My wife and I found Dr Arleo and staff to be professional, courteous and above all competent. My cataract surgery was explained to me with realistic expectations and I am sure Dr Arleo and staff explain the same way to all patients. I was diagnosed with cataracts by another optometrist who doesn't do surgery. So Dr Arleo wasn't involved in deciding that I needed surgery. He confirmed the diagnosis when I went to him. I have gone to ophthalmologists in NYC, New Jersey, Connecticut, Syracuse and Ithaca where I had lived at different times. I can assure everyone that Dr Arleo is one of the best I've seen. OK, why do I say that? First of all, the front desk personnel are knowledgeable, courteous and efficient. I learned about the practice from a front desk staff who explained every part of the practice when I initially stopped by before making an appointment. Secondly the technicians are friendly and competent. They made me feel at ease and explained every test they performed. I ask a lot of questions. And there was always a call back from a competent staff member when I called for information on my condition, both technical and administrative. The doctor is meticulous. He is very careful about spreading germs. I said to him, "I bet you have no incidence of post-operative infection in your patients since you are so careful." His staff wipes down each room after a patient is examined. Not only are the instruments wiped. The counters and handles are also sanitized. You bet he is concerned about his patients. Before going to Dr Arleo, we travelled two hours to another ophthalmologist and we also attempted to contact another cataract surgeon elsewhere. The care and attention we received elsewhere was nowhere equal to what we received at Dr Arleo's office. I have been a patient of Dr. Gregory Zablocki's for almost a year now. I am dealing with some rather serious eye issues, so I have been to the office quite a few times. I am SO HAPPY with EVERY aspect of EVERY time I have been to appointments at the (Ithaca) office. From the front check-in, to the professional staff that do the testing, to Dr. Zablocki, to the nice person who checks me out and makes me another appointment, I have NEVER had more consistent, professional and friendly care. If I had been to this office once or twice, that would be one thing. But I have been there many times, and my experiences are consistent as I described them above. They also get me in very quickly when I have an issue or am in discomfort. Also, I would like to mention that their selection of frames by Kerry (sp?) is exceptional, good taste, and she is good at helping you pick out frames, which I, someone who has worn glasses for 30 years, have found to be nearly impossible! Obviously, I highly recommend this office. I have Medicare. They have always been right upfront about how much I may have to pay out of pocket if Medicare does not pick up the tab. I was very happy with this office. The appointment was scheduled quickly and they were open on Saturday which was great for my busy schedule. The receptionist was nice, the technician was efficient, and Dr. Conroy actually made the appointment fun and pleasant. I never felt judged, instead I was gently corrected about my bad habits so I could stop making them, which is exactly as it should be. I was given prescriptions and could choose where I wanted them filled and my vision is all the better for it. There is a recheck on contacts needed, but after your eyes are dilated for your first visit and you have a week to really understand your contacts its worth going back. My spouse and I have been using Arleo Eye Associates for the last 8 years. We've not had the problems others have had. My spouse has a complex eye condition and Dr. Arleo is right on top of it in terms of what needs to be done and when. Dr. Arleo is also my doctor and I have no complaints. Perhaps I have the same kind of dry humor. I think reception staff who are really busy when I have been there are good. During the recent change of Medicare account numbers, I observed one of the receptionists working with an older gentleman. She was very helpful and wasn't patronizing or aloof at all. I called and requested an appointment. Receptionist was rude when I made my request. Saucy Attitude in her voice! She acted like she loved treating me disrespectfully. She then told me they discontinued my insurance. I used them for years! I asked for a referral, and she gave me an extremely hard time. In this area it is hard to find vision care. I told her I felt well within my rights to ask these questions. The call did not end well. I let her know that I was unhappy with how she treated me on the phone. I typically do not post reviews about my doctors office, or good reviews but I need to tell you about what a joy it was to go to the doctors. I'm sure you never hear that! I highly recommend Arleo Eye Associates, and would go back again. They took me in quickly for a non-routine eye issue. My insurance was not in their network, but they reviewed all of the information with me in advance and clearly provided information about what I would owe for the visit. I can not explain how amazing the staff was during an emergency eye injury. The staff were accomodating and pleasant.
