Took a large watercolor painting in for special framing, as a gift from a very dear friend and artist. The staff were pleasant, helpful, expert and attentive to the needs I had for matting and for framing. Their selection and options helped me save on costs and still have the top shelf frame, glass and overall quality of framing. The end result was beautiful beyond my expectations! I could not be happier with the whole experience. We all want to get a bargain or save money, but most of us want those things without compromising on quality and final product. The main problem with this shop is the poor attitude of the owner and one of the framers. Major attitude and very rude. We tried to work out a design with them for a project and it took three weeks to text us a layout. We weren't happy with the layout, so we came back in and altered the project. After they said they could do the second layout, they contacted us and said they couldn't complete the job as we wanted. We had already put a down payment for the work and when they couldn't do the work to our liking, they charged us 120 dollars for a layout design (they wanted to charge us more, but we settled on this amount). Go to Mo's they are night and day more professional and hashed out the design and a computerized layout on the first visit in 20 minutes, Mo's could do what we wanted, highly suggest staying away from AP&F and go to Mo's !!! We were never informed the layout time would cost money and when we stopped the job, they got mad and demanded money. Compare that to mo's we left with a computer designed layout from the start and they had 100% confidence they would complete the work to our satisfaction and even ordered software updates to their mat cutter ! read more

The owner was also there while selecting the frame and provided information about the painting and made me feel welcome. My husband and I decided we would utilize the picture hanging service for the painting and that too was exceptional. Because of the professionalism and skill of Jasmine and John, who assisted with the hanging, we now have a perfect work of art that we will enjoy every day. Originally we stopped in to get some replacement bumpers. WOW! that turned into getting some Museum glass for a watercolor we have - can not say enough about how fantastic it looks now. We see details we had not noticed under the standard UV glass that was in it - highly recommended. We also purchased... get this: two paintings, one pre-framed and the other Karen suggested the PERFECT framing for, and went home to get a mirror to be framed. I can't say enough about how polite, knowledgable and friendly everyone was. We met the owner, I apologize we didn't get a name - she knows how to select art! The gallery is chock full of treasures. I'm going to stop here, not due to lack of good things to say though! 10 out of 10 - HIGHLY recommended for fantastic, well priced framing as well as some very nice art! Thank you! I wanted to reuse a frame I already had for a new piece of art. The woman behind the counter was super helpful in selecting a beautiful mat. I also needed a frame for a poster, and this place is has custom framing but it also has what I'd call semi custom. You can buy a prebuilt frame, select your glass, and optional backing or mat. Then you can assemble it yourself (if you want). I found it much easier to pick out the frame this way because you can easily browse the prebuilt frames. And the pricing and quality are excellent compared to...basically any other frame shop I've been to including Michaels. This is such a great shop. I had four posters framed here this past week. They helped pick colors to match each one, and they turned out great! This was the second time I did business here. The first time around, they fixed a bent up antique frame with broken glass. That one was of my in laws wedding picture. They set appropriate expectations, and it turned out great. Please note, I see these peoples overall rating is three stars. If you look closer, you see it's driven by three one star reviews and the rest five or four. Looking at the one star reviews, they appear to all be from the same source. All three people are friends or related. They may have had a bad experience, but I doubt they were three separate ones. read more

I love this local, family-owned business because they don't pressure up-sales, assist with picking out color schemes for background mats & frames, and provide quality work at an affordable price in a reasonable time period. I got four different photos from my wedding framed here for Mother's Day gifts, and the counter staff helped me pick out matting and frames that made the pictures pop--my mother AND mother-in-law loved them! Came in this morning and had a great experience looking at a wide selection of frames, they had decent prices for what I was looking for.

I don't think of myself as a person with framing needs, but I've frequented this business 3 times in the last 2 years so I guess I do have framing needs. To be honest, I just chose the place closest to my house, but this turns out to be a very nice shop. the staff are very friendly and helpful. Framing in general is pretty expensive and sometimes I feel like I should probably learn how to do it myself, but I don't think their prices are out of line with what the materials and services cost. In addition, it's a lovely little shop full of interesting art and other knickknacks for purchase. Every time I come in I want to buy these life size ceramic fu dogs, but I can't afford them, and also I live right on Columbus and if I put them on my porch some meth head would probably steal my fu dogs anyway. One day I will be able to have nice things. There is a life-sized and very realistic mannequin of an older lady trying to get something framed, which they keep at the end of the counter and dress seasonally. Don't be fooled by this lady. The first time I went in one of the staff was standing at the counter across from her, and I thought they were helping her, so I wandered around the store for 15 minutes. Every time I checked, that old lady was still standing there. Finally, I went up beside her and saw, to my astonishment, that she was plastic, and not likely to need any framing. I have worked across the street from this place for almost a year and never thought I would need their help but about 6 months ago my fiancé and I had engagement photos taken and beautiful printed that we paid a lot of money for. Now those prints were just sitting in our office waiting for a frame to magically appear. So after seeing a sign out front for frame sale I decided to check them out and see how expensive it would be to put my expensive photos up on the wall. Well much to my surprise it wasn't that bad! The sales girls helped me pick out the frames, mats and try out different styles until I found what worked best and she hooked me up with an awesome price too. When I said that I would be having family and friends over to my house in 4 days she said she would make sure my frames were done in time even though it normally takes a week. And she came through! I had a 19th century painting that the frame was a bit worse for wear. Wanted to keep the frame and have the inner relief replaced with a clean one. Due to the unique size that was not possible so AZ Picture & Frame recovered the relief area, remounted the artists name plate and re-mounted the painting. They did a terrific job and it looks original. read more

I regret that I am truly disappointed with McGoldrick's framing of my large photo-canvas. I made three trips--25-miles each way--to the shop to try to get the original, agreed-upon, work properly completed. I sent a private email on a Friday which gave a nine paragraph, 772-word, detailed documentation of the problems I encountered. In that email I noted that, as a small business owner myself, as a customer of this framing shop I experienced considerable inconvenience in travel and time away from my own work. Given that, while I would certainly ask that the corrections be made to the canvas, I suggested that a share of the $359 I spent for their work be refunded to me. The following Tuesday, I received a two-line response from Elizabeth Clayton (signed "Celia"). No apology for the trouble, time, and inconvenience I had experienced; no response to my detailed documentation; just a note that there was a medical emergency and that I should bring the canvas back in to "tighten up those corners". I sent a follow-up email, but received no reply. As one who tries to support local Tucson-area businesses, I can only say that the non-response I received from AZ Picture & Frame Gallery was tone deaf. I was at the store on Friday March 10th. Lisa was exceptional! I watched her deal with a previous customer with patience and efficiency while three of us were waiting our turn. She spent a considerable amount of time with me and offered many helpful suggestions in picking out a frame. I felt uncomfortable with the amount of customers waiting as no one was helping them so felt like I should rush. The store needs to get more employees to help hence the four stars.
