Worst Dr office I've ever been to and I'm a senior. They tried to sell me a $3000 laser surgery that I don't need because I have macular degeneration. The people that work there are revolting. I have been seeing Dr McPhee for several years. he is a great ophthalmologist. However, when he decided to retire this year I was never notified and my appointment was cancelled. I called to make an appointment with another ophthalmologist in the office and I was scheduled with an optometrist instead. I have been a type 1 diabetic for 53 years and have had laser, vitrectomy and other eye surgery. this office is saying I only need to see an optometrist (against the advice of my internist and endocrinologist). Overall Arizona Eye at their McDowell location provides good service, except for overbooking appointments, had to wait over an hour the other day past the scheduled time. Had an appointment at the Sundance location in Buckeye, had a printout of the appointment. Took the day off of work and arrived 15 minutes early to an empty waiting room. The very unhelpful person at the counter said I don't have an appointment for you! I showed her the print out and she said that is from the old system, which it was not since I got it from their other office just yesterday, and they have the new system. She apparently asked the Doctor if they could take me, and the Doctor refused; this was a follow on an issue I was having following cataract surgery about one year ago. Did I mention the waiting room was empty. Since the Doctor failed to step up and take responsibility, all I can do is warn others, by sharing my experience. read more

2 stars for Dr. Kayinda who seemed to know what he was talking about, but minus stars for administration including the phone robots. From the time I called for an appointment until today it's been 377 days and I still do not have surgery scheduled. Even though I was referred by a opthalmologist and had all my records, I had to go through their optometrist before I could get an appt with the surgeon and each appt meant months of waiting. When I was finally accepted for surgery, the request to my insurance wasn't filed for months, even though I kept calling. The insurance company or Medicare were always blamed until I called them personally and discovered no request had been filed. This has to be the worst facility I've honestly ever been to in my entire life. Rude and very unprofessional staff that will literally laugh in your face. First they reschedule my appointment without confirming that's it's okay or calling, literally laugh in my face, and then have the most horrible and unhelpful staff. The exam went fine but after that it was not possible to schedule the surgery. Two calls to scheduling over a weeks time were never returned. Following my call to another location to try to schedule I get a call from the Scottsdale Center to please submit all paperwork. An email from scheduling with paperwork comes in to me that day which I returned same day. Then she emails me (this was Friday I believe) to tell me she will call Thursday to schedule. Thursday no call. By this time I'm looking for another doctor but am also open to moving forward if and when she calls. The call never came. A week later I call and speak with a nice lady in the billing department. Finding my story unbelievable she listens patiently and promises to update management on the issue. Now that I've found another doctor his office would like to see Dr. Goldmans records. Its no surprise that my appointment with the new doctor is tomorrow and 2 calls from my doctors staff to receive copies of my records have yet to produce ant response from Dr. Goldmans office. Finding a new ophthalmologist because of the frustration dealing with incompetent lazy staff. Every visit they screw up posting insurance payment to wrong chart when other family member wasn't even seen. I have to fix the error with a phone call and explaining their mistake over and over. I don't get it. Left 2 messages so far for medical records and 1 from new provider too that has also been ignored. read more

Dr. Brems runs his patients through his practice like a puppy mill. If he runs enough dogs through his careless hands, eventually you'll find a puppy that can see. I wish I had read all the reviews out there in advance. Wow. Who would ever see a doctor that has more one-star reviews than five-star reviews. Apparently me, because I didn't read the reviews. If you gamble, your odds of success is greater than obtaining a good outcome with your eyes. The doctors results were comparable to gambling, not quite fifty percent. Taking this level of chance on your eyes are not worth the positive outcome you are looking for. There are no redo's with your eyes. Also, confirming the lack of communication being expressed over and over, I did not learn until after the drip IV was in my blood-stream that I had glaucoma in my second eye. Cataract surgery almost 4 years ago left me extremely far sighted. Last week my retina came detached and they wouldn't even schedule an appointment due to a balance left over from the previous surgery. More concerned with money than patients, thankfully Barnett Dulaney took care of it as an emergency since a detached retina can quickly become permanent blindness. Go somewhere else, AZ eye specialists are unprofessional and very poor quality of care. read more

