What a fine grocer! I've lived in this neck of the woods for a few years and it was only this week that I patronized Arlan's for the first time. Sure, I've heard that folks like Matthew McConaughey and Hakeem Olajuwon have been spotted here buying groceries. I've also heard from friends that Arlan's seems to always have what you need. Though this place is certainly worthy of a full grocery shopping trip, it's medium size also makes it outstanding for quick 3-5 item shopping trips. The meat, produce and packaged foods are all bountiful here. You'll also find plenty of paper goods, greeting cards, candy -- you name it. The beer aisle is impressive, with more micros and local micros than the HEB on TX 96 or the HEB just off Bay Area Blvd. in Webster/Clear Lake. And though the footprint is similar in size to the Kroger in Seabrook, this store is far superior in most every department. The prices are a tiny bit higher here than the typical Wal-Mart. But the cool thing is -- you're not shopping at Wal-Mart! I plan on being a regular here. read more

Terrible produce. Recently my wife stopped by the Arlan's here near Seabrook. She bought several items including corn. She bough 6 ears of corn of which were all completely rotten. It was rather inexpensive but still upsetting. When I tried to call the number of that location there is no response or even a voicemail for that matter. I have been calling for days and still have yet to get a response. This just obviously shows how much they don't care about their customers. So disappointed. read more

I have been going here for years and I loved it. It has completely changed in the last months. I would go here a couple times a week because it's just me. I knew the prices are higher because it not being a large store. Now the prices have almost doubled and meat items are large and over priced. The new owner did do his/her research. read more

Been going here off an on for about 6 years. It's convenient so I don't mind paying about 30% more for items I really need in a hurry. Stopped in today to grab a couple items, and while waiting in line a young Hispanic kid walks in the front door, is greeted by all the cashiers (assume this guy works there,) then proceeds to cut through the checkout lines the opposite way (opposed to walking around the right side like customers are directed to.) I see him walking in my direction and begin to wonder,"is this guy going to walk right into me?" He looks up, sees me, and continues to walk straight at me. At the last second I move out of his way and say "excuse me." Without even turning around to the say the same, he says "don't even worry about it" and continues to walk away. To be treated like this is by an employee is beyond me. In addition, the guy had both his headphones in and looked stoned. After reading the other reviews, I can see the trend. Have some respect for yourself, have some respect for the customer. If it wasn't for the fact that I live in a literal construction zone (ie. never ending work on 146) I'd never come back. read more

Good place to drop in and grab odds and ends in between full shopping days. They are very pricey on lots of items since they aren't as large as H‑E‑B, Walmart and Target. Like the cold cuts and bakery items. read more

Arlan's is a great family owned grocery store in a great location. They are open until midnight, which is great when I forgot something for one of my late night snack making escapades. The store is very clean, and they have a decent meat and produce section. They STILL double coupons (up to 50 cents) and triple coupons (up to 39 cents)....suck that, kroger. They also have fabulous beer specials, and a huge astronaut in their beer display. score. The only con is that they don't have the vast selection of items that your larger stores might have. But, like i said, the convenience factor outweighs that negative. read more

This is by far the cleanest grocery store I have ever been to. Everything was well stock, front facing, clean aisle and just organized. The sales items were a plus, because the pricing was a lil bit higher than a Wal-mart or Foodtown. It was like a Randalls or Target. It was well worth every penny because it is an awesome store. My checker Joseph, was one of the coolest I've ran across. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Check this place out! You won't regret it. Oh by the way, they offer paper or plastic. This grocery store feels like a piece of old Americana (not that old though). They have good products although not much of a great variety. They have good prices too that enables them to compete with other grocery stores, especially with well known grocery chains. The staff is friendly and the location is good. The strip center it is in at has good restaurants (try the Italian one as Clear Lake area is known for Italian restaurants) and a coffee shop -- all of which are worth noting and visiting. It's a "mom and pop" chain of grocery stores -- with only 3 locations in Southeast Houston. read more

