Stumble into this Handyman after searching Yelp for a need of finding the cause of a leak found in the garage ceiling. How much does it cost, how soon it can be fixed. I have a couple of others service provider to give a quote and Roberto offers the most competitive pricing. He even saw another issue and recommended a fix, where others have missed. So I went ahead and rewarded him the job. He came by on the expected time, date started and finished the job within the timeline that he set-up and agreed. The work was completed promptly and looks very good. He even showed the receipts on the materials that he brought needed for the job while writing the invoice. I hate giving reviews like this but it's only through others' experiences that allow someone to find help in an area that you have no expertise in. The good: Robert and his two guys did a fantastic job fixing our damaged fascia and doorjamb, replacing broken grout in our bathroom, replacing a faulty GFCI outlet, and rewiring an light switch. He was able to accommodate us quickly which was nice but there were a few things that occurred that made it less than a perfect experience. The bad: Robert gave me an hourly quote and we arranged a time in the morning for him to come see everything that needed to be done. He said he couldn't do the job that day, he needed materials so he had to come back the following morning. Not a huge deal but we had hoped to have it done before the painting began. Robert said he'd be back with two guys and be able to get it done in a few hours - when things started to wrap up, he told my husband the total was $350 more than what was anticipated because there were two extra guys. An extra cost for labor was never mentioned so that was a big negative. I don't know if he was trying to pull one over on my husband because he discussed the hourly terms with me or maybe he didn't communicate the change very well. We ended up agreeing on $60 over the anticipated price but I believe we were overcharged on materials as well as the labor. So while he did a really good job - the shadiness in the overpricing makes it, unfortunately, hard to recommend him. read more

My review is not much about work of Robert, but more about his character. Hired Robert to do lot of small jobs around the house. Since I have busy schedule, he suggested that he will buy all he needs from the store, and provide receipts. After looking at the receipts, noticed that there were lot of items that were either not related to my jobs, or were in excess quantities that he thought was okay for him to take home. After completing the job, Robert started asking for more money than what we agreed upon. One of the jobs was to clean the gutters. Robert cleaned gutters, but left the mess in the backyard for me to clean. One morning I was walking my dog when Robert came. He called me, and I told him that I will be home in 5 minutes. After reaching home, saw that he was already inside the house. Apparently, he decided to squeeze himself through the doggy door! Overall, I don't think Robert is person with high character, and I would not recommend hiring him. read more

We had some damage in the house caused by a water heater that leaked water into our kitchen area. Robert and his team came to our house promptly (on time as promised) and evaluated what needed to be done. Robert was very professional and explained exactly what he was going to do and why it needed to be done. It included replacing some drywall and baseboards in the kitchen area, treating different areas for mold and (when that work was done) repainting the walls that needed to be treated/replaced. We needed some fixes and repairs to a few electrical outlets. Robert came first to assess the job and scheduled an appointment to complete the job. On the appointment day, he called to keep me updated on his arrival time and was courteous and professional. I added a few outlets to replace on our original job order and he was very reasonable about that, I give him a five stars alone for not complaining. He did some troubleshooting on an outlet I have not been able to use for years, he found the issue, fixed it and now I have power again. I was very pleased with Robert's work. He came out the same day (during a holiday week!) and arrived when he said he would. Sorry to spoil the party, but I can't give this guy 5 stars. In fact, he doesn't even deserve 1 star from me, because the only thing he did was waste my time. I called him up on a Thursday or so. He answers with a confused "Hello? Who is this?" Now, I don't know about you, but if I was running a business or side business that required people calling you to schedule work, I would have a separate phone for it. And I wouldn't answer phone calls confused and acting like they are an inconvenience. Perhaps something like "Hey, this is XYZ from Arizona's Home Repair -- how can I help you?" (maybe asking too much, but my point was that by this time he had already came across as very unprofessional in my eyes.) He told me to text him the address and he would be there Saturday morning around noon. After the call ended I not only texted him the address, but exactly what I needed done and when he said he would arrive at my house, in hope that he'd make a note of it so he would be prepared to do all the work (about 20 minutes worth, by the way) on that day. I was up late on Friday and thus woke up "early" Saturday morning thinking I would need to let him in. I sat in my living room waiting for him. I hadn't showered because I didn't want to miss him if he did show up. Waited, reading articles online... 12:15... 12:30... 1pm. At around 1:10pm I called him and asked if he's coming. He said "I'm running late but should be there in about 2 hours." I said "Okay, good, see you then" and hung up. The two hours gave me enough time to shower, get ready, and eat, but that's about it. Continued reading; 3pm comes -- nobody's here. I figure he did say "_about_ 2 hours" so I cut him some slack. Then 3:30pm comes... 4pm... 4:30pm... 5pm. By this time I didn't want to call him again because I would probably have exploded on him. So, in summary, he wasted a good 4-5 hours of my day because he never showed up. Nor did he ever call. Or text. Or do anything to communicate that he would be late, or needed to cancel, or whatever. Completely unprofessional. read more

Highlights - Did not complete the job, agreed for refund but no action, leaves garbage at place We reached out to Robert for a patio painting at one of property and the second property for lots of work including painting, fixing small wall patches, kitchen cabinet finishing etc. For the first property - The floor painting started and the team painted on top. may times, they would cut corners. One example is that when the garage was painted, they did not want to wash the floor and just painted new paint on the existing one. Any small work extra on top of what discussed becomes a $100 item for each. The price keeps jumping. Over experience at this place was 3.5/5 The issue started with new place, Based on the first property and we choose to give that work to him. He charged 4K for painting + cabinet refinish + couple of small job over a long weekend. When came to check the property, the cabinet finish was a poor job and it was looking much worse than the damaged cabinets. we add few more jobs and paid in much more than the job that was complete. What hapenned next. Next day he doesnot show up for work 1st day - he got hurt at home 2nd day - he was sick 4th day - I had to call him couple of times.Basically 5 to 6 bags of paint papers, construction waste in black covers were left at the backyard. I had to call multiple times to pick up. Finally they picked and dumped when I was not around. I was told that his friend did that job week later - I asked him if he recovered and would complete the job. Now that I have paid 500 more ( for the next work). We talked for 15 minutes and decided that he will refund that money and no longer wishes to work at the place. His response was "its too far from santa clara to San ramon to work". Its been 4 months from this experience. So No rating provided. read more

Robert and crew did such a tremendous job with the door removal I ask him if he can build a pergola in the backyard. This is a large pergola 24 x 15 and 11 feet high. Robert told me the job will be complete in 6 days, removing my old pergola, installing two fans, electrical for my TV and fans and installing my solar shades. My husband and I found mold in our closet so we knew we had a pipe leaking in our wall ( and now mold) Robert came over and gave us an estimate (the lowest bid with the best yelp reviews) and a couple of days later they did a great job of remediating the mold, repairing the pipe, reinsulating/framing/dry walling/ texturing and painting the inside of our closet. They put down floor protection where the workers were coming in and out of the house. They also encapsulated the area where they were remediating the mold with visqueen so that it wouldn't get airborne ( we have kids and dogs). They were professional, displayed great craftsmanship, great price (kept to the bid as we had no changes in scope) and worked quickly.
