When I got there, the office was locked, with a note on the door saying they were closed for lunch between 12 and I, with no visible inside activity. I gave them one more chance this year, only find a major problem this week when I received a final notice with a final payment due, but no proof of service, or backup information. I went to the Guadalupe office on 7/27/26 and was told they could not help with the situation, because it was not their problem. It belonged to their off-site billing section. I was told to contact corporate in Dallas by phone to resolve this matter. When I asked for a statement showing services provided, they said they do not have that information in their office. What? It is all in Dallas. The final notice came without my receiving any statement or billing or service information, either by mail or email. They added insult to injury when they sent an email wishing me Happy Birthday. So, no advance notice of any amount due, and no list of services provided prior to the late notice. I was told that everything is handled by corporate. What happened to the old medical practices where they were responsive to their patients? Is it all to the point of major corporations?

This is where I get my eye exams and buy my contacts so naturally, it's super convenient to be able to order eye glasses here as well. I don't see a separate page to review their Optician's, which is unfortunate because my experience there was horrible. I have bought several pairs of glasses over the years at this location. The last time was 2016, so yes, five years ago. The older gentleman who used to operate this store was kind, knowledgeable, and professional. Unfortunately, the current optician, Shelley Jewell, is just the opposite. First, their selection is underwhelming: not many frames to choose from. I picked two frames and then it was time for "the numbers." My prescription is so strong that my lens cost more than the frames. Shelley proceeded to give me a price that I thought was "kind of high" but then again, the lens always make the price higher. However, I then asked her to review ALL elements of this order: + High Index (thin lenses) vs Polycarbonate (thicker lenses) + Blue glare (if you're looking at computer screens) vs regular + Photochromatic or adaptive lens that get darker once you're outside in the sun + Progressive lens aka invisible bifocals (yes if you're 40+, that might be a thing) vs. regular lens There are four pricing tiers to choose from for thickness of lens, the lowest index aka thickest lens to the highest index aka thinnest lens. Once she explained the pricing, I realized Shelley had given me the pricing for the highest index lens. Super presumptuous. When I asked her to please itemize so that I could see the difference in pricing, Shelley made a face, as if she was totally put out. She then proceeded to inform me that the frame would "show" the thicker lens and it would be heavier. Not new information for someone who's been wearing glasses since I was a kid and now investing in them as an adult for 30+ years. Do you think I don't know that? She's trying to talk me out of the thicker lens because she doesn't want to do all the different cost breakdowns. Which is her job. And she wants me to spend more money. Which does not fit the price point I mentioned up front. Getting the middle grade lens was the best choice for me, given my budget, which I shared with her. I've had the "Cadillac" of lens, the highest index lens, before, when I could afford it. But that was not going to be this pair. She proceeded to calculate the different prices and write them down for me. I was going to ask her to do that for the second pair but a coworker came in and she got up from the table, to socialize with that person. IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR TRANSACTION. Are you kidding me? That nailed it. Done. Not spending my money here. As any good salesperson in ANY industry knows, none of this was good customer service/sales etiquette. incredibly short-sighted. Pun intended.

The people seem to act as if they are above the person asking for service and that they cannot be bothered to actually provide the time or effort to be friendly or make the customer feel welcome. The other person working did help me more, however I still felt unwelcome and that they were trying to get me out as soon as possible. This review is for the optical shop.

This review is based strictly on my two experiences bringing my elderly father to this office…read more Our previous visit was for a retina check and took 3 1/2 hours. I was there long enough to walk the parking lot and get 10,000 steps while I waited. I hoped that was an unusually bad day, but unfortunately today's experience was much of the same. Today, my dad had a 7:00 AM appointment--the first appointment of the day--for an injection in his eye. His eye was numbed shortly after we arrived, and then he was left sitting in the procedure room waiting. By 7:52, the doctor still had not performed the injection. He came in, administered additional numbing drops, said he would be back, and left again. My dad later told me that the injection was painful. I am not a doctor, so I can't say whether the long wait had anything to do with that, but as his daughter, of course it makes me question whether the original numbing medication was still adequately effective after sitting there for so long. During the wait, at least five medical assistants came in and out of his procedure room to access medication from a refrigerator. No knocking, just opening the door and coming in. I was also told I needed to put on a mask because this was a procedure room, yet the employees repeatedly entering the room were not wearing masks. If a refrigerator is accessed that frequently by staff, perhaps a patient's procedure room isn't the best place for it. What bothers me most, though, is the lack of consideration for elderly patients and the people responsible for getting them to these appointments. Many elderly patients can't simply drive themselves here, sit for several hours and drive themselves home. They depend on their children, spouses or caregivers for transportation. Those people have jobs, families and other responsibilities. Expecting a routine appointment to regularly take 2-3+ hours puts an unnecessary burden on both the patient and the person caring for them. I understand that doctors get behind. Emergencies happen. I don't expect a medical office to run perfectly on schedule every single day. But when our last appointment took 3 1/2 hours and today's 7:00 AM first appointment of the day involved this much waiting, it becomes difficult to view it as an occasional delay. It's also frustrating to read so many other reviews describing similar experiences. When the same concern is repeatedly mentioned by patients, you would hope the practice would recognize it and make an effort to improve. I'm not writing this because I expect special treatment. I simply believe elderly patients--and the family members who take responsibility for getting them to their medical care--deserve better consideration for their time, better communication while they're waiting, and a more organized experience.

Today I sat there for 2 hours before getting up and walking out. They are taking this "sit and…read morewait" process of theirs to whole new level. I will not go back. I don't have the kind of time it takes to see those people.