Arlan' s Market is a.great neighborhood grocery store. I have used them for years. However, particularly in this pandemic I feel safer shopping there then any other grocer. The store always feels extremely clean. They have hand sanitizer at the front door and wipes. All employees were face masks and there are plastic shields at the registers. Never a feeling of over crowding. They have done a great job of keeping stocked with all the food and essential items we need. They also have great staff and a management who cares. We have decided with the increase of covid we all not go to any other grocer because all we need is at Arlans and we feel safer. read more

Wow. One of the rudest cashiesr ever. Even the ones at Walmart haven't been this rude. I had the nerve, the audacity to interrupt her while texting and holding up the register. How rude of me. After she rang me up (never once telling me the price of the item, luckily I looked at the price tag and knew how much money to give her) I realized I wanted to buy something else that was sitting near the register. When I politely asked her, she sighed at me. No, really! Sighed loudly to let me know that I was really getting on her nerves. How dare I as the customer interrupt her busy social life? Seriously I couldn't believe her attitude and actions; I looked for a manager but was in a hurry and didn't have time to hunt one down. Arlan's is truly a fixture of the Taylor Lake Village area. Their customer service is matched by none. Once I dropped my bag and broke my eggs (after paying for them) and without prompting they insisted to get me a new dozen without having to repay. Never a line, if they don't have what you want, just ask them and they will get it. The only local place I know of to get scrapple. Prices are not extraordinarily competitive, but they've got everything you need and customer service is worth it. read more

I moved down 146 recently so for convenience coming home from work I have stopped here 4 times... Each time the service has been either in a state where they ignore you or at worst have just seen you as a nuisance Last night I got to register a young guy was working .. He took my basket I said hi he said nothing not made any eye contact... When he was almost done a bag boy came over and I said hi to him . He as well did not make eye contact but proceeded to have a conversation about a Jim Carey movie and they both never said thank you or have a nice night or anything . I said thank you to them .. Which was not even acknowledged with eye contact or a look or even a pause in the conversation they were having . Honesty last nights experience has been my experience every time more or less. I try to give local family run businesses a chance.. This store for the most part is to me way more expensive on a lot of items than a big chain which is understandable. So you would think they would excel in service.. They don't.. There are not many places I feel UNWELCOME when I go into . One is ace hardware on Bay Area. Party city is another. Have been visiting this store for years. Personnel are friendly and helpful except for the occasional newbie on a learning curve. Prices are normally not as competitive as the large chains (makes sense), however they do have their deals. Fresh chicken products are usually well-priced and good quality. Meat specials often good. The only true negative would be products, especially dairy products, that are past the due date. Read your labels! read more

I absolutely love this market! It's my go to for weekday grocery stops. I cook just about everything I eat so I stop by to buy groceries throughout the week. Their chicken is very well priced and they have a surprising variety of foods for being a smaller market. Their produce is reasonably priced and very fresh. I actually prefer to buy my fruits and veggies here over other supermarkets. This store also sells cheap fruit and veggies that are on the verge of spoiling. So if you need to buy fruit and veggies for a meal you're preparing ASAP, this option may be best for you. The only thing I don't like about this type of sale is how they package the fruit and veggies in the same manner they package their meal (foam plate and plastic wrap). I am very environmentally conscious so this packaging is very wasteful. Plus the lack of air may make the food spoil faster. Otherwise, I have never entered this store and came out disappointed. The checkout people can be a bit aloof at times, but they have never been rude or dismissive. I always manage to find everything I need when I visit. I give it 4/5 because of the wasteful fruit/veggie packaging and because the check out people could be a tad more professional. read more

I went to Arlen's today and while at the check out I noticed the manager talking to an employee about something he did wrong and cursing at him while doing it in front of other employees and customers in front of the store. I told him he shouldn't do that in front of everyone. He said that is not the way he manages. I asked him his name and he said he was Nick Arlen. That was the last time I will be going there and will go to Kroger from now on. read more

