Telemarketer called me to renew a Arizona Daily Star subscription and I said no. She lied to get a commission and started a new subscription for $32. I had to call an 800 number to cancel and it was customer service in another country. Slow and painful. She still tried to get me to keep the subsription. I refused. Friends this is fraud! Do not subscribe to this paper. If this is how they treat people they don't deserve to be in business. I was a business owner for 30 years and had real American customer service. This is a horrible and dishonest company. I miss two to three newspapers a month, months on end, I report it every time, and I'm given the credit of a few cents. The customer service said it wasn't them, it was the computer. But the computer was programmed by the company! The math for the credit doesn't work either. It works out to over $3.00 per paper delivery. After subscribing to this Star my entire adult life, at age 68, I'm canceling. read more

Once again this newspaper has trivialized the comics section. First you eliminated Non sequester. Then you reduced the size so that I need to use a magnifier to read the comics. Now you have eliminated Perls before Swine and Pickles the two most important comics for my wife and myself. Most likely we will cancel. The new comics section is just plain crap. Shame on you. once again I did not receive my newspaper! I called the 800 number only to be told it was to late to deliver the paper to me! So I had called at 7:25 and was told to call back after 7:30. I called at 7:40 and was told it was to late to deliver the paper! This is why I have cancelled the newspaper on prior occasions. Very spotty delivery! To me, this is ziutrageius to happen so often! Paper newspapers are obsolete and I was walking my dog and 2 twin granddaughters who are 5 at 6am on a Sunday, on the sidewalk mind you and this big 4door Dodge Ram pickup truck jumped the sidewalk and came right towards us to stop immediately before us and toss a newspaper out the window only to miss and still had to get out to deliver the newspaper. A young silly guy who is reckless careless and very disrespectful! I did call the customer service and registered a complaint. No doubt maybe he was high on meth otherwise how can you explain that? One year ago I signed up for the digital subscription under a special rate. This year I was notified that the renewal rate would be $5.00/month. Then on July 5th, 2023, I was billed $65 [full annual rate plus tax]. I tried to go to online account information and it stated my account was "inactive". sent an email to the email address provided - 3 times - and each time it came back as "undeliverable". Today tried to call 2 different customer service numbers and could only reach busy signal. Tried to use online "chat" option and the responder could not provide adequate response. It seemed as if the Agent was helping more than 1 person at a time. This publisher is terrible. Don't bother with the paper. just sign up for the free newsletters. Although we enjoy getting the physical paper I can not recommend the Arizona Daily Star. Yes they give you a good 3 month promotional price but then they send you email jacking the price way up. When you try to contact customer service you get someone in another country who is handling customer service for something like 250+ other companies. Not good at all. read more

The definition of insanity: Repeating the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. OK, call me crazy but I tried to renew my subscription to the Arizona Daily Star. After months and months of terrible customer service, incorrect billing, and just about every other mistake a company can make, I gave up and quit. But hey I'm the kind of guy who likes to read local news while having my morning coffee. Soooo, when I received an offer for the Star to be delivered 7 days a week for $15 a month I accepted. I'm sure some of you are saying "doesn't this guy ever learn..." And, you'd be right ! The second half of the $15/mo. promotion was 2 newspapers a week ( Sunday & Wednesday) for $ 5.00/mo. When I decided to take the Star only a couple of times a week I sent an e-mail to their offices who in turn said I had to call Customer Serves. I made several phone calls and after a couple of days I spoke to "Austin" in the Philippines. Austin was quick to tell me "that if I only took the Sunday and Wednesday editions it would cost me $27/ mo". My options were to more than double my cost to receive less than 1/3 the weekly subscription - or - continue receiving newspapers that would just be thrown directly into the recycle bin. So I stopped all subscription services from the Star. ( I can hear you laughing now....) read more

Arizona star in general-we were getting the Tucson and the Phoenix papers. We decided we didn't want the Phoenix paper anymore. Emailed them-no you have to call them. Called them, I didn't have the correct phone number they had on file, it was probably a number I had 15 years ago. I told them you better figure out a way to cancel the Phoenix paper or I will cancel both. I even had my account number. They decided they better forget the phone number. They got it done finally! I hate this paper! If it wasn't for my husband I wouldn't have it at all! read more
