Every touch point with this company is frustrating. They threaten you with a $25 late/no-show fee on all communications but when you arrive it's a disorganized mess. My appointment was at 10am. I had to wait for a car to leave to get parking in their completely full parking lot and then it took me two and a half hours of waiting in a jam packed waiting room before I was even seen by somebody. Then after you're done to add insult to injury I waited another 30 minutes in the waiting room before they could schedule my follow-up visit. The vibes were awful in the waiting room. the front desk staff was understandably tense and unfriendly and the waiting room was full of grumpy old people all loudly using their cell phones talking about how long the wait was. If you have other options I would strongly advise people against using this facility. read more

I took my son here for some testing ordered by his neuro. It was extremely busy, the clientele was all over the map, and I was a little nervous. But this is among the best medical experiences we've had. And we've had a lot. Our tech, Yesenia, answered all my son's questions, patiently and thoroughly, and put him at complete ease. This woman has a gift. Special needs moms know it when they see it, and I saw it. Josh was also exceptional at putting my son at ease. He was friendly and energetic. And Dr. Colsun spoke to my son (and not just to me), which is rare and extremely appreciated. Honestly, I was a little blown away. From check-in to check-out, everyone was great. read more

I was having an eye issue where it felt like there was something in my eye. I explained I had a prior detached retina and now a scleral buckle on my eye. I couldn't get into my Opthamologist so I came here for an appointment in late February 2026. After an exam, I was told everything was fine. 2 weeks later, the pain was worse so I called my surgeon. I was in surgery in a few days later to repair a scleral buckle extrusion. Not the best experience. Probably fine for general eye care, but not experienced with more advanced issues. read more

I was told by a different office that I would not be able to see ever again without my glasses. I was so depressed. Tried Barnet Dulany Perkins and Dr Amacher put the new lens in at an angle and now I can see without glasses. Not only that no eye drops. They use them during surgery. I have never been so happy. I can see out of my eye that a different Dr told me I wouldn't be able to because I have a bad astigmatism. Dr Amacher is so good it's scary. He saved my vision!!! Horrible- way too busy after driving almost two hours and arriving 2 minutes later than the courtesy window, getting lost in the parking lot ( after calling and trying to receive directions to arrive, on hold for about 30 minutes to let the office know I was running late). Multiple accidents on my way to the appointment. I was told I would need to reschedule. This told me a lot about the care I would receive no empathy. I have been a patient of this practive 4 years. I liked Dr. Berlin and Dr. Dansdill. The staff and lack of communication is one of the worst. I was scheduled for surgery Friday 9-12. Surgery was scheduled 2 months ago. Physican is so backed up. I received a call today from the surgery center. I was told I needed a driver. I stated I was told I didn't need a driver. After calling the practice 3 times to discuss the conflicting information. I was hung up on twice. The third time I spoke to the Surgery coordinator. She lack of empathy and concern, I decided to cancel the surgery. I will find a different eye specialist. The waiting room is always packed. The office is unorganized and needs more space. If you plan on using this practice plan on being there 3 hours if not longer. read more

You get there and check in on a table no staff interaction if you do interact with a staff they just walk you to check in on the the table, the tables are placed in high traffic areas if you try to check in on one of the three other tables you can get through. After checking in the wait begins 15 to 45 minutes of waiting to see the doctor and when you ask the doctors why it taking so long they advise when you come for your appointment expect to be there for 2 to 3 Hours. read more