Be very careful when you buy in Arlan's Market in Seabrook, Texas. Please check everything you buy there for out of date products, I have had 4-5 times when I shop there when the date were at least 2-4 weeks out of date. I have told them and they said they would get right on it to be sure that this does not happen again. Today was the last straw and I will not shop their again, we bought Sara Lee Cheese cake and I for got to check the date, when I went to open it, it was moldy and the date was 6 months out of date. This really getting to be a public safety hazard in my book. read more

I frequent the Seabrook location, and although their prices are not very competitive, they have amazing employees and are always efficient. The grocery sackers can be questionable and quiet at times but bag how I would like and always care for the groceries I am paying for. They always ask if I would prefer paper or plastic and bag accordingly. I love all the managers, especially Richard and Alex! Any time I have a question or would like a certain product, they are sure to get it ordered for me! If you're lucky you will have the best checker ever! I love having Kara check me out when I visit, she always has something to communicate about, is super quick, informative, and so friendly! I always find her dancing. smiling, and just enjoying her job, making my visit that much better! I also love Charles, the friendliest sacker ever! He is very talkative and makes my day, every day! Some employees are dull and others are very bright, but all in all, they do their jobs and are NEVER rude or nonprofessional! I was very excited to see a smaller grocery store when I moved here, because those are the ones that are always kept the cleanest! However, I am VERY disappointed. I have bought bread there, that literally molded the next day when the tag had said it was made that day. I have purchased Quaker Oats there (not expired) and as soon as I opened it...BUGS EVERYWHERE!!! Not only that, I get my deli meat sliced and one evening I go in and buy some to make a sandwich and I was up all night from food poisoning. This place is my staple grocery store when I'm looking for the basic odds and ends and everything that I might need on a daily basis. I love shopping here because there's never any crowds or any lines at the checkout. Everyone here is super friendly. The store is always clean, nice and orderly and I have no issues getting in and out when I want to stop in. Its just a few minutes from the house which makes it very convenient without having to drive all the way to K-rogers or Harold E. Butts place. Their meat selection is always fresh and their produce is second to none. When there was a shortage on brussels sprouts Arlans was the only place that I could find them. Only wish i have is that they had a fresh seafood market for fish and shrimp. Their beer and wine section is also improving which is top notch in my book. And another thing that I really enjoy is the 50s music which takes me right back to small-town America. I'm a fan more because of convience than anything. Since they have remodeled a lot easier to navigate through the store, but it seems the prices went up. I still shop there on occasion because it is close to my house & they do run specials that I can't beat. Staff has always been polite. And with the remodel the store seems to be cleaner (maybe that's just the newest). It seems to be a work in progress too but all in all, if you are looking for a few quick items, I would recommend Arlan's. read more

Clean ? Probably. Produce ? Not bad. Do they stock really weird stuff like a whole foods ? No. But , they got what you want. Well stocked with beer and wine for you weekend boaters. Nice cheap parade brand products and they love coupons. No you wont see me padding around in slippers buying cheese cake and dog food. I know it is a small supermarket, but I rather drive a few miles more to HEB. I only go when I need to purchase a few necessities, because it is substantially more expensive than any other super market. Not to mention the annoying music they play in their store.. It is like they are stuck in the 60's. It is not all bad; they do have a large wine and meat selection, and they are open till midnight. Almost everytime I go in this store which amounts to several times a week a product price scans incorrectly, always in favor of the store. Its corrected and promised to be fixed but never is and occurs again and again when buying the same product. I like the convenience of the store relative to my neighborhood and am pretty sure thats what they are counting on and only hope this is not a strategy to take advantage of the many seniors in the area. However, lately I have shifted my business to Kroger which does not have the repeated mis scans. My adivice would be watch the scanned price of products carefully. read more