I would like to thank Dr.Brems and the office staff at Arizona Eye Specialist for removing my cataracts and restoring my vision! My left eye was 20-50, and my right was 20-40. They just completed my right eye; it was blurry at first, but after a couple of days, the right eye is clear enough to not wear my glasses. I can't wait until they fix the left eye in another 2 weeks. I should be able to throw my glasses away. Everyone is very friendly and efficient. I recommend them highly. read more

I went to one of their locations last year for eyeglasses and the prescription was never quite right. I was told they would change it once, which they did, but still were not good. They said no refunds so I went to another office and paid out of pocket for another pair of glasses. When I wanted to see an ophthalmologist for an issue I was having with sudden blurred vision, it took five phone calls (a total of 42 minutes on hold) to be told I can get an appointment in seven months. It offered to call me back, but I was not going to be at home. So I tried again this afternoon. After 15 minutes, I decided to use their offer to call me back when it was "my turn". Today I had a 1 PM appointment with Dr. Eisenhower. This was my first visit. After one hour I asked the girl at the front desk when I would be called back. She said you are next, but it probably will be another 15 to 20 minutes. It ended up being another 30 minutes just to go back to have my eyes tested. Then they left me in the waiting room for another two hours! I didn't see Dr. Eisenhower until 4 o'clock, he spent eight minutes with me! I will never come back to this office again. I recommend that you find another office to go to unless you want to spend three hours waiting to see a doctor. They only gives you eight minutes of his time. read more

I had a piece to tissue removed from eye lid on 11.6.24, Dr Brems sent it off to to Dermatopathologist and received results by Electronically on 11.9.24, I literally had to go into office on 11.27.24 for a copy of results. Front office receptionist asked if anyone called, text, or email me with results. Unbelievable patient care. read more

I've been going to the 3rd St & Osborn facility for years with excellent outcomes. My most recent has been with Dr Roden. He is excellent, very patient and successfully addressed my recent challenges. He gets 5 stars. The 1 star is the person who occupies the seat in the contact/eyeglasses shop. I returned one contact prescription for full refund and replace with a new prescription from Dr Roden. This person acknowledged her dislike in the paperwork involved in a return and because the second prescription was less expensive, offered to give me more contacts to make up the difference!! WHO DOES THAT? I don't think that's legal; I certainly know it's not ethical. I declined and 3 months later filed a grievance with my insurance provider. The claim adjustment had not been submitted. I just received a check with no explanation and short of what I am owed (the insurance has also been overcharged). This person has proven to be unreliable at the least and certainly should not be unsupervised. I will be a snowy August in Phoenix before I do business there. read more

I broke a gas perm contact lens and contacted the office for a replacement. All they would do is provide me with a date for an exam a week later and would not provide me with replacement lenses that were working just fine. I contacted an online source that could provide me with lenses but just needed the prescription from AZ eye specialists. I called several times and could not speak to an actual person, so left several messages. They never sent the prescription as requested. I called to any line that might have a person and just like Dona B, I was first in line for a long time then disconnected. I does not seem they are interested in helping me just getting me in the door for another exam. I cannot drive or do anything without my lenses which I explained to them to no avail. I've been in desperate need of an exam (diabetic & high risk for glaucoma) and new glasses for some time now. Despite having all the proper referrals and such, they've done nothing but jerk me around for an entire month - still haven't even been able to set up an appointment, let alone get the actual exam done. I went here for an exam due to eye issues. Special lenses were required to treat the problem. The ophthalmologist was great. However, when I went to the front desk to get my prescription, the guy told me I would need to sign something to get my prescription and that I would need to pay $60 to get it. I signed and paid. Then I get my EOB from insurance who indicate I was not responsible for that charge and it should have been included in the exam fees. So when they send me a bill for copay, I called insurance and they confirm that I shouldn't have paid the $60, only my $15 copay. I also find out that it is ILLEGAL for them to withhold my prescription to make me sign something and pay a fee. They are now using the excuse that I signed that waiver agreeing to pay anything that insurance doesn't pay as their "legal grounds" that I owed them the extra $60. Sneaky and crooked. Don't sign that waiver and when they say they won't give you your eye prescription without that, tell them it is illegal to withhold your prescription!!!! It's just too bad that the doctor was actually really good and it is their business practice that is flawed. read more

Double charged! Actually more than double. $110 for a routine eye exam & Rx for lenses! Every doctor I've been to for an update on my lenses has been around $50. This place charged a $60 office visit calling it a 'co-pay' even though I was paying cash, then after the exam they wanted an additional $50 for the Rx. And they didn't even do a glaucoma test which is normally included in a routine eye exam. The doctors are great, but their prices are ridiculous. read more