Im writing this review from the waiting room. I have been here for 1 hour and 45 minutes waiting to be seen. I've informed the staff twice ( they have signs that say to tell a receptionist if you've been waiting) and each time I'm told that I'm next. This is the worst experience I've ever had seeing a medical professional. I checked in online and got here 20 minutes early. I can only imagine the quality of actual care that is provided based on this poor service. I highly advise not conducting business with Barnet- Delaney -Perkins Eye Center and Dr. Hutchings. After seeing a wonderful Optometrist for years, I had to switch providers due to a change in insurance. I had my first apt scheduled at BDP for today at 10:30. I left my house in plenty of time to arrive early for my exam. I am a very punctual person. Unfortunately, when I put in the name of the office in my phone, my GPS took me to the wrong complex (maybe an old office of theirs, I don't know what happened). When I figured out that I was not where I was supposed to be, I called the office. I was put on hold for 7 mins. I then spoke to a customer service rep at their call center. You can not call the office directly. I explained the situation and she said, "don't worry, you have a 15 min grace period". She also said she would call the office and let them know. I got to the office shortly thereafter, within the 15 min window, and was told I could not be seen because I was late. I explained that I had taken off work for this appointment and "Sierra" said, "we all have jobs in a very rude tone". I explained that I was in severe pain and had been waiting for this appointment. I also explained that my job did not allow me the flexibility to take off whenever I wanted as she said I could come back later that day like it was no big deal. Sierra also said, "you should have called and said you were running late". I told her I did. She rolled her eyes and said she was busy with other patients. During that time, another nurse came out and said in fact she did get a message stating I would be late. She said she talked to Dr. Hutchings and she said she would not see me. I actually feel fortunate that I did not get in to see this doctor due to the lack of professionalism and compassion that was demonstrated today. I accept my responsibility in being late, but how they handled it was unacceptable. I should have looked more closely at their other reviews, because they are more of the same. Drove 35+ minutes for a morning appointment. Sat in a huge waiting room with a dozen other patients. After 15 minutes, I asked for an update, and they said the Physician's Assistant would see me soon. After another 10 minutes, I told them I needed to leave if they couldn't get me in soon, and they offered no ETA, so I left. I never was called to speak with the nurse who gathers information, so it seemed likely that the physician's assistant wouldn't see me for at least another 20 minutes (minimum 45-60 minutes after my scheduled appointment time). I called the office manager, and she explained that they regularly run behind schedule. I specifically asked whether they would see me if I, as the patient, arrived over 30 minutes late for an appointment, and she said they would. So if you want visit this facility, I recommend you arrive at least 20-30 minutes late for your appointment -- that way, your wait time should be reasonable. Or, alternatively, book with a place that respects your time. read more

I am writing to formally complain about deceptive billing practices and poor customer service at Barnet Dulaney Eye Center. My husband and I scheduled annual eye exams, providing both our Vision and Health Insurance information on the new patient forms. Our Vision Insurance clearly covers exams with a $10 copay. However, we were told dilation was mandatory during the exam and later discovered our appointments were billed entirely to our Health Insurance, bypassing Vision coverage. As a result, we were each charged over $200 out-of-pocket--for what should have been $20 total. Both insurance providers confirmed the services should have been coded and billed to Vision Insurance. Despite multiple calls and a formal letter requesting correction, Barnet Dulaney staff refused to adjust the billing. We received no resolution--only repeated monthly statements, followed by collections notices. This experience has been unacceptable. We were overcharged, ignored, and ultimately sent to collections for charges that should never have occurred. I've worn glasses my entire life and have never encountered such unethical billing practices. read more

Was told by surgeon I would have anesthesia for cataract surgery. I asked for Xanex and was told I wouldn't need it. What I got on the day of surgery was anesthesia in my eye and a themble full of intervinious which might as well been an aspirin. They put on a HBP wrap that got so tight it cut off circulation and they let it continue 3 times before replacing it. I was terrified to begin with so by then I was terrified beyond reproach. Thank God the surgery only last about 10 min but no one even asked how I was doing. They treat patients like cattle on a ranch instead of individual people who have real physical and mental feelings. I have cancelled surgery for my 2nd eye. NOT DOING IT...... read more

Attempted their useless after hours call center , waited a couple hours with no call back from provider and then called back again and the answering service kept me on hold for about 15 min disconnected the call when they picked up, called back again to do it all over again and still no call back. read more

IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING COMING HERE, READ THIS FIRST!! This clinic is run by absolute morons. We checked in 20 minutes before my grandma's 2:30 PM final pre-op appointment. The parking lot was a nightmare upon arrival, completely full. We waited until 3:00 PM before we were finally called back. I didn't appreciate how we were treated by the PA who was assigned to us, Jagpreet Singh. He was quite curt when responding to our questions. He then ushered us to another waiting area in the back where we yet again had to wait another 20+ minutes before my grandma could begin the process of getting her eyes dilated. When meeting with the physician he told her she would need to return for yet ANOTHER appointment because her first doctor and assigned tech, Rachel Hunter failed to note in her file that she had a stroke. I know for a FACT that she disclosed this during her first appointment. She now needs to return for another test to be completed prior to her procedure. But wait there's more! We then had to wait another 25 minutes for them to call us up to even schedule an appointment. By the time we left the parking lot was near EMPTY! All in all, we spent nearly 3 hours in this clinic and accomplished practically nothing. Although it's been made abundantly clear that no one knows what they are doing here. TAKEAWAY: Find another clinic to spend your hard earned money at. The patient to staff ratio here is a joke. read more

I used 2 different locations. One for the eye surgery by Sun City and the other location in Goodyear. The eye surgery location had courteous staff and were respectful. They were reasonably on time. My eye surgeon was wonderful. Now on to the Goodyear location where I had all my diagnostic and follow-up visits. Terrible, they herd you through like cattle, are rude and disrespectful and don't apologize for making you wait way past your appointment time. I will say that my Dr. there, Dr. Pontzgraf was excellent. Another man there was complaining to the waiting room about the clinics service and lack of consideration and told them he was never coming back. I am right there with him! read more

