I worked hard all my life, was politically ambivalent, but was personally against guns and weapons. As a paramedic I saw too much of the damage and crushed lives. But a slow progressive handicap made me into a weakened meat popsicle for the criminals who done 2015 Grand Theft Auto, Home Burglary, Identity Theft, and a bodily invasive and very too intimate Mugging of myself - and a special Event of being followed home from the Pharmacy for prescription drugs (my professional criminal blissfully boasts to other criminals of his crime details - though my Detective and Deputy District Attorney will not tolerate this and Justice is slow). My highlights of 2015 has been one classy skilled ER doctor at St. Mary's and meeting Allan and Kelly Main of Armed and Safe Firearms Training. Their class is ABOVE outstanding! Kelly is the instinctive teacher you wish you had had in your own elementary school youth. Information just rolls off her and yet she keeps the class at a pace that you can still ask questions, and keeps it seasoned with good entertaining humor. Allen emphasizes and reinforces her work and keeps a lower profile, but he is engaged in catching the deep questions , which could bog down a class, and still provides wonderful insights that season a newcomer like myself. My fortune for this Saturday was meeting Gregg P., my literal one-on-one range teacher. I cannot speak highly enough of his wisdom as an instinctive, intuitive coach in firearms skill and safety. He kept a raw student, myself, within grasping safety and improving myself with every range shot! Sadly I fatigue quickly, and Gregg gave me points of what I need to practice to progress. Even with car alarms, home systems, panic buttons, and closed circuit cameras, the truth is that a Deputy can be engaged and be 15 minutes away in a rural area, if you have an emergency. Do not be deluded and think you could ever reason with some spacey criminal or a tweaky. Morgan Freeman's grand-daughter died at the hands of someone so spaced, so distant from reality, that they probably do not remember what they done. Terrible loss of a promising life; the sad Truth is that unless you camp in your Sheriff's lobby, you need Allen and Kelly for your own personal safety and the safety of those you Love, just like you need food and water, daily! read more

Kelly and Allan are great! They keep what might otherwise be a very boring 8 hours, quite interesting. This ain't like boot camp at all. They are very helpful and clearly lay out the law, and help with shooting techniques, as well as firearm, holster, and shooting stance choices. They are constantly asking the group for their input, which is nice because there are often students in the group that have vast firearms and CCW experience, which the rest of us could learn from. They were also great on the range. Even though I have shot for years, I appreciate getting feedback from experienced shooters. They are great at giving feedback and advice on the range. Best of all, Kelly fit us in at the last minute. The only reason their Wednesday class was "full" was because they are concious about not sending too many applicants to the Sheriff's office that afternoon. Instead of turning us away, they simply asked us to postpone our application so we didn't overwhelm the Sheriff. We were more than happy to comply and really, really appreciated that level of customer service. They are also very quick at responding to request for information. I have taken a lot of CCW classes in my day and can highly recommend Armed & Safe for your NV, UT, FL, and OR permits. (UT and FL don't add any time to your class and only cost an additional $15-$20 each (I can't remember the exact price so check their website), on top of the very affordable $60 they charge for NV.) read more

I attended the Armed and Safe CCW class in Carson City on July 29, 2015. I was taking the class to get a non-resident CCW permit since I live in California. I found Kelly to be well organized, well prepared and knowledgeable about the CCW laws not just for Nevada but also other states including California. Her teaching was direct and to the point. She also found time to inject the appropriate amount of humor to ensure we were all still paying attention. The course consisted of two class room sessions with a shooting session in between. Allen ran the outdoor shooting session. Allen ran a tight range to make sure all participants of each skill level were safe but still able to demonstrate qualification. He instructed us on gun safety along with showing us multiple different guns that included single and double action guns. He also had the entire range setup when we arrived. Overall the experience was fantastic and only took 1 day including the time at the Sheriff's office to file my paper work which they provided. I took the weekday 1 day course that started at 4:30 in the morning. I was in Reno and drove down to Carson City to take this course. I would recommend this course to anyone. read more

Kelly and Allen are very friendly and yet very knowledgeable. At no point did they make me feel inadequate or stupid. I came into this course to obtain my CCW in Nevada, with prior training from my time in the military. they were able to cover all the things I already knew, and a bunch that I didn't. Allen was very personable and observant with my time at the range. He noticed when I made mistakes and offered up great advice to shoot better. Never did he make me feel like an idiot. Kelly did our after range class to cover the laws and scenarios. She is very well trained with her use of a handgun and demonstrated some of the more advanced moves of disarm. The class was really fun and light, while stressing the importance of safety and situational awareness as well as the potential violations we could all be facing when we carry. Kelly was an awesome instructor. Her humor was a little dry, but should be expected when you are teaching an eight hour class that you have taught a number of times. The best part about the course was that it is affordable. It is hard to find good service at reasonable prices, and this service far exceeded my expectations. They let me shoot a number of their personal pistols during and after I was finished qualifying. It was a very personal touch and ended up saving me a ton of money in pistol rentals before I went to purchase. The course was also surprisingly easy to understand and digest. I have been around pistols for a while and the laws don't change much state to state, but there are minor points (which could be really major if you aren't aware) which she was able to point out easily. Some of the wording in the questions for the written portion of the class was strange, but I don't think that was Armed & Safe's fault. read more

I have been shooting all my life. I was in the military. I have been hunting as long as I can remember. I hold a California CCW which requires retaking the required class and the required shooting every two years. This class and the shooting experience was about as good as I think you can get and at a very affordable price. Excellent staff and a comfortable atmosphere. The shooting experience was enhanced by having competitive shooters as range masters to supervise the actual firing at the range. This was a very high quality experience that I think would be a benefit to anyone interested in knowing more about concealed carry. I have a difficult time thinking of what to suggest they could do to improve their class. I very much doubt anyone is doing a better job. read more

After spending quite some time online trying to find an affordable CCW class, I stumbled upon "Armed and Safe"..diffently glad that I did. The class was informative, and the price was reasonable. Kelly and Allan were easy to understand and made the time go by quickly, without skipping any of the important stuff. They took the time to go over everything, in a professional manner, and spent some time with us giving us some tips on the range.
