service) approach to sushi (and the restaurant industry) and is superb. The presentation is excellent, and the quality and taste meets the same high standard that they have set. Such nice staff who seem very genuine, are very nice and also beautiful inside and out. The restaurant is nicely renovated and feels extremely welcoming. Great place for a family dinner and kids, and they definitely make you feel very welcome and at home. Best approach to customer service I have ever seen in the restaurant industry! I would often eat at Arigato Sushi when I lived in Kamloops from 2006 to 2008. The Sushi was pretty good and I could easily grab some take out if I didn't feel like eating in. I moved away for a few years and when I came back I was looking forward to eating there again. I have been twice in the last 3 months and I was disappointed both times. The quality has really gone down. The sushi was poorly put together and didn't taste very fresh. The restaurant wasn't not clean and the bathroom was disgusting. (If they can't be bothered to clean the bathroom how clean do they keep their food prep area? On my last visit I sat in a booth that had a strong odour of urine. After asking to be moved to another table I noticed that the chair I was sitting in was all sticky as though juice has been spilled on it and not properly wiped up. The restaurant was significantly less busy than it used to be. I remember lining up to get a table or place an order. Both times I have been in the last few months there were maybe 6 other people in the whole restaurant. Guessing I'm not the only one who has noticed a change in quality and cleanliness. Sunonomo salad - noodles mushy and over cooked and it seemed to be in water with a little bit of sugar - no flavor, no vinegar. Yeck. Did a take out order. Server on phone not willing to provide information about the menu and told me to go look it up on-line - but I hadn't been able to FIND it on-line. Got there figuring it was really busy and it was reason for her inability to provide information...there was one table there, which meant there was no reason for her unhelpfulness on the phone. It was a real chore for her to get extra soy sauce. Will go elsewhere next time. read more

Upon arrival at restaurant we were told to expect a wait time of 15 minutes, after waiting half an hour a table finally opened up and was then promptly given to a larger group that had just showed up by instruction from the manager, even though the waitress had stated we were at the head of the line. Save yourself. We were 100% disgusted with this "food". Our take-out did not include ANY wasabi or any ginger. We were given 2 small, very cheap paper napkins for three people. The tuna sashimi was GREEN all around the edges and smelled foul. We had to throw it out before we could even try the rest. Question: How do you make tough sushi? Ask Arigato - they know.
