They are patient and really go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable and that you understand safety and what you're doing and make everything really easy. When you get there you complete your registration and rent a lane. Then you can either use your own firearm, eye and ear protection, and ammunition or you can rent or purchase everything. You can rent handguns and various semi-auto rifles for a flat rate plus ammunition, or you can rent automatics or belt fed machine guns by buying magazines or belts, no flat rental rate required. It can all add up pretty quickly but overall the rates and prices are reasonable. I had a great time, my favorite was firing the Thompson submachine gun on full auto, and will definitely be back for the M1!

He got through the material and kept us on schedule and as a busy person I appreciated that a lot. Would recommend him unreservedly. The one minor negative (which is really not anyone's fault in fairness) was because of the classroom being above the shooting range ( a good thing as you get to do your qualifying shoot straightaway without having to change locations) it was a little hard to hear the presentation at times from the noise below. As I said, it was only a minor negative as Gary was very skilled to pause as needed if he was making an important point and it got too loud. The fee for the course was also quite fair and a good value as I looked at other offerings for double + the $'s !

The class ranged from new gun owners to retired plinking experts, and everything in between. I know it can be scary taking a firearms class, especially if it's your first one. Don't worry Matt will take the time to help you along the process so there is no reason to be nervous if you are a novice gun owner. The class is broken down into a classroom portion, a gun handling portion, and a live fire portion. The classroom consisted of a necessary PowerPoint with first hand knowledge and experience thrown in. There is a written test that must be passed and then it's on to the more hands on training. All of the basic gun handling fundamentals and techniques are reviewed, as well as drawing from concealment. As a class we decided to drive down the street to take our shooting qualification test at the bigshot range. We shot the qualification and received additional guidance from Matt. I ended up shooting an extra box of ammo to practice what I learned from the class. Matt Marquez is a great teacher and brings his experience from a variety of specialized law enforcement divisions to make the class entertaining and educational. There's a difference between a qualified professional and someone going through the motions and just reading off a script. You can tell the people at hog tactical really care about their students and will do whatever it takes to help them. I would recommend taking the Hog Tactical CCW course and I plan on taking more of their wide variety of classes they have to offer. ~BMO

This was the first time my wife had attended a CCW class so she was a bit nervous at first but very at ease within a short time. There were a couple other ladies in the class also and all seemed to be at ease once things got going. Did have to travel to an offsite range (about 10 min.) for the live fire qualification but no big deal. Range was crowded with a wait line when we got there but the counter guy recognized Kirk and gave him two lanes right away. We were all in and out in a very short time. Every day is a good day, regardless of temperature, rain or snow, and we got all of those and cold,…read moreto enjoy shooting a match all to benefit our neighbors in need. To coordinate a shoot is a very daunting task, it takes a lot of people's efforts to make it a success. First we need a facility to hold such a match, well Illumined Arms donated their fantastic facility for shooters to compete and the assistance of their staff to insure the facility is available for holding the event , then all the sponsors to advertise and staff, Battleborn group, Vet Mech Arms and the Lyon County Sheriff's department staff to run and insure this event went smoothly. We also had a late sponsor by Anderson renewal windows to support such a worthy cause. All this for supporting our neighbors in need of support with our donations. This was a turkey shoot after all, so turkey's were of course the prize to the top shooters. From what I observed, everyone left with smiles on their faces, satisfied knowing we were doing this for a very worthy cause and we all participated in a safe event.