Doctor Goldman is so thorough, compassionate and professional. He listens to you and takes the time to explain what is happening with your eyes. The office staff greets everyone with a smile and are very friendly. The nurses are professional and do a great job. Dr. Brem was great with my in-person appointments but his follow-up and follow through is why I'm only giving 2 stars. I've called with important medical related questions; 4 times for 4 consecutive weeks, I received 1 response from his team but since they could not provide answers they promised to get back in touch with me. Weeks later and multiple messages to Arizona Eye Specialist, I have yet to hear back from him or his team. If you're a patient that likes to easily connect with your Doctor, I would certainly not suggest him. This is a review of the Front Desk and Appointment setting services... Not any of the doctors. Called a month earlier for an appointment with an Optometrist (OD) for my annual eye exam and gave my insurance specifics, and if needed I'll be looking for new prescription glasses. On the day, I drove 70 miles to the Scotdale, AZ location, only to find out they had me set up with an Ophthalmologist, who doesn't perform annual eye exam, nor accept my insurance, their response was ..."oppps, we made a mistake, we can re-schedule you for another appointment in a month...", how UNPROFESSIONAL people.... If I missed an appointment without calling 24hrs. prior, I'd be charged ... Will they credit me for driving so far to only find they screw up my appointment?... I don't think so...again not professional. Additionally, they had so many people in the waiting room they spilled out to the courtyard...something is very wrong with their Appointment setting services. read more

Even though now he only do half day clinic at the 3rd st. N Osborn location I still make my appointment there. I've been going to Arizona Eye Specialists since Jan 2021 and seeing Dr Sarah Maki. I can't say enough about her but she is professional very thorough and she is very detailed and explains all the negatives and positives of surgery procedure. I never felt pressured to do some thing at all. I am pleased with the office and the staff members they are always pleasant professional and ready to help. I've been to another doctor here in the valley and was not very pleased and this is what made me look for another specialist and I am thankful that I found Dr. Maki. I highly recommend her if you're having glaucoma or cataract issues and more so she is available in different offices to accommodate patients that live across the valley. My family and I have been going to Arizona Eye Specialists for many years. I recommended my mom and my brother to this clinic. I had been taking care of my mother who had major health problems. I was her full time 24/hr care giver for 2 years. She needed new glasses. I took her in to Arizona Eye Specialists. However, the Tech wrote the wrong eye glass prescription putting a munis when it should have been a plus, and Dr Mitzel approved it. My mother kept telling me she couldn't see out of her new eyeglasses. I don't wear glasses and she had dementia so I thought well they are new so it must take some getting use to. After a month of no improvement. In addition to her monthly lung, heart, diabetes and foot doctor appointments, we made another appointment to go back to Arizona Eye Specialists. That's when we found out the prescription was written wrong. Then they had the audacity to charge us for the visit and their mistake because we didn't come back sooner. I was up every 2 hours every night taking care of her, at times every hour, other times every 30 minutes. I was doing my best. Later that same year we went back and saw Dr. Miller instead of Dr. Mitzel. My mother had a lesion on her eye from a scratch that was bothering her. So Dr. Miller prescribed her an antibiotic eye ointment called Vigamox. After 3 days, her eye was getting worse. More painful, but this time it was getting red and she started to have problems opening here eye all the way. So we made an emergency appointment to go back to see Dr. Miller again. We told him her symptoms and asked for a different type of antibiotic eye ointment. He said to me "there is no other antibiotic eye ointment available" and that my mom was "Just going to have to deal with it." I couldn't believe there was no other antibiotic eye ointment invented in the world? I felt at a lost. Exhausted we left. I called my mother's insurance to find another eye specialist for a second opinion. By now I was extremely concerned about her eye. We found an eye specialist at Cigna. He took one look at her eye and at the antibiotic eye ointment that Dr. Miller prescribed and he said "She's allergic to this!" and he literally threw it in his garbage bin that was in his office. The Cigna eye specialist said there are many other antibiotic ointments for the eye. He gave her a different antibiotic eye ointment prescription and her eye began to heal after 3 days. I will never go back to Dr Miller or Arizona Eye Specialists. And I will NOT let my family go back there either! All a family member wants is for their loved ones to not go through any unnecessary suffering in the last months leading up to their death. read more