2.5 years later I get a bill for something. Months of calls back and forth gave little answers and were minimally helpful with half my time spent on hold. For the surgery itself, Barnet Dulaney is a surgery mill. In and out as fast as they can and it shows. Bedside manner poor. Advice, especially to new and very scared patients, was minimal and when given, it was offered in a manner of "this is really Inconvenient for me to be spending time with you." Before the surgery I even went so far as to tell them I was scared/nervous but still was treated like I was being ridiculous. Eye surgery is scary. Meet your patients where they are. I do not recommend this company, especially for first time surgery. Maybe if you don't need much hand-holding and support you'd be okay here. It was definitely not for me, though. read more

On 3/5 i went to barnett delaney eye center for lens replacement. I was told that my post op meds ( a pill to control eye pressure ) was to be taken after surgery and that night. As I was being escorted out of the building ( coming out of anesthesia) I asked if I was supposed to get the meds for pressure. They escorted me back in and gave me the post op meds and the evening meds. If I had not asked, I would have been out of luck, my guess is it would have been a line item on the bill, they don't seem to miss much on the bill. I was told not to rub or disturb the eye to reduce the risk of opening the incision. They taped my eye shut with no gauze so I had to peel if off, essentially rubbing the eye to get it off. I spent a good amount of time worrying that I had damaged the incision or hurt my chances of getting a good healing process. During the time I was told to keep the bandage on ( just tape mind you) I felt as if my eyelashes were poking my eye, once I saw the tape I believe they were in fact irritating the eye. I was supposed to use 2 different sets of drops post op, they only sent in one prescription so while i had the one to wet the eye, I was without the other one to help the eye heal. So again, not given what I need to heal properly or give myself the best chance at a great recovery. My post op was today and when I expressed my concerns, the response I got back was that they were not the ones who did my post op care so they should not be hearing about it. If I had issues I had to go to the surgery center but until then I should just be quiet. Barnett and Delaney put me in a position where i could have more damage to the eye because of poor care. Even under anesthesia, I knew what I was supposed to get better than their staff. I now understand why they need to ask me 20 + times if they are working on my left eye, they cant even read and administer post op instructions correctly. The surgery went well but considering the quality of post op care I received I have to think I am just lucky I was paying attention and not counting on them to care for me. I am posting here because i cannot find anywhere on the delaney website to provide feedback. Based on the employee response i got, I do not think they really care for honest feedback. I had cataract surgery on both eyes and while I am very happy with my "new eyes" I need to vent about customer service or most accurately wait times. We just left the phoenix office after mt last visit. 2 hours and that is not the longest we have spent there for an appointment. They move you from room to room and heheaven forbid you ask how much longer! I assume complaining to Dr Perkins would at least get me an apology but nope. I got a it's been a crazy day and how do you think I feel. Seriously? PSA: If you pay for an eye exam for a prescription, you are legally entitled to a copy of your prescription at not extra cost I called to get a copy of my prescription for my records and the lady on the phone tried to make me pay $52 for a copy. Stating "that's our policy". Title 16 of the United States Code of Federal Regulations, Chapter 1, Subchapter D, Part 456, § 456.2, titled 'Separation of Examination and Dispensing,' states "It is an unfair act or practice for an ophthalmologist or optometrist to: ..."(c) Charge the patient any fee in addition to the ophthalmologist's or optometrist's examination fee as a condition to releasing the prescription to the patient..." I had to call twice and email them saying what they are doing is in violation of the FTC. Only 4 days after my initial request did they finally email me the copy. read more

I was diagnosed with a cataract. I had to go to their facility 5 times before being able to have the surgery. Upon arrival their waiting room was packed with people. Sometimes no chairs are available. Four out of the five times they took me 1/2 hour or more past my appointment time. When you name is called they take you into a room for a test that takes less than 10 minutes, then they tell you to wait in another room full of people. No telling when your name will be called and when it is you're placed in another room and wait to have your name called again. By the time you're done, with your "appointment" it could be hours later. Since they started using the name American Vision their waiting times have become a nightmare. Many waiting for their appointments were complaining about the long waiting time. Some actually left the premises. Some staff members said it's a nightmare to work there. If you don't want to go on a camping trip, avoid this place! read more

They require you to be there a half hour before your appointment so you can get prepped before surgery but the only thing that happens is after an hour of waiting they finally call you just to make you wait again to now be prepped this place is not set up to work for their patients they are not organized as a group to make things run smoothly They ask you as the patient to bring someone with you so after surgery they can drive you home but they are not allowed to wait there for you because they get so backed up with everyone waiting they ask the person who needs to drive you home to wait outside they are very disorganized read more

Avoid at all cost! I scheduled an appointment to have a stye inspected in October 2021. They were scheduling a month out. Frustrating, yes, but understandable. Went to my appointment in early December and met with Dr. Berlin. He was fine. He took photos with a digital camera, prescribed some antibiotics and recommended I schedule a surgery sometime before Christmas. As I was checking out, I asked to schedule the surgery, per Dr. Berlin's recommendation. I was told someone from their surgery team would contact me within the week. A week passed and I never heard from anyone. I called several times, only to be told the surgery team was very busy and would get to me when they could. This went on for weeks (so clearly I wasn't able to get my surgery before Christmas). Even more frustrating, I found out I needed to schedule a PRE surgery appointment before I could actually schedule the surgery. I finally got that on the calendar for end of January. I was hoping this appointment would be an opportunity for Dr. Berlin to review the progression of the stye (which had been getting a bit better) and maybe recommend forgoing the surgery altogether. I show up at my pre surgery appointment only to find out I was NOT meeting with Dr. Berlin, but a PA who asked me all the intake questions I'd already answered back in December during my first visit. He had me sign some waivers and sent me on my way. No visit with a doctor. Still no scheduled surgery. And still no real understanding if I even needed the surgery at this point. I didn't feel comfortable moving forward with the surgery at this point and communicated my frustration. Then I get the bills. I was billed $55 on my first visit for "external photos." They charged $55 for someone to take a point-and-shoot digital camera and snap two photos. I could have done that and sent them photos myself. It was never communicated to me that this was optional or that this would incur additional charges. THEN I find out my redundant PA visit had a billed amount of $190 ... to be asked questions they already had record of, to sign a few papers and to never actually meet with the doctor. This whole experience has been so frustrating and ridiculous. Poor communication, long wait times, terrible billing practices. I will avoid Barney Delaney Perkins Eye Center and will encourage others to do the same. Just terrible and shameful. read more

I made my appointment a month in advance, took the afternoon off work, and arranged care for my toddler. When I get to their office, they tell me the doctor I'm scheduled to see is out for the week. The calls I got from them earlier were to confirm my appointment, and I had no prior notice that the doctor was out. And they had the audacity to ask me if I could come back tomorrow morning. I scheduled this a month ago. No I'm not coming back tomorrow morning, or ever. I understand that things happen, but why schedule appointments so far out and then cancel them the day of? Why not give me any notice, or offer a different doctor? It's very frustrating and I won't be returning here. It's sad too because I was a patient of theirs up in Flagstaff for a few years and always had a great experience up there. This Eye Center #()%& my eyes up very badly. I went in for cataract surgery and they "forgot" to insert a Lense so I had to return for a THIRD (one in one eye and two in the other, monovision). Now, it seems I have a condition CAUSED BY THE SURGERY which is similar to a cataract in one eye. My vision is terrible. NEVER go to this place, don't even drive by. read more

I won't be going back there again for an eye exam. They have a very large staff and you see a different person performing a specific test on your eyes. After all these tests and after your eyes are dialated, the doctor comes in for five minutes and looks at your eyes and says everything looks good. 2 1/2 hours later your done. Be careful, they tell you one thing and bill you for another even when your insurance company tells them they coded visit incorrectly. It's been a nightmare trying to get this fixed. He was very nice explaining that it was his fault that he didn't warm them up enough so he then ordered a frame from the Mesa location. It's been since 8/26 and still haven't got them. What are they coming in on pony express? Today I called the 602) 598-7646 and spoke with Amber from the call center. She was rude and didn't listen to me. She talked over me and wouldn't give me the direct phone number to the Phoenix location when she called that office she said "you have to wait for them to call you back!" What kind of business does that? New to Doctor Coulson, really liked him and his assistant. There checking process could be better, also waiting room to crowded. Once you see the doctor, visit moves quickly, Dr Coulson and I agreed on plan of care. Very personable, answered all of my questions, gave me a referral and made my appt. Also got new glasses at there store, just as reasonable priced but much better glasses. Very pleased Dr Coulson will be my ongoing opthalmologist. read more

Well again I go back for an appointment a couple weeks ago and after explaining to the lady that I only wanted my eye that the floater was in dilated she came back in and rudely told me if we don't dilate both as we cannot do it. I tried to explain to her that I've already had the eye looked at by two other doctors in their office and the only eye that had a problem was the one that had the floater. The other eye has a Pyridium in it and I know every time you dilate an eye there's an effect. And I didn't want to have my pterygium operated on any sooner than it needed to be since it's been operated on twice now in the last 18 years. She was rude I looked at I said fine I'm leaving she said goodbye. I don't even know how these people stay in business. read more
